Yesterday, evleaks outed the UA Profile for the LG LS995 on the sprintpcs.com website. CPU is a Krait, it has a Qualcomm M8974, 720 x 1280 resolution, Android 4.2.2 out of the box, Bluetooth 4.0, 2GB RAM, 32GB ROM, 2.1MP Front facing camera with 1920 x 1080 resolution, 13MP back camera with 4160 x 3120 resolution.

 

According to Sprint, it's code name is Chameleon. It's possible to see this by year's end, but I'm only speculating.

It was bound to happen with the increasing size of Smartphones, some people just don't want a 5" phone.

If my memory serves me "Chameleon" is the name of Sprint's program to offer Sprint phones to MVNOs with the ability to quickly switch to custom setups to match the MVNO via SprintID.

So while everyone is infatuated with the G2, I'm surprised no one has posted anything about this leak.

 

It's for a supposed LG G Flex, the antithesis of the Galaxy Round (cause the curve is from up to down).

 

I think it's interesting, but it's still a concept. Maybe they will release this by November if the rumors are to be believed.

I doubt it. Phones with this much of a curvature are still 3-5 years away. I'm talking demand. So I don't see this coming to light. It's like Concept Cars Automakers come out with, just to say they did it once.

 

EDIT: I have to retract my statement as it appears these stupid phones are actually coming out. Well whatever.

It won't be coming to the US that is for sure.  The Galaxy Round is only being released in Korea and I see the LG Flex going the same route. Since it is still new technology it is best for LG and Samsung to not market this worldwide until they can get a feel for the demand and interest in the Korean market.  Even harsh criticism will be accepted more easily from the korean consumers than the worldwide press.

 

I don't expect to see a curved phone to hit the US market at the very earliest in 2014 but I am guessing more like 2015 assuming it has rave reviews and the lessons learned are incorporated in the next version.

I highly doubt it will be chameleon or even that the codename is chameleon.

 

Chameleon is already used for the initial OTA HFA scheme Sprint uses that preloads all carrier data at initial device activation. I.E. If your phone does not activate correctly, your "network" will still show as Chameleon, Sprint apps will likely not work, or even be installed. This same system is used for all Sprint devices, MVNO, and prepaid devices like Virgin or Boost. This allows for a single hardware design and software load out of the box for all the phones, then at initial activation the phone gets setup for the proper network setup for whatever "carrier" it is for.

 

I doubt they'd codename a phone after the same system used to HFA and push the correct carrier files to handsets network-wide.

 

That doesn't mean it isn't the codename, just I doubt that part is true. It likely is a miscommunication or a misunderstanding by someone along the way rather than the actual name.

The LG G Flex just went though the FCC according to engadget and, for some reason, it is lacking Band 5 (850) LTE but of course has band 5 UMTS. I realize that it's going to be awhile before they start refarming band 5 but a lot (all?) of their phones with LTE have come with bands 2/4/5/17.
