They were Sprint's employee referral plans. It stood for "Everything Plus Referral Program".

 

Now it is EPRP - Employee Purchase Referral Program

 

The newer SERO - Sprint Employee Retention Offer

 

The only way to attain Sero is being an ex-employee or being on the AWD - Advantage Wireless Discount from under an employee and was removed from their responsibility.

You can still get the old plans in a 3rd party like BestBuy. Not sure for how long, tell her to hurry.

Due to system maintenance Best Buy will not be able to activate Sprint or T-Mobile phones Saturday or Sunday. I assume it is related to the system being updated to reflect the new plans and options for both carriers.

I was looking to upgrade my phone this month to the galaxy s4.  I am currently on sero and was eligible at the beginning of this month for an upgrade.  Anyone know if I can still upgrade and keep my sero plan online?

There is no evidence at this time that anyone is being forced from any existing plans.

Just make sure you go through a corporate store and not a third party retailer(bestbuy, radioshack, sam's club, etc).

Here comes a stupid question: How do I know if its a corporate sprint store or not?

 

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you can tell by how the information is displayed on the Sprint location search.  if it says simply 'Sprint Store', its a corporate location.  If it says 'Sprint Store by XXXXXXX', its not.

In my experience, even corporate stores won't touch SERO plans. I haven't had any problems recently ordering new phones on my old SERO lines through sprint.com. You just ignore the "plan change" notice and call in to activate when the phone arrives.

Has anyone heard of people being forced onto the new plans when they want to upgrade? I know it has only been one day, but on other forums this seems to be occurring. I really hope this is not the case until after NV is complete because we have two phones we want to upgrade on our account. With the state of the current network, I would not want to be forced to switch to these new plans.

The wife caught wind of these plans some how today...maybe email or probably Facebook or some crap on Sprint's fan page.  She was flipped out saying they are cancelling our plans and moving us to higher plans and/or cancelling our unlimited data.  She went on to say she already priced Verizon and AT&T with our phones.  I was like...whooa...hold the phone...literally.  Wait until it happens to make a move.  I explained things to her but I'm not sure if it made much of a difference.  I think she's looking for an excuse to jump ship anyways after they screwed up the site that covers her place of employment back in the end of May(after the NV upgrade).  They still haven't fixed it apparently.  I know the north sector of this site is still messed up. 

 

I'll have to do some damage control before I come home and find a brand new AT&T Note2 on the counter. Sheeshh... I can only imagine what other people think of these plans that have no wireless knowledge.

So, they've taken probably their most important market (unlimited data). Made it dramatically more expensive, so the people that don't need unlimited on all lines that should be happy on other carriers will have a cheaper monthly bill. They're also closer than ever in pricing to VZW and AT&T, all before Network Vision is done... With a big backer like SoftBank coming in wouldn't it make sense to either A. Try and maybe lower pricing for Unlimited data customers or B. Keep the pricing the same at least until NV is fully completed.

 


:td: Sprint just lost 5 port in phones from AT&T.  I was recommending my sister-in-law and her family switch to Sprint from AT&T for better pricing and service.  They agreed and just waiting for them to be out of contract this month.  I was planning on using the EPRP that is the same My Family is on.

 

Yesterday, I logged on and showed them the plan and even went through everything up to the point of checking out.  The MRC was $204.96 plus taxes and fees which was acceptable.

 

Today the EPRP is gone even though it is still shown and described all over that website but when you start shopping the New Unlimited My Way plan is the only option. :angry: So I went ahead and again entered the same phones and required data as I had done yesterday and the MRC is now $310.00 plus taxes and fees, not acceptable.

 

This wasn't a good idea but they were willing to do it.  This is just terrible timing on Sprints part IMHO.  Yes I know it may be a good deal for individual lines but for a family it isn't.  You are committing to a 2 year lock using phones that are NOT tri-band for NV best use and NV is at 50% complete (counting towers) at best.  It is non-existent in Ohio for the most part still, just like WIMAX was.

