I had a Teddy Ruxpin. My aunt thought I was younger than I was. She thought all 10 year old boys would love a story telling bear. It was great to launch in the trebuchet. The fad I really enjoyed was Garbage Pail Kids. I wish I had kept those.

Does anyone else have any feedback about the gorilla glass 2?

 

I never ever had a screen protector on the GS2 and never felt like I needed one. Years ago, I laid a hard damaging scratch into an HTC touch due to having a grain of sand or dirt on my finger when I swiped to unlock.. it devastated me and scared me into keeping a screen protector on all my phones up to the GS2.

 

On Friday at work, I noticed the GS3 is more of a finger print/residue magnet that the GS2 was. It had a heavy, dry, sticky residue that almost fooled me into believing it was scratching or the screen was defective. I got my glasses cloth and buffed it down and eventually away. All I could think was that the hand sanitizer I keep at my desk and use all day (yes, I'm OCD about germs) disagreed with it. Since then , i've noticed all weekend that the screen seems more susceptible to any oils or residue on my hands than the GS2 and tends to seem "dry" to the touch.

 

I gave in and used some reward zone cash on a zagg HD screen protector for the GS3 I'm a little sad that I'm using one, I just don't want to end up with a scratched screen.

So i have found a particular problem with the antenna on the GS3. after watching a dissasembly video i noticed that the antenna goes up around the volum rocker so i just did a test. over and over again. here are my findings.

 

 

Holding the phone in my right hand i get around -102 to 104db. Turning the phone on its side so the volume rocker is facing up it almost instantly drops down to -92db. likewise turning the phone back up quickly sees the signal go back to -102 -104.

 

When i hold the phone on the side and do a 3G speed test i get better ping times and i almost double my download speed from around 500Kbps to 1000Kbps. Upload speed goes up as well but not as much as the download speed.

 

has anyone else noticed this?

 

I am still waiting on the GS3 Vs Evo4GLte review. i really want to see how the signal stack.

If you are that concerned about scratches then continue using a screen protector. Gorilla Glass may do well against coins, keys, etc...... but its no match for any kind of sand/silica. Personally I would rather just take my chances with out a screen protector, I just don't like how they feel. I would rather feel glass against my finger tips than a screen protector.

Got the software update last nite. Could be my imagination, but I believe my battery life has improved . Before bed, was at 50%. After reading news this morning, using forum runner, facebook and 20 minutes of spotify, im at 39%

Speaking of Galaxy S3, seems that there is a querty keyboard version coming to T-Mobile. But it doesn't have the 2GM ram like the S3. Looking at the image, I am unsure if I like the design, especially since it would add more bulk to the phone. Something tells me a Sprint version might also be forthcoming to compete with the Motorola Photon Q.

I just got the update pushed to me. Just installed and rebooted. I also notice my PRL changed from 25004 to 25005.

Looking at the image, I am unsure if I like the design, especially since it would add more bulk to the phone. Something tells me a Sprint version might also be forthcoming to compete with the Motorola Photon Q.

Now that I've stopped constantly playing with my phone, I now have all-day battery life. My guess is that the first few discharges/recharges helped condition the battery for this as well. Maybe the update helped too...

So far, I am not impressed with battery life on my GS-III. It's standy battery life is slightly worse than the GNex, but it's active usage battery life is better than the GNex. The EVO LTE battery life is far, far better than the GS-III after 48 hours of usage.

 

I pretty much prefer everything on the GS-III over the EVO LTE except battery life and the camera button. I really like the camera button on the EVO LTE. Don't get me wrong, the battery life is more than usable. And it's better than any phone I've ever had. However, the EVO LTE is the best battery sipping device I've ever used to date.

Were you using 3G that entire time? When I use WI-FI I get easily 13 hours

I'm noticing an improving battery life in my GS-III. Maybe a 25% improvement in life after 6 days?

I will have to check the battery on mine. as a heavy user i generally plug it in frequently enough that i have not noticed yet. I will also check the comparison of battery life drain on my gs2's with the new stock ics update vs a custom rom

I'm pretty happy with my battery life - it gets me through the day. Make sure you don't have any partial wake locks keeping the phone from sleeping. Something I noticed first few days when I got the phone - my standby battery life was great in the morning until about lunch time, then it drained much faster in the afternoon. Turns out the stock Gallery app would try to do a sync at around lunch time, and it stayed awake the rest of the day.

 

So now after lunch, I'll go and manually close the program myself and battery has been better. I'll go home (about 10 hours off the charger) with 65-70% battery left, where previously I would have 45-50% battery left because of the Gallery app not allowing the phone to sleep. I don't use the phone much at work, maybe check facebook or Pulse newsreader here and there, but also at lunch time I'll probably check the internet or read news for about 30 minutes.

Has anyone else noticed that the charge complete notification advises us to unplug the phone when the charge is complete?

 

Is that something that is important to do? Do you all do it?

 

I prefer to keep my phone at 100% while I have the opportunity to charge it.
