Google Nexus 5 by LG Users Thread!

Galaxy Note 2, with a Zerolemon battery and Defender case. Got tired of it so I got a G2 and love it but I'd love to have a Nexus to play with since I've never had one. Plus I like how the N5 can be used on so many different bands.

You might want to check swappa or similar places and see if you could sell it for enough to buy a n5 outright. I get the note 2 is a year old model but it might be worth a quick check.

The n5 might surprise you, I honestly think the sole reason I'd have gotten the g2 would've been the bigger battery. It always lasts me 14-16 hours with about 30-36% screen time.

% isn't really that important when it comes to screen use and battery.  The important number is the actual time in use.  My screen battery use percentage is always between about 25-30%, but sometimes its around 5 hours usage and sometimes its about 1.  It can be the difference between an 8 hour battery life and 20 hour.

Mines usually between 3 hours and 45 minutes and 4 and a half hours.

I have a nex5 and I can't stream movies from Google it always loads and says error. But if I remove the updates it will work? Any ideas?

What specific error do you get?

It wouldn't surprise me if they include it at the same time they push out the update for the battery (and supposedly a camera update too). Not that I have had issues with either of those things.

Ahh, interesting!  I had that process issue only once so far and it happened just the other day.  Strange!  Reminded me of my Galaxy Nexus days with a warm phone and no battery...  :o

Rebooted my phone and it was back to normal.  Haven't seen it re-occur since.

So my phone needed a reboot for the clock to show the correct time. I also needed a damn good excuse why I hadn't showered, eaten breakfast, or arrived to work on time today... Not thrilled. Anyone with a second handset on sprint notice a delay in updating the time or was this device specific?

I had to reboot mine before it updated the time as well.

What time did you check? I set my alarm for 7:50a and it sounded at 8:50a

Mine reset on its own at 1am.

Mined rolled right over from 1:59am to 3:00am. (Yes I was watching).

Not gonna lie. I played with the nexus 5 the other day. A friend came over with one on magenta flavored network. Just to verify your questions, the service sucked lol. Even though I am in a VERY GOOD area. Even when I went outside it wasn't any better.

Anyhow, I loved that phone. Liked the screen size, like the sensitivity, responsiveness, and the little vibration you get when touching the screen lol, and just the overall feel of the phone.

If I re-converted back to android... The nexus would win it for me.

I swapped from a iPhone 5 when I switched from att to sprint. The futile future of jail breaking was what convinced me...I have an intense dislike for stock iOS but the actual phones used to be a level of quality above the rest that I appreciated. Gotta say I love my n5 way more than my iPhone 5. I kinda wish there was a SD card slot but hey I'm just using a OTG cable with a 64gb flash drive.

So if I were to get a ATT version I can put it on Sprint fine, but what about pre paid service. Are there any that work fine with the phone, including 4g lte? Thanks, kojitsari

I used my N5 on Straight Talk (AT&T) for a month while I waited for a Sprint SIM, LTE included.

I just started taking advantage of cloud-based storage and I'm liking it far more than I expected. Seems like it can replace whatever you would store on an SD card. My 2 laptops, N5, and wife's iPhone 5s all sync to the same account. The phones use Titanium Backup and auto-upload once a week in the middle of the night, and the laptops are able to access the same documents and app source code (with the bonus of them now being backed up) without any effort on my part.

I went with box.com because I took advantage of a 50GB free for life promo, but Dropbox and others probably offer similar functionality. Various promos seem to pop up often.

I have a drop box with 150gbs(I think) that I got for free. I just prefer keeping movies, T.V. shows, and the like on a physical drive. It makes it easy to use in places where I won't be able to download what I want to watch(usually inside of buildings waiting on the different females in my life to do something xD).

    • Was in Red Hook again and I swear there are more Link5G sites as there are Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T small cells combined in the entire neighborhood. It seemed like every other street I turned down had one installed. Hopefully carriers will start hopping on them soon. Seems like a lot of effort to go through for no one to use them.  — — — — — T-Mobile converted the Sprint site on top of NYU Langone Brooklyn in Sunset Park. I first mapped one sector of it back in November 2023 but I thought it was a small cell so I never pinned it but I ran into another sector today which caught me off guard. I'm unable to find a permit for the conversion so it's definitely a surprise. There's another T-Mobile site 1 block away that T-Mobile initially installed back in 2019 so I'm kinda surprised they're keeping both considering the Sprint conversion is on a much taller building and could potentially provide much better coverage to the entire area.  — — — — — The old permit expired for this site without any work being done but a new permit was just approved a few days ago for a T-Mobile site at this address. Description mentions 3 antennas with 2 RRUs per sector. My guess is they're doing something similar to what they did at 360 Furman St in Brooklyn where they broadcast Band 2/66 and n25/41 from one antenna. It's a bit of a downgrade considering the site it's replacing was a full build with Ericsson 6449s.
    • Still not seeing any ULS postings for pending T-Mobile UScellular merger in Dane county Wisconsin.
    • Came across another Crown Castle Solutions multi-tenant oDAS node in Brooklyn. Located at 40.7002286, -73.9612666. Nothing on T-Mobile or AT&T so I'm assuming these are all Verizon nodes that Crown Castle is anticipating another carrier will hop on down the line.