 

Not off to a good start for Sprint-Softbank-Clearwire.  Sprint's lost they are going to JUMP to T-Mobile and after 12 years I believe I will do the same next year when my contracts expire.

This really is bizarre. Maybe they will bring the old plans back for new customers, maybe not. All I know is that if it were not for this site I would have switched. I would say 95% of customers only see the end product and never read about upgrades and the behind the scenes stuff. I love this site and have been here for a long time. I have learned so much from this site. The Sprint PR department should be replaced with authors from this site. Sprint cannot keep putting out information about the all new network when the vast majority of customers have not seen any changes yet. This only adds fuel to the fire when people receive texts saying we hope you are enjoying our brand new network and they are in a market that is just starting to receive upgrades with slow data and dropped calls. I am in the NY market and have been in many areas with the all new network, and I can say it is awesome. However, when I fall back to the legacy network I want to scream. Unfortunately, I have to do with my family what digi is having to do with his wife. I do know that Sprint can have a great future, but right now they really have no room for errors. In the public's eye Sprint already has 3 strikes with the failed Nextel merger, not properly maintaining the legacy network, and Clearwire not being able to fully deploy WiMax. Dan has done a wonderful job pulling this company together and if there was ever a CEO that can pull of this execution, it is him.

Interesting but not really relevant today. Amazon is still listing old plans. I switched from Verizon to Tmobile prepaid as a placeholder until Sprint brought LTE to Utah. Think I'll stay put for now. Damn

Some pushback I am sure... But most are clueless. An unnamed family member is paying for a full Verizon family plan... And is paying for a line with no phone on it so they could get a new phone when they were not eligible for an upgrade... No sense of value or thrift.

This is seriously a bad move on sprint's part. It breaks down as a price rise (for new customers) while their network is not competitive (and won't be until NV is complete sometime in the first quarter of next year). Now they are actually more expensive than most of AT&T and vzw plans for a family of five and many plans for family of 3 or more

They got a way with raising prices once but that was only because they where still cheaper (for the most part) than vzw and AT&T. I don't see how this is a plan to grow market share.

 

Until now I have had a great deal of faith in sprint's leadership team (considering what they have been able to do given where the company was at when Hesse took over) but now I seriously have to question their thinking and ability to turn sprint into a competitive company. Until they have a competitive network they have to compete on price.

Maybe this has been brought up and I missed it...but if some say the old plans aren't going away.  Why is it that the regular plans on the website are gone?  Then the craziest thing is if I was customer with 3 smartphones  it would be cheaper to go with AT&T.  I'm trying to read through all this on their site along with the comments made here and none of this makes sense.  Basically what this means to me is Sprint does not want any new customers.  No one in their right mind is going to pay more for Sprint than AT&T and VZW.  It used to be you got what you paid for.

 

Maybe I'm missing something with all this.  And no I'm not talking about current customers.  Talking about a typical 3-4 line family.  A co-worker of mine has been thinking of switching.  I told him to wait until the fall until the network vision was almost complete in our area first.  His contract was up in October.  He lives like a quarter mile from a site and his friends have Sprint and their calls work in his house.  AT&T isn't that great at his house.  The only thing he was worried about was the large portion of roaming on his trip from through Mississippi and North LA to his parents.  There's no way I'm going to talk him into switching when it is going to cost this much now.

