Cool, works on my Xr! Thanks. Showing “0” in a non-VoLTE market. Makes sense. ?

Edit: Think this thread should be renamed for XS/Xr?

We actually did make a separate thread for the iPhone XR. See here: iPhone XR Thread

I know I should not be happy as Sprint is dead last with VoLTE but I am. It is working wonderfully for me I still have not connected to any T-Mobile towers yet.

Signal is still low on the strength icons.

Is there a way to switch to a numerical value instead of the strength icons. I know it was possible on the Qualcomm modems?

So is it confirmed that this phone has HPUE? Kinda getting a bit bored of Android, might switch come March when my lease is up.

Yes: https://newsroom.sprint.com/iphone-xs-iphone-xs-max-apple-watch-series-4-arrive-at-sprint-on-sept-21-iphone-xr-available-from-sprint-on-oct-26.htm

Fastest iPhones on Sprint’s Next-Gen Network
With advanced features and HPUE (high performance user equipment), iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR will offer better network coverage, including indoors, and the best-ever iPhone network performance on the Sprint network.

A little anecdotal note on radio performance. I am currently a location with known poor coverage. We have 3 new phones - iPhone XS, XS Max, and LG V40. The iPhones are having no trouble picking up a usable LTE signal inside, but the V40 only connects to 3G unless I go outside, and the data is barely usable. It is band 26 LTE (800MHz) based on Signal Check on the V40 when I go outside and pick up the LTE signal. Actually now that I think about it, the V40 is probably on 1xrtt inside, not 3G, because Signal Check is showing 800 for both CDMA and LTE.

iOS 12.1.1 just dropped...... Woohoo!!!
Bring on the VoLTE!
Works on my iPhone XS and a friend’s iPhone 8.
Don’t have anything older than that to test.

VoLTE confirmed?
Also do you have to be in a VoLTE market?

Yes and yes. VoLTE is live in the Washington, DC Market on my iPhone XS and the iPhone 8 I tested (and I assume the 8 Plus as well).

I got the option to enable VoLTE in my cellular settings after updating on my IPhone 8 Plus, but I’m in the Jacksonville market and as far as I know VoLTE hasn’t been enabled in this particular market yet.

Does anyone know if the Jacksonville market will be included in the next round of VoLTE deployments? I know I’ve been having some issues lately calling out and having calls dropped. Idk if that’s because of testing or whatnot but I’m hoping that they’re about to launch in our market soon.

So I updated my phone this evening and and changed the setting for voice to work over LTE. I made a call to someone on consumer cellular (which is at&t if I’m correct) and had WiFi off and my LTE logo was still up so I tried using data during the call and it worked throughout the call. Then a made a call after to a sprint subscriber after on an iPhone XS updated but did not have the setting enabled and my LTE dropped during the call. I understand why it wasn’t working on the second call but how was it working during a call with an AT&T user? Does volte work across carriers?

The other user your calling has no bearing as to whether your call will be routed through VoLTE or not. If the setting is enabled on your device and your in a supported area you will be able to use data and voice simultaneously.

I didn’t notice initially but the newest radio doesn’t seem to be transitioning as smoothly in roaming areas or holding onto a weaker signal. Kinda sad since at one point it seemed to be working flawlessly in my area and experience before.

I’m having an issue where I won’t get a data connection. I have to power the phone off and restart it to get data.

Was this after the 12.1.2 update?
