I'd wager that 99.9% of the people on this thread have never worked in wireless retail and really have no idea what it takes to do so.

Neither do those sales people. Learn about what you sell. Know about the different phones, the difference between TouchWiz and Sense. The advantages of have a second screen, a wide angle lens, etc. Sell the company you work for without leaning on the standard script.

 

It's like a Best Buy rep trying to sell you a TV, computer, washing machine. They really don't know the product or what they sell. Don't know the difference between OLED or LED.

 

Go walk into a store where people are salesmen and actually know there product, the differences in features and options for each piece, how the stuff is made, on and on. Professionals at what they do.

 

The difference is this. One group it is there career, the other it is a job.

 

You don't need to walk in anyone's shoes if you can see one has no clue what they are doing. Sadly, this is all too common in wireless and I think it is just how they are trained. A friend of mine worked at a TMobile call center and she thought she knew it all. Actually it was the standard bs scripts she learned from and felt like she was an expert.

Band 2 is PCS. Probably refarmed spectrum.

They're actively taking PCS (1900) spectrum from HSPA and refarming it into LTE.  Good for additional bandwidth.  Jacksonville FL has 20x20 B4, 10x10 B2, and 5x5 B12 on LTE and can all be aggregated.

Depends on how quickly they clear it. Some will take a few months while other will take years.

In the Newsroom post, they say they should clear 10mhz of it this year and later this year B71-capable devices will hit the shelves.

At the end of the day, its just more stop gap spectrum. If this takes 2 to 3 years to deploy, no one will care.

TMo wants to deploy some EoY? That's not up to them, it's up to the broadcasters.

Sounds like Sprint tooting the B41 horn for the last 4-5 years...

 

I don't like TMobile's management, but they do deploy quickly. Way faster than Sprint has ever done.

We'll see. TMobile has a good history when it comes to vacating bands (see B12 deployment.) They must already be in the process of vacating some of the spectrum for use by eoy 2017.

For areas with 20x20 will the band be that big? I thought there were limitations on how large the band could be (i.e. Multiple lte carriers)

Currently you can deploy up to 20x20 per LTE carrier but if you have say 50 MHz you can deploy two 20x20 LTE carriers and one 10x10 5x5 LTE carrier.  Currently you can CA up to 5x20 LTE carriers for a total of 100 MHz aggregated.  However I think newer LTE releases are going to expand that limit so that you can aggregate more than 100 MHz.

 

Edit: Screwed up on the math.  It should be an additional 5x5 LTE carrier.

This is huge for T-Mobile. They're really going to take off in signal reliability. A minimum of 10x10 in most markets and a few with 15x15. Sprint should have participated in this auction. B26 isn't cutting it.

No... if you have 50MHz, you can deploy ONE 20x20 and ONE 5x5.
