No, it stops me at 160.

Wonder if it's possibly a carrier thing - saw an ATT poster saying his was fine - even posted a screen shot with it showing 97/3, as in 97 characters on the 3rd split

Could be dictated by the SMSC number.  The field has the number in quotes then followed by ,145 perhaps indicating a 145 character limit.  Out of curiosity I tried to change it to ,200 and then it reverted to ,152.  Haven't tried actually counting the characters yet though.

Has anyone been able to pickup LTE on band 41 as yet?

This is what I want to know! 42 pages, and no clear answer to this yet. 

 

I live in Salt Lake, which has only 4 band 25 towers. But apparently (I'm not a premier sponsor), the city has many more Band 41 towers active. Thus, the answer to this question is critical to me!

It's supposed to live here in NYC so i'll see if I can enable band 41 and see what SignalCheck tells me.

I can't be the first person in NY to get there hands on a Nexus 5

Let us know if you come across a WiMax signal. I think you'll get LTE first, though.

OctOS and TouchWiz didn't give me any problems. I did go back in and edit it on the Nexus 5 and it didn't improve.

When I was bouncing between TW and AOSP, I had to use "p" and "w" in TW, but in AOSP, I had to hit menu and insert pause or insert wait and that put in a "," or a ";"

 

TW heavily modifies Android from Google's vision.  Take one of those and remove your pauses and waits, recreate them from the AOSP dialer and see if it works and the difference in the entries.

I said I did that I even tried changing from pause to wait, which lets you choose when the phone sends the tones. Nada.

Yes.  Using the 1.2amp charger that came with it, while actively using the device, kept the battery at the same percentage.  It only went up 1% after an hour.  But switching to one of my 2amp chargers solved that issue.

Hopefully the kernel gods give us some good stuff to conserve battery.  Its already been noted that mpdecision is quick to active and run the cores at full blast.  Development just started and can only get better...I currently am running Franco test 7 and its definitely doing better battery wise...

I have been using 2 amp chargers in my car and home for about 2 years.  As far as I know, there has not been any negative repercussions.  However, I don't use a device daily for more than 6-9 months on average.

Finally got the phone + SIM activated. It took a couple of data provisioning cycles but it seems to work on Sprint so far.

 

As far as the SignalCheck issues go, as far as I can tell so far the system doesn't actually report any 1X data at all while connected to LTE. Throwing the phone into 1X or 3G mode will report CDMA info. Every app is likely to have this issue unless the Android framework itself is fixed to report the data being collected by the radio that's visible in the debug app (disassembling the APK might give some clue as to where to get this info from, like it did for getting the GCI on HTC devices).

Starting hour five since unplug this morning and I'm at 83%.  My usage has been between light and moderate, though.  I also unplugged my Nexus 4, iPhone 4S, HTC 8X and Galaxy S2 at the same time.  All of them have been in standing by since then with no usage and on WiFi.  Here is how they compare to the Nexus 5 (which has been used about an hour of those 5 hours).

• HTC 8X with Windows 8  90%
• iPhone 4S with iOS7  88%
• Nexus 5 with Android 4.4  83%
• Galaxy S2 with Android 4.0  80%  (WiMax turned off)
• Nexus 4 with Android 4.2  77%

Interesting that the Nexus 4 with no usage is less than the Nexus 5 with one hour of usage.

Looks good to me.  I checked my EVO LTE yesterday after 8 hours of being unplugged and it still had 80% battery life.  I think the Nexus would suit me just fine.

 

You guys have completely convinced me to pick up a device with my student loan money lol.  That may sound irresponsible, but I'm going to tell myself I need it for academic reasons, which may be very true.
