Network Vision/LTE - Milwaukee Market (including Madison)

Very exciting. For anybody that is in a completed market once finished is data constantly working. When I am downtown in Milwaukee during rush hour my speech to text doesn't work which is making me think about switching to big red but if the nv will fix that issue I can wait it out.

Just get a Jelly Bean 4.1+ OS Android Device. Native on board speech to text. No network needed.

Good thought though the battery life on my epic touch running jb is terrible.

JB is pretty battery efficient for me. I have not had any battery issues at all.

Hopefully we will be seeing the first LTE tower getting lit up by the end of the month

Any new Sprint antennas on this tower. Something is being done, they have a machine heating up the ground going to a phone connection. What's going on? This is tower 1267131. ML03XC106 :)

Watch for any changes on the top 2 racks.

It always seems the tower by the Airport gets new Cell Tower equipment first. This might be one of the first to go live. Keep us posted.

I saw people working on a tower in Wauwatosa and downtown on the building with the Allen Edmonds billboard last night.

All these anecdotal updates are great but how does/can anyone know if any of these relate to NV Sprint LTE work?

If we can get an approximate address we can check the sprint tower maps and cross reference permits for the address.

Not really in the city of Milwaukee. I'm checking a few sites that I have found by address. I used google maps using the satelite feature a lot. I'm down for people sharing looking up different locations and have said so, but nobody took me up on the offer.

Looks like one of the towers just north of Wauwatosa by North and 50th have a permit out from 1/23/2013:

I still haven't found a way to look up towers within the Tosa city limits, but ones in the Milwaukee city limits are being permitted.

I was taking a look at the Milwaukee area spectrum holdings and had a question. I do not see SMR 800 spectrum listed for Sprint or Nextel in the Milwaukee area. Has it not been filed yet or does Sprint not have licenses for SMR 800 in Milwaukee?

I also looked at Milwaukee and did not see SMR 800 listed by Sprint. I am not sure how filing into this system works but, when you use this website to look at the Chicago market (where SMR 800 has been deployed) there are again no licenses shown for Sprint. Like I said, I'm not really sure how this all works, but I think there can still be hope for SMR 800 in Milwaukee.

The only places that will not be getting 800 SMR are locations along the Mexican and Canadian boarder in the exclusion zones, and Puerto Rico. Otherwise, Sprint has nationwide 800 SMR holdings, though slightly restricted in the Southeast due to SouthernLINC's 800 holdings.

Signal changed from EVDO - to ERHPD' date=' is this a good sign?

Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2

Yup, it's a good sign that means in the next few months work should start there. I'm in Wausau and have had ehrpd since Jan 1st.

one tower in the market permits

http://www.city.fitc...778Blizzard.pdf

This permit is the only lead I have for lte deployment in the Madison area. The tower is a little bit out of my way to get to but I'll for sure start driving out there every other week if not once a week to check on it's progress. What should I be looking out for in terms of changes to the tower?

I agree. A picture of what their antennas look like or what to look for would be very helpful. PICTURES.

    • Was in Red Hook again and I swear there are more Link5G sites as there are Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T small cells combined in the entire neighborhood. It seemed like every other street I turned down had one installed. Hopefully carriers will start hopping on them soon. Seems like a lot of effort to go through for no one to use them.  — — — — — T-Mobile converted the Sprint site on top of NYU Langone Brooklyn in Sunset Park. I first mapped one sector of it back in November 2023 but I thought it was a small cell so I never pinned it but I ran into another sector today which caught me off guard. I'm unable to find a permit for the conversion so it's definitely a surprise. There's another T-Mobile site 1 block away that T-Mobile initially installed back in 2019 so I'm kinda surprised they're keeping both considering the Sprint conversion is on a much taller building and coule potentially provide much better coverage to the entire area.
    • Still not seeing any ULS postings for pending T-Mobile UScellular merger in Dane county Wisconsin.
    • Came across another Crown Castle Solutions multi-tenant oDAS node in Brooklyn. Located at 40.7002286, -73.9612666. Nothing on T-Mobile or AT&T so I'm assuming these are all Verizon nodes that Crown Castle is anticipating another carrier will hop on down the line.