    • So, in summary, here are the options I tested: T-Mobile intl roaming - LTE on SoftBank, routes back to the US (~220ms to 4.2.2.4) IIJ physical SIM - LTE on NTT, local routing Airalo - LTE on SoftBank and KDDI (seems to prefer SoftBank), routed through Singapore (SingTel) Ubigi - 5G on NTT, routed through Singapore (Transatel) US Mobile East Asia roaming - 5G on SoftBank, routed through Singapore (Club SIM) Saily - 5G on NTT, routed through Hong Kong (Truphone)...seems to be poorer routing my1010 - LTE on SoftBank and KDDI (seems to prefer KDDI), routed through Taiwan (Chunghwa Telecom) I wouldn't buy up on the T-Mobile international roaming, but it's a solid fallback. If you have the US Mobile roaming eSIM that's a great option. Otherwise Ubigi, Airalo, or my1010 are all solid options, so get whatever's cheapest. I wouldn't bother trying to find a physical SIM from IIJ...the Japanese IP is nice but there's enough WiFi that you can get a Japanese IP enough for whatever you need, and eSIM flexibility is great (IIJ as eSIM but seems a bit more involved to get it to work).
    • So, the rural part of the journey still has cell service for nearly all the way, usually on B18/19/8 (depending on whether we're talking about KDDI/NTT/SoftBank). I think I saw a bit of B28 and even n28 early on in the trip, though that faded out after a bit. Once we got to where we were going though, KDDI had enough B41 to pull 150+ Mbps, while NTT and SoftBank had B1/B3 IIRC. Cell service was likewise generally fine from Kawaguchiko Station to Tokyo on the express bus to Shinjuku Station, though there were some cases where only low-band LTE was available and capacity seemed to struggle. I also figured out what I was seeing with SoftBank on 40 MHz vs. 100 MHz n77: the 40 MHz blocks are actually inside the n78 band class, but SoftBank advertises them as n77, probably to facilitate NR CA. My phone likely preferred the 40 MHz slices as they're *much* lower-frequency, ~3.4 GHz rather than ~3.9, though of course I did see the 100 MHz slice being used rather often. By contrast, when I got NR on NTT it was either n28 10x10 or, more often, 100 MHz n78. As usual, EMEA bands on my S24 don't CA, so any data speeds I saw were the result of either one LTE carrier or one LTE carrier plus one NR carrier...except for B41 LTE. KDDI seems to have more B41 bandwidth live at this point, so my1010 or Airalo works well for this, and honestly while SoftBank and NTT 5G (in descending order of availability) have 5G that's readily available it may be diminishing returns, particularly given that I still don't know how to, as someone not from Hong Kong, get an eSIM that runs on SoftBank 5G that isn't the USM "comes for free with the unlimited premium package" roaming eSIM (NTT is easy enough thanks to Ubigi). In other news, I was able to borrow someone's Rakuten eSIM and...got LTE with it. 40 Mbps down, 20 Mbps up, 40ms latency to Tokyo while in Tokyo...which isn't any worse than the Japan-based physical SIMs I had used earlier. But not getting n77 or n257 was disappointing, though I had to test the eSIM from one spot rather than bouncing around the city to find somewhere with better reception. It's currently impossible to get a SIM as a foreigner that runs on Rakuten, so that was the best I could do. Also, I know my phone doesn't have all the LTE and 5G bands needed to take full advantage of Japanese networks. My S24 is missing: B21 (1500 MHz) - NTT B11 (1500 MHz) - KDDI, SoftBank B42 (3500 MHz) - NTT, KDDI, SoftBank n79 (4900 MHz) - NTT Of the above, B42/n79 are available on the latest iPhones, though you lose n257, and I'm guessing you're not going to find B11/B21 on a phone sold outside Japan.
    • T-Mobile acquiring SoniqWave's 2.5 GHz spectrum  Another spectrum speculator down! T-Mobile is acquiring all of their licenses and their leases. Details are lacking but it looks like T-Mobile might be giving them 3.45GHz in exchange in some of the markets where they're acquiring BRS/EBS to sweeten the deal and stay below the spectrum screen. Hopefully NextWave is at the negotiating table with T-Mobile so NYC can finally get access to the full BRS/EBS band as well. 
    • Maybe. The taller buildings on one side of the street all have Fios access and the NYCHA buildings are surrounded by Verizon macros that have mmWave. I don’t think this site will add much coverage. It’d be better off inside the complex itself.
