So does that mean the issues in south Florida have been resolved? Or do we not have word on that just yet?

This is related to markets where rebanding is still occurring.  Rebanding is complete in South Florida.  There is just one agency that failed to meet its deadline (repeatedly) and keep asking for extensions.

Robert

EDIT:  I actually think it's two agencies

Man the Nexus RF performance is ridiculously good!!! I just rode my elevator up and down (while holding it in a death-grip) and could not for the life of me get the PCS signal to go below -95dBm (whereas my HTC One would be in the 100's without the death-grip)... ill keep trying and get back to you guys.

Looking forward to B26 stability like this! Would do wonders in pre-war buildings in NYC.

At my work there is a Sprint accepted PCS only tower in the shopping center across the street. Using my Ele Evo in the elevators there's no difference in call performance. Using my work provided BB on Verizon the calls always drop.

I believe this specific memo was limited to rebanding efforts along the Mexican border. I know it the South Florida issues had been previously discussed, I just don't think it is related to this specific document.

I don't know exactly what you mean by unstable.

I am in the DC market and I only see 800 voice when it's truly needed. For example, driving home from work there used to be a known dead spot at the point I crossed a river. Now, instead of the call dropping, I get the Signal Check notification that I've switched to 800 voice. When I'm clear of that area my phone then returns to what it was on before the switch.

I only see 800 for a moment.... but it's doing its job. Likewise.... if I was heading into a dead spot I'd expect to switch to 800 first then the call would be dropped as I move more into the dead spot Again, you'd only see 800 for moments.... but it's trying to give you more coverage than you would have otherwise.

Make sense?

Custom PRL's can be installed to see more 800 voice. I'm on a stock PRL.

My phone (Samsung Galaxy Victory) finally picked up on 1X 800 and it's very unstable. LTE is also unstable as well. Is this a sign of an upgrade?

Are you in need of 1x800? If you have a strong PCS signal, most of the time you device will prefer that over 1x800.

What signal strength of LTE are you getting? If it's weak, that would be why it's not staying connected.

I don't have LTE in this area yet. 800 appeared out of nowhere. I usually have a good 1900 1X signal, but service is not usable most of the time due to the network being congested. (Error code 34, etc.)

There is LTE in other areas, but it's still rather spotty.

There's been mixed reviews on 1x800 so far, likely still being fined tuned in some places. There's also still a couple of sites yet to be upgraded in your area, so that will help too when that finally happens.

The tower that I'm connected to is one of the last to be upgraded. I have Signal Check Pro with the 800 alert on, and my phone started vibrating like crazy. That's how I figured out that I was connected to 800.

Also, I'd like to apologize for any confusion. I'm new to this site.

Recent sighting of 1x800 here in the midtown Atlanta area.  I work in an underground office, and previously only received one bar of Verizon roaming.  This morning I'm receiving three of sprint!  Here's the some screenshots of the engineering screen.

Is this indicative of testing on one of the downtown sites?  The maps on S4GRU only show 800 upgrades to the southern and eastern suburbs.

Midtown Atlanta?  Now you're talking my language.  I live between Midtown and Buckhead off Peachtree.  But I noticed the same thing.  All of the 800 acceptances thus far (at least that we know of from Robert's source) have been outside the Perimeter (I-285 for those not familiar)...off to the south and east.  However, the reach of 800 is greatly improved over the propagation characteristics of a 1900 mhz signal so it's possible you connected to one of those. But I think the more likely scenario here is that new towers have had 800 voice activated closer to or within the city and that is what you are connecting to based on your signal strength deep inside the building you work in.  I just don't think you'd have had such a strong signal from a tower so distant and outside the urban core.  I would also venture to guess that even though 800 covers a pretty large area that the RF engineers have adjusted the downtilt more (in those southern and eastern suburbs) than those towers would be if they were in a truly rural area.

All of what I'm saying is pure conjecture at this point and I guess we'll have to wait and see what the next round of 800 voice acceptances shows when Robert posts it.

That said...I just updgraded to signal check pro to see if I could get 800 voice and...so far, not yet.

