ydoucare
LCDs do better in the sun. But, the GS3 is way better than any of the older amoled screens. It may not be as bright as an LCD, but you can see your screen. Never the case with the GS1 or GS2. The GS3 is proven to be dimmer than either of the previous 2 generation Galaxy S's. Actually, the original Galaxy S is brighter than both the S2 and the S3 (source: http://www.displaymate.com/OLED_Galaxy_S123_ShootOut_1.htm). I can confirm with having owned the Epic 4G and Epic 4G Touch (which I still have and could do side-by-side comparisons).

I just know while using my Epic, I always complained about being outside with it. I haven't had the issue as much with the S3 and I know I've heard others say the same. But, I haven't literally compared them side by side so you might be right. I will try it and see.
C.A.R
Explain this, I've had my GS3 for 3 weeks now and it usually only lasts around 8 hours if i don't use it much and if I'm real lucky. So today for no apparent reason I have used it a lot more than normal and 12 and a half hours later it is only down to 38%. What's up with that??

JohnHovah
maybe you turned off auto-uploads on a cloud based backup or sync app or g+ ? could be possible you changed your password on one of those services so it cannot authenticate to constantly eat up battery in the background

Sent from my SPH-L710 using JB 4.1.1 No, it was pretty much the same mix as usual, which is a pretty decent signal. maybe you turned off auto-uploads on a cloud based backup or sync app or g+ ? could be possible you changed your password on one of those services so it cannot authenticate to constantly eat up battery in the background No, I didn't change a thing, which is why I am so stumped. And also today the battery is even better then yesterday. So strange.

The only other thing that I can imagine happening here is that your signal is better so its not draining the battery holding onto a weaker signal. Have you seen any tower upgrades in your area? (NV perhaps?)

(NV perhaps?) They have started, just, but I don't think that explains going from only lasting roughly 8 hours to this. As I type my battery still has 21% left and its been 19 hours since I unplugged it. I'm not complaining at all it just seems more than a little strange. JohnHovah
does anyone else seem to have the music player start for no apparent reason?? I can't figure for the life of me how it keeps starting up, but the only thing remotely similar when it does happen seems to be that 5 times out of 10 sensorly is running in the background. any thoughts? kendokken3
Seem to have problems getting the JB update myself. Dang assert failed errors. Have you tried the Google Services Framework method ?? I used that this past Saturday and it worked for me. Applications>All>Google services framework>clear data-force stop>system update>update Samsung software. This method will usually work although you may have to do it several times, I tried about 30 times before it got it others have gotten it in as little as 2. mirlyn
I got the OTA update notification Monday but it failed install (not surpised since I'm rooted). I was getting those assert failed errors when trying to apply the manual LJ7 update from the bootloader I'm downloading a 4.1.1 tar now to push via Odin and skip all the stepped manual updates (hopefully). Got tired of waiting for the OTAs after flashing back to LEN.
