Network Vision/LTE - New York City Market

I feel like sprint is halting b25 and just focusing on b41. Why would cityhall be basically %100 spark but barley any b25. Basically none.

Because B41 was deployed by Clearwire over the former Clear network.

Today, I went to a barbecue in the Bronx and was unfortunate enough to be in an area that only had legacy 3G. The network, although very crowded, loaded Instagram and web pages reasonably fast. Netflix and YouTube though, you can forget about that.

Hit some B26 around 181st and jerome ave in the Bronx, signal hovered around -90dBm, speeds were between 12-20mb sec. Good to see it spreading to more areas

Also, connected to B41 in the same location...

From Kingsbridge to Fordham its congested along the 4,D lines once your by 183rd it opens up. I don't know why such a differential in the network experience in the area. But glad to see progress! Yay

Is anyone having the issue of not receiving text or call while on spark phones ?

I did but it turned out my device was just messed up. I got a replacement and the one that I got worked flawlessly.

Connected to B41 from 58st west side hway till about 42th street, I drive in that area on a regular basis and its the first time I have ever connected. But was unable to make or receive calls while connected to this site

This was on my N5 using .15, the G2 completely ignored this site, and stayed connected to B25..

They're hyping it because Apple's iPhone 6 is supposedly going to support VoLTE. So Verizon , AT&T & T-Mobile are launching it, in upcoming preparation.

As far as I know, AT&T is the only carrier to officially have any support whatsoever, and it's only in limited test markets on one single device for the foreseeable future. Actual VoLTE support is still a ways off. For any carrier.

I believe MetroPCS does have VoLTE in limited markets, and has had it for quite a while..

True, but I can't find any info as to which devices are supported, or if it's even still in use.

Info is scarce on this, I guess once T-mobile look over, plans shifted dramatically...

Found this to add a bit more confusion...

Definitely a lack of csfb on that site. The .15 radio on the nexus will connect to it, ignoring csfb issues where your spark enabled g2 will not connect to maintain a proper network connection.

That has been my assumption, this has not been the first time I've run into this issue, but i have been told that clear sites don't host eCSFB...

I thought they did. The site has to be tied in to the rest of Sprint's network for voice and text.

eCSFB has to be active on the LTE and 1x side of things, so both the Clear site, and the nearest 1x site have to have eCSFB configured properly or you won't be able to make calls or send texts.

The majority of sprint sites in NYC already have proper eCSFB software in place, this issue only comes up with clear sites. So that would make sense if Clear sites need it as well. I'm assuming this site(s) went live recently and lacked the proper update.