I had no clue who she was until I looked her up after reading your comment. Yeah there have been numerous HGTV type shows featuring homes all over this city the past few years. Not to mention a ridiculous number of major Hollywood movies being/been filmed in part or completely here. This has as much to do with the generally agreeable weather as it does with generous state and municipal tax incentives.

Light em up boys band 26 lte in north texas and im getting it from three towers near by, anyone else?

Whereabouts in north Texas?

Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

Yeah, whereabouts in North Texas. I can barely hold a LTE signal now in Fort Worth. Straight 3g most of the time. 800 LTE would be a God send.

I desperately need 1x800 as I am on the fringe of five towers. Sparse to no service for 1x voice service at my house. I hope 1x800 is more of a priority than 800 LTE.

    • Was at the Yankees vs Tigers game today and besides being a terrible day to have good seats, T-Mobile had great speeds via the stadium's DAS. I consistently saw 500-600Mbps on 5G and on LTE I got upwards of 200Mbps. I noticed that the stadiums DAS is broadcasting 140MHz n41 while macros that surround the stadium are at 80MHz.

    • I've now seen how things work in Kobe, Hiroshima, and Osaka, as well as some areas south of Osaka (e.g. Wakayama, Kinokawa), and tried three more SIMs. The two physical SIMs (different branding for each) both use IIJ, which provides a Japanese IP address/routing on NTT, aleit LTE-only, so latency is ~45ms to Tokyo. The catch with NTT is that it uses two frequency bands (B42/3500 MHz LTE, n79/4900 MHz NR) that you're not going to get on an Android sold in the US, and I'm guessing that B42 would be helpful speed-wise on that network, as it doesn't have B41. I also found one place that doesn't have cell service: a vending machine in the back of the Osaka Castle tower. Or, rather, the B8/18/19 signal is weak enough there to be unusable. Going back to 5G for a moment, I saw a fair amount of Softbank n257 in Hiroshima, as well as in some train stations between Osaka and Kobe. 4x100 MHz bandwidth, anchored by B1/3/8, with speeds sometimes exceeding 400 Mbps on the US Mobile roaming eSIM. Not quite the speeds I've seen on mmW in the States, but I've probably been on mmW for more time over the past few days than I have in the US over the past year, so I'll take it. My fastest speed test was actually on SoftBank n77 though, with 100 MHz of that plus 10x10 B8 hitting ~700 Mbps down and ~80 Mbps up with ~100ms latency...on the roaming eSIM...on the 4th floor of the hotel near Shin-Kobe station. Guessing B8 was a DAS or small cell based on signal levels, and the n77 might have been (or was just a less-used sector of the site serving the train station). I'm now 99% sure that all three providers are running DSS on band 28, and I've seen 10x10 on similar frequencies from both NTT and SoftBank IIRC, on both LTE and 5G. I also picked up one more eSIM: my1010, which is different from 1010/csl used by US Mobile's eSIM unfortunately, as it's LTE-only. On the bright side, it's cheap (10GB/7 days is like $11, and 20GB for the same period would be around $15), and can use both KDDI and SoftBank LTE. It also egresses from Taiwan (Chunghwa Telecom), though latency isn't really any better than the Singapore based eSIMs. Tomorrow will include the most rural part of our journey, so we'll see how networks hold up there, and from tomorrow night on we'll be in Tokyo, so any further reports after that will be Tokyo-centric.
    • I think the push for them is adding US Mobile as a MVNO with a priority data plan.  Ultimately, making people more aware of priority would allow them (and other carriers) to differentiate themselves from MVNOs like Consumer Cellular that advertise the same coverage. n77 has dramatically reduced the need for priority service at Verizon where the mere functioning of your phone was in jeopardy a couple of years ago if you had a low priority plan like Red Pocket. Only have heard of problems with T-Mobile in parts of Los Angeles. AT&T fell in between. All had issues at large concerts and festivals, or sporting events if your carrier has no on-site rights. Edit: Dishes native 5g network has different issues: not enough sites, limited bandwidth. Higher priority would help a few. Truth is they can push phones to AT&T or T-Mobile.
