So I went to check and see if I had the update a bit ago. When I clicked to check my phone froze up and then gave me an error saying Google play services has stopped working. Did it just try to give me the OTA and my phone failed it or something? This is my first android device so if its an idiotic question feel free to let me have it lol.

I hope it turns out to be true. I got band 41 stuff to get gci/pci info on.

As I understand it I just need to flash the zip from Google when it shows up. I went back to the stock kernal withe the franko kernal updater and can use use the exposed installer to uninstall exposed and keep my settings for after flashing the ROM.

If there is not some kind of solid confirmation over there by this afternoon, then I'd say it's just someone toying with us. It'll come, just a matter of how soon. I've given up worrying about it every waking minute. For now, I've got enough of a workaround that I'm in no rush to undo everything for the OTA. I'll probably just wait to be able to TWRP it.

If it is because of an e/CSFB issue then it should be fixed at some point. Did you get any type of error message when trying to make calls while on LTE? I know when i experienced CSFB problems i got the the "Mobile Network Not Available" message. I also have issues keeping LTE signal in my home and my office. Both have WiFi so it's not a huge deal.

Also, which radio are you using?

I never saw an error, just the call would be missed. Only time I saw an error is when I tried to text or call out. It would fail until I shut off LTE.

I never saw an error message either.  I would receive calls, talk for 20 - 30 seconds, and the call would drop.  Same thing when placing calls, it would go through, no errors, but the call wouldn't make it a minute before dropping.  I am on the .17 radio.

It is still working fine with LTE disabled though. 1 hour conference calls with no issues.

Someone on XDA shared a useful extension that will help those of you hammering your F5 button looking for OTA information:

For those super anxious, there is a Chrome extension called "Page Monitor" that will periodically check any page you tell it to for updates.

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/page-monitor/pemhgklkefakciniebenbfclihhmmfcd/related?hl=en

Install the extension, tell it to watch the Nexus Factory Image page, and voila, you'll be notified as soon as the 4.4.3 image is added.

Umm.. then read back a few posts. It was discussed and the screenshot was posted. Most likely that was from a Google employee's phone dogfooding the update.

About the possible new dialer? I don't recall seeing anything about the dialer.

Is it impossible to send/receive MMS(group messages) over WiFi on the newest version of hangouts?

I'm wondering if one of the APN s will fix this.

I'd also think we could send/receive MMS (picture) on WiFi too...

Only the screenshot of the About screen was physically posted here, but the original post on XDA is where all of this stems from.

I got a failed to receive mms this morning, but didn't think anything of it because it's the only one I've received in the past month, and I hit retry while I was leaving and it worked.  I guess I can sort of confirm the issue.

SMS and MMS require an active wireless data connection, and cannot be sent/received over wifi.

Only partially true because as I understand it carriers can enable MMS over WiFi. Sprint is the only carrier who has this. The 8sms messaging app settings verify this as far as I know but they might have removed the feature. But in the end it depends on if the carrier has enabled it on both ends.

    • Kind of amazing that T-Mobile is still holding onto that speed title despite Verizon all but killing off lowband 5G on their network. While Verizon is mostly being evaluated on mmWave and C-band performance, T-Mobile and AT&T's average 5G speeds include their massive lowband 5G networks that are significantly slower.
    • 5G in the U.S. – Additional Mid-band Spectrum Driving Performance Gains T-Mobile holds on to it's lead in 5G Speed
    • Yup. Very true. We were originally on an Everything Data 1500 Plan, which got Unlimited Minutes thanks to Marcelo's "Loyalty Benefits" offer. We then switched to Unlimited Freedom (with the Free HD add-on that Sprint originally wanted $20/month per line for.... remember that?) because the pricing was better with "iPhone for Life", vs. the "Loyalty Credit" for staying on a Legacy Plan. After that, I ran the numbers and switched us over to Sprint MAX, especially for the international travel benefits. There's absolutely no reason for us to switch to Go5G Plus or Go5G Next if we're going to do BYOD by purchasing from Apple/Samsung/Google directly as we've been doing. These new plans aren't priced for current customers to switch to. They're priced for new customers, where they throw in a free line, etc. It's gone from "Uncarrier" to "Carrier". What a shame.
    • Strange business model that they keep around all these pricing plans. 1000s of plans per carrier is reportedly not uncommon.  Training customer support must be a nightmare. Even MVNOs have legacy plans. A downside of their contract mentality I guess. Best to change contracts during a recession. But then all carriers try to squeeze out legacy plan benefits as they grow old.
    • Everything "Uncarrier" is becoming "Carrier" again. Because of the Credit Limit that T-Mobile put on our account for no reason at all (and wouldn't change/update the last time I checked all the way up to the CEO), I don't plan on buying/upgrading our iPhones through T-Mobile. I'm going through Apple directly. Looks like I'll be going through Google and Samsung directly for our other lines for upgrades. Also, we're staying on Sprint Max given the ridiculous pricing for Go5G Plus. On Sprint Max, we currently pay for our Plan: $260 for 7 Voice Lines $25 for two Wearable Lines. (One is $10/Month. The other is $15/Month because the AutoPay discount only applies up to 8 lines.) Total: $285/Month vs. Go5G Plus (Per the Broadband Facts "nutrition label" on the T-Mobile Website): https://www.t-mobile.com/commerce/cell-phone-plans $360 - ($5 AutoPay Discount x 7 Voice Lines) = $325 The Watch Plans show as either $12/Month or $15/Month: https://www.t-mobile.com/cell-phone-plans/affordable-data-plans/smartwatches So this is about the same for the wearables as what we're paying now. Overall, it's quite more than we're paying now to switch plans. Ridiculous....
