yes everyday sometimes disconnects but reconnects quickly.

Just FYI, with the Signal Check Pro app, I picked up some 800 near the Springfield VA area.

With rare exception, a native call is not going to hand off to roaming (nor vice versa). The frequency band change is irrelevant.

My BID is the same exact thing for both 800 & 1900 voice.  I do not know if that is going to be universal or not.

thanks! i didn't recognize the BID so wasn't sure if it was because they will be different, or i just don't know the BID of the tower its coming from yet (it was a very weak 800 signal so it had to have been coming from far away)

I do have 3 different BID's from one cell site.  Each sector is a different BID.  So, you could get 1900 from one Sector(one BID) and then 800 form the same cell site with a different Sector & BID.

However, if you get  decent 1900 signal and then see a  weaker 800 signal, the two signals are probably coming from a completely different cell site.

I guess Houston and surrounding areas are seeing 800 sites activated very slowly . I was having problems sending texts earlier and after trying to resend them, my phone connected to an 800 site. Here is the kicker; the site is 13 miles away north from me. Very impressed. The site was located at 1001 North Street, Humble, TX. I am located 2-3 miles north of the 610 Loop.

yeah I work close to I45&Gulf bank, i also seeing the same site, texting is so much faster when connected to 800 site, same with call, can't wait for sprint to activate all towers on the 800 frequency

Sounds like one site near me. I can see the RRUs with my eyes. But no LTE from it until I get closer. It only covers about half a mile or less.

. The two towers are weird.. lol I go up hill to play basketball and I get 12mb down.. on 4G? idk lol But at least I don't drop as many calls

Got plenty of sites in Tampa that only cover a very short distance.  What's funny is that where I lived there was a tower half a mile away and another one mile away from me, and I was almost always connected to the farther of the two lol.

I do 4 miles daily on 1900 LTE.

At work in North West Grand Rapids, I will often connect (at around -105 dBm) to a 800 site on South East Grand Rapids, 12 miles away. Through the entirety of a city. Non-LOS. That one always impressed me.

 

Of course, at the same location, there are 2 LTE sites within 2 miles, and neither reaches. Yay, downtilt!

Is the LTE signal in general just weaker or is it the obvious that Sprint is currently in the process of deploying it. Just wondering. I got an HTC One and recently signed up for Sprint. I'm very impressed at the improvements! No more dropped calls in my building and great signal strength now. (on 1x and EVDO that is) LTE different story. I'm in Brooklyn which was officially announced by Sprint but LTE is still very spotty. I was by Flatbush and Nostrand which is a major intersection and no LTE. I been to East New York, East Flatbush and other parts of Brooklyn with no LTE still either. SMH!

It's the fact that they're deploying it. Especially in NYC when they finally have the network deployed you should have good LTE where you have good 3G. Sprint has a bad habit of 'launching' markets officially when they're only 40% complete or less.

LTE takes a bit stronger signal than 1x and EVDO to be useable but the signal levels should be close to each other. A fringe signal may still be useable for 1x and EVDO and not quite make it for LTE. That being said more common right now is not all sites are done and its very likely you could be connecting to LTE from a site further away than a tower that doesn't have it yet. 

 

I use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.blueline.signalchecklite it puts a real decimal read out on the menu bar and can show both the LTE and CDMA signal levels if you set it up. 

 (actually I use the pro version has a couple more features) 

 

Sensorly https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sensorly.viewer  is handy to have on your phone too. Its crowd sourced maps app that shows coverage for various carriers including Sprint. You can see where its reasonable to expect coverage. Not everywhere that has LTE has been mapped yet but it fills in pretty quick and I find it fun to run the app and let it help fill in Sprint data.

Thanks guys. I will download signalchecklite and check out Sensorly. I miss AT&T's beautiful LTE speeds. 40-50Mbps but I sure as hell don't miss going over each month. Metered data is ridiculous. Verizon and AT&T are scum. I believe Sprint will get it together but they gotta do it faster. They are really in a great position right now. I hope they dont mess this up.
