HTC One M9 Rumor Thread

Ascertion

This is the biggest troll I've seen by a company in a long time. Spigen already leaked the device and HTC is covering their tracks.

This doesn't add up. Upleaksposted a detailed description of the device before anyone had any official render and then evleaks posted a photo. Then that fake German site posted a photo to counter it (which is this device) and then Spigen confirmed leaks' render.

I'm hoping its a troll tactic. They put a lot of work into the deception which is amusing in itself.

Yeah, I don't understand all this hoopla if they will release the m9 with the same damn design as the m8. I really do want to think that they really are trolling.

Even if it looks like the M8, it'll still be a step up from my beloved M7.

P.S. - I can't stand Touch Wiz!

I'm crossing my fingers and hoping for a miracle that a Phablet will be announced together with the M9.... but keeping my expectation low at this point as so far all the rumors leaked pointed to otherwise

It looks good, but still way too similar to the original M8. We'll see how their sales go. I'm not as excited for it as I once was, but we'll see.

Yeah same here. I thought for sure the M9 was going to get me back to Android but since it appears to be pretty much the M8 with better internals I will probably pass.

if that's the final version, it's pretty much the perfect Android phone. the only problem with the last M8 was the camera and maybe the power button placement, now that they've fixed that, there isn't a single thing I can see wrong with it...assuming battery life is good.

I'm curious because I see comments like this every once in awhile. Does that suggest that there is something wrong with the M8 or just the fact that it's not a big enough change? I could see that for people that are M8 owners but if not, what is the complaint about it not being different enough? Please don't read this as a challenge I'm just curious about the thought process on a comment like this.

I used to have the HTC Evo and loved it. This latest range of phones from HTC I would never buy. Way too much bezels and I don't want an HTC logo to take up real estate. I'd rather have the logo be a home button with back and multi-task buttons next to it.

I agree minor physical changes but I think the camera, 810, bigger battery and Sense improvements are very significant.

Will there be a Sprint specific variant of this phone? The bands, as reported by GSMArena don't seem to show this being a CCA compliant phone. http://m.gsmarena.com/htc_one_m9-6891.php

Based on the info from the site it seems like there is only one model. Details are still coming out by the minute.

Smh, not too impressed with the all too similar design but spec wise it's great. Honestly though I am really feeling the s6 edge so I may end up getting one of each.

I actually think it's pretty hard to go a step up from the design of the M8 and they managed to do that. Putting the buttons on the side of the device stops the complaints about having to reach the top of the phone and the improved camera is a welcome addition. People have been saying that the camera isn't that great but they've also made note that the software that it's running is also far from final. The software experience is actually really smooth too, according to many websites.

Needless to say, this will probably be my next phone. The Galaxy S6 looks like an iPhone copycat. I understand that they're trying to build a more premium device this time around but some part of the phone look like they copied and pasted it from the iPhone which really saddens me.

Edit: The GS6 also has no microSD card. What is that about?

The specs in question are for the international variant.  Remember, that site is called GSMArena.  I would not reference it for anything Sprint.

I was all about this one, but like you, the S6 Edge has now caught my eye. I didn't like the curved edge on the Note Edge, but the dual curved edge... My my I'm in love.

    • Since this is kind of the general chat thread, I have to share this humorous story (at least it is to me): Since around February/March of this year, my S22U has been an absolute pain to charge. USB-C cables would immediately fall out and it progressively got worse and worse until it often took me a number of minutes to get the angle of the cable juuuussst right to get charging to occur at all (not exaggerating). The connection was so weak that even walking heavily could cause the cable to disconnect. I tried cleaning out the port with a stable, a paperclip, etc. Some dust/lint/dirt came out but the connection didn't improve one bit. Needless to say, this was a MONSTER headache and had me hating this phone. I just didn't have the finances right now for a replacement.  Which brings us to the night before last. I am angry as hell because I had spent five minutes trying to get this phone to charge and failed. I am looking in the port and I notice it doesn't look right. The walls look rough and, using a staple, the back and walls feel REALLY rough and very hard. I get some lint/dust out with the staple and it improves charging in the sense I can get it to charge but it doesn't remove any of the hard stuff. It's late and it's charging, so that's enough for now. I decide it's time to see if that hard stuff is part of the connector or not. More aggressive methods are needed! I work in a biochem lab and we have a lot of different sizes of disposable needles available. So, yesterday morning, while in the lab I grab a few different sizes of needles between 26AWG and 31 AWG. When I got home, I got to work and start probing the connector with the 26 AWG and 31 AWG needle. The stuff feels extremely hard, almost like it was part of the connector, but a bit does break off. Under examination of the bit, it's almost sandy with dust/lint embedded in it. It's not part of the connector but instead some sort of rock-hard crap! That's when I remember that I had done some rock hounding at the end of last year and in January. This involved lots of digging in very sandy/dusty soils; soils which bare more than a passing resemblance to the crap in the connector. We have our answer, this debris is basically compacted/cemented rock dust. Over time, moisture in the area combined with the compression from inserting the USB-C connector had turned it into cement. I start going nuts chiseling away at it with the 26 AWG needle. After about 5-10 minutes of constant chiseling and scraping with the 26AWG and 31AWG needles, I see the first signs of metal at the back of the connector. So it is metal around the outsides! Another 5 minutes of work and I have scraped away pretty much all of the crap in the connector. A few finishing passes with the 31AWG needle, a blast of compressed air, and it is time to see if this helped any. I plug my regular USB-C cable and holy crap it clicks into place; it hasn't done that since February! I pick up the phone and the cable has actually latched! The connector works pretty much like it did over a year ago, it's almost like having a brand new phone!
    • That's odd, they are usually almost lock step with TMO. I forgot to mention this also includes the September Security Update.
    • 417.55 MB September security update just downloaded here for S24+ unlocked   Edit:  after Sept security update install, checked and found a 13MB GP System update as well.  Still showing August 1st there however.
    • T-Mobile is selling the rest of the 3.45GHz spectrum to Columbia Capital.
    • Still nothing for my AT&T and Visible phones.
