Google Nexus 5 by LG Users Thread!

Could I have a faulty Nexus 5? I returned my previous one since they were offering free cracked screen replacements one time. 

The nexus 5 i received is experiencing these issues.
1. Long GPS Lock
2. Random Reboots. Usually occurring during sound play. Waze directions, or pandora. Only noticed it happening when one or both are on, and in the middle of a sound.

3. Loss of Signal though I am not sure if area optimizations are the cause of that, though I have noticed that I lock on to 3G more than LTE.. Miami is awashed with B41/B25. I can't even keep a google hangout phone call over lte from my job to home anymore with this new phone. 


Anyone ever experience these issues?

Ever since I got mine I suspected I had a faulty GPS chip. 1-5 minutes to lock with great 140° view of the sky (on open fields in several different locations) and sometimes randomly no lock at all no matter how long I wait with the same visibility conditions. Makes playing Ingress a bitch.

 

As far as the other stuff goes, I have no idea. I'd try to get a new unit.

Anyone use an att prepaid Sim with their n5's in addition to sprint? Coming back from KC mo to my parents house for breaks is getting terrible (no sprint LTE, super shitty 60kbs or lower 3g if we're lucky), and we can't get internet service other than cellular out here. There's no way I'd ditch sprint as my provider(had the others and they can't compare), but I'm really wanting some form of internet while Im here which is why I was considering getting one of the brands that offer such and such LTE speeds with unlimited data throttled to 3g speeds (ping matters more for what I'd be doing, I can deal without video streaming and the like). So back to my original question if I did integrated my sprint number with GV and then put the att Sim into my n5 would I still be able to see when someone has called/texted my sprint number thanks to the integration or would I need a separate phone?

Yes you'll be able to get texts using the Google Voice app or integrating Google Voice SMS with hangouts. You can also add your new number as a forwarding number for google voice so it will ring your new number for calls to the Sprint number.

Looking at the changelog, looks like Lollipop has native wi-fi calling built in. Coming to the Nexus 5, 7, and 10 in the coming weeks

Do you guys think this will address the 3G to LTE issue that's been discussed the past few weeks?

I use my N5 on AT&T. It has been a plague of it not scanning back to LTE for 3-5 minutes since the day I started AT&T service. However, not everyone seems to have this problem. Not even on Sprint. Is it an early production issue? I don't know. I ordered my N5 in less than an hour after the went on sale. I also have the issue when I use Tmo.

I had the same problem using the Nexus 5 on AT&T and T-Mobile. The biggest gripe I had was it would drop connectivity totally when going from LTE to HSPA. I also had poor connectivity in general on both carriers too on that phone. I've even done an RMA with the Google Play Store and the replacement wasn't better, however the GPS issues seemed fixed. Like you, I bought mine on the first day.

The new radio is showing to be better at holding onto fringe 3g/1x than previous radios. I'm in a dead zone for LTE that's actually hard to pick up 3g in (even at night). Also it appears to have better thorough put than the other radios, I'm pulling 10kbs better on 1x and 10-15kbs better on 3g than I have been the rest of this week. I know this could be a placebo coincidental side effect, but still thought it was worth mentioning.

That's odd, if I flash back to the radio for 4.4.4, the previous L radio, or even .15 I immediately drop my 3g connection that I'm getting in a spot where I would always drop to a ~ -105dbm 1x800 signal before...
