Google Nexus 6P by Huawei (was [Rumor] Huawei Nexus phone?)

Curious for those that had the Nexus 5 or Nexus 6.  Since the Nexus units do not have the dialer codes like Sprint branded phones do, is there a way to configure your band priorities (##3282#) and check the LTE engineering settings (##33284#) on a Nexus phone?

Is anyone surprised that the Nexus 5X and 6P preorders have not gone OOS yet?  I would have thought the preorders would be sold out by now for at least the base models for all colors.

No, it doesn't surprise me at all considering they didn't have to supply all carriers individually. They have a lot more control over how inventory is managed.

Great point.  I didn't think of that.

Totally agree with this.  Plus, it's a preorder.  I've never heard of a preorder selling out.

On a somewhat related note... I went ahead and ordered a SIM through international chat this afternoon.  It's the one SeanK posted last night.

I'm extremely excited about this phone!

Here are my (smartphone) devices since I've been with Sprint, which is around 15 years now.

HTC TouchPro

HTC Evo

HTC Evo 4GLTE

LGG3

Really excited about my first Nexus phone.  I've got the Nexus 9 tablet and it's fantastic (in my opinion and for my needs)

I also wonder if the www.getHuawei.com stock is separate or common stock with the Google Store.

If it is common then that may be an easy way that they went out of stock and then suddenly everything was back in stock for all sizes.

You are going to love it. I went from Evo to Evo 3D to Nexus 5 and now Nexus 6P. Just even the ability to edit the animation speed is awesome and I love not having a skin on top of Android and just doing what I want. The only drawback on my N5 was mediocre battery life and a poor stock camera app both of which look to be resolved in the new phones.

Yeah Cletus, the battery *should* be good with the size and Marshmallow Doze. It appears the camera is one of the best as well. USB type C, fingerprint sensor.... I'm an embarrassed middle aged man thinking of Christmas morning.

For everyone that pre ordered: What are your case plans/are you planning to not buy one/are you waiting for better options to come out?

After ordering the aluminum 6P, I placed a separate order for the clear adopted case and a USB type C adapter. Both of which are being sold on the Google Store.

I am waiting see what comes out that does not cover the sensor for the camera. Hopefully there will be one with a kickstand that will work shortly. I'm a sucker for the kickstand for the few times I do use it.

Do you mind giving me the link to do this myself? And what exactly you asked for? I ordered two 6ps and would like the cards before they arrive. Thanks.

I heard clear cases get cloudy over time but I have never used one. Do you have good experiences with clear cases?

May go with microfiber pouch. With a device that size I don't want to actually put a case on it the most I may do is add a screen protector but I have to wait until those become available also.

I'm doing the same.

It works on Fi, so it must support Sprint.

It can support sprint, but that does not mean they'll whitelist it to allow it to be byod on their plans. Think of last year's moto X. Now I don't see why Sprint wouldn't allow it, but always a possibility.

For the last number look for SeanK's post on the previous page. Tell the chat rep it's for the 2015 Motorola Pure X or HTC M9.

Keep in mind we don't know for certain that this is the correct SIM yet.

You want international chat. Let me dig the link up.

I honestly don't. I'll try naked first. I've got gynormous hands. Not a huge deal if it gets cloudy. Can always pick up a cheaper and possibly better case after the 6P has been out a while.

    • Since this is kind of the general chat thread, I have to share this humorous story (at least it is to me): Since around February/March of this year, my S22U has been an absolute pain to charge. USB-C cables would immediately fall out and it progressively got worse and worse until it often took me a number of minutes to get the angle of the cable juuuussst right to get charging to occur at all (not exaggerating). The connection was so weak that even walking heavily could cause the cable to disconnect. I tried cleaning out the port with a stable, a paperclip, etc. Some dust/lint/dirt came out but the connection didn't improve one bit. Needless to say, this was a MONSTER headache and had me hating this phone. I just didn't have the finances right now for a replacement.  Which brings us to the night before last. I am angry as hell because I had spent five minutes trying to get this phone to charge and failed. I am looking in the port and I notice it doesn't look right. The walls look rough and, using a staple, the back and walls feel REALLY rough and very hard. I get some lint/dust out with the staple and it improves charging in the sense I can get it to charge but it doesn't remove any of the hard stuff. It's late and it's charging, so that's enough for now. I decide it's time to see if that hard stuff is part of the connector or not. More aggressive methods are needed! I work in a biochem lab and we have a lot of different sizes of disposable needles available. So, yesterday morning, while in the lab I grab a few different sizes of needles between 26AWG and 31 AWG. When I got home, I got to work and start probing the connector with the 26 AWG and 31 AWG needle. The stuff feels extremely hard, almost like it was part of the connector, but a bit does break off. Under examination of the bit, it's almost sandy with dust/lint embedded in it. It's not part of the connector but instead some sort of rock-hard crap! That's when I remember that I had done some rock hounding at the end of last year and in January. This involved lots of digging in very sandy/dusty soils; soils which bare more than a passing resemblance to the crap in the connector. We have our answer, this debris is basically compacted/cemented rock dust. Over time, moisture in the area combined with the compression from inserting the USB-C connector had turned it into cement. I start going nuts chiseling away at it with the 26 AWG needle. After about 5-10 minutes of constant chiseling and scraping with the 26AWG and 31AWG needles, I see the first signs of metal at the back of the connector. So it is metal around the outsides! Another 5 minutes of work and I have scraped away pretty much all of the crap in the connector. A few finishing passes with the 31AWG needle, a blast of compressed air, and it is time to see if this helped any. I plug my regular USB-C cable and holy crap it clicks into place; it hasn't done that since February! I pick up the phone and the cable has actually latched! The connector works pretty much like it did over a year ago, it's almost like having a brand new phone!
    • That's odd, they are usually almost lock step with TMO. I forgot to mention this also includes the September Security Update.
    • 417.55 MB September security update just downloaded here for S24+ unlocked   Edit:  after Sept security update install, checked and found a 13MB GP System update as well.  Still showing August 1st there however.
    • T-Mobile is selling the rest of the 3.45GHz spectrum to Columbia Capital.
    • Still nothing for my AT&T and Visible phones.
