My n5 died yesterday. Worked fine on the way home had a full charge, next time I go to look at it, it was dead, won't power up at all, no matter how long I press any combination of keys.

No boot screen, no vibration, no nothing, dead dead dead. :(

I'll give you fifty bucks for your totally dead n5 this minute!

eh, well if I was out of warranty window, I'd consider it.

but then again, if I was out of warranty I would at least attempt to replace the battery first before selling it.

If you bought it from the play store you can get a refurbished one for free.

Does anyone's n5 holds on to band 41 even at -125db shouldn't it switch to band 25 and 26? But instead of switching to band 25 it drops to 3g. This triband thing seems like there still testing it.

Are you on the newest radio? I haven't noticed that issue.

Band 41 has better edge of cell performance, so it's possible to use down to -130dBm. That is why Spark devices hold on to it down to that level. Why you are dropping to 3G from there, I don't know. Either you don't have a good B25/26 signal, or the B41 site you're connected to hasn't been properly configured to hand off to other bands.

Quick question?

How is the cell radio (reception?) compared to the iPhone 5s?

Loads better, like 10-15dbm better. The n5 is still the best rf performer on the market with the g3 coming close.

in my experience, while nexus 5 does excel on band 25, my m8 vastly outclasses my nexus 5 on usability on all bands.

Yeah the N5 isn't all that great in RF anymore.  Pretty average for LTE if you ask me.  My G2 keeps up with it now and is maybe even a little better.

The N5 is great though at keeping a very usable 3G signal.  That is where it completely smokes my G2.

Did anyone get the Hangout update?  Im not sure about it.

Yep.  No problem.  I finally received the final integration update today.  I've been using Hangouts for my text and voice calls for quite awhile so far but now the transition is complete.

http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/09/10/hangouts-2-3-update-brings-remaining-google-voice-integration-big-visual-overhaul-apk-download/

used apk downloaded from above and downloaded hangouts dialer from playstore

wifi calling appears to work well

in order to receive wifi calls there is box to check in settings plus

in google voice settings [web page] I had to stop google from forwarding my google # to my phone [uncheck nexus 5]

this keeps google from forwarding the call twice and keeps the native dialer blocking the hangouts dialer

I don't think it can text over wifi yet, but hopefully it will before they get rid of the google voice app

I'm on wifi 95% of the time so this should lower my $12 Ting bill to $9 on a normal month.

Has anyone figured out a way to change between google voice or carrier number when fully integrated for WiFi SMS? It seems pretty random which of my threads are sprint and which are google voice.

Unless you're funny integrated. Then yes on both accounts.

I am funny incarnate.  Does that count?

Under settings\SMS there is an option to select between carrier number, google voice number and smart reply mode. Sounds like you are in smart reply mode. Its not very convenient, they need the option on the chat screen..
