Samsung Galaxy Note 2

It's a Lil bit of everything. The phone isn't too big like I thought it would be, I have better connection in places where my s3 had minor to no connection, and the battery life really does it for me. I work a 12 hour shift and with hour usage, I can go all day without a charge. it's basically a supersized s3 with a pen, with extra power (quad core), pentile-less screen. The only negative for is the lack of svdo but I never used it that much. It was very kinda just nice to have.
i really appreciate your feedback. I'm not too worried about the size as i spent about fifteen minutes playing with one in the store and almost couldn't readjust my eyes to my current phone (about four inches) that's great to hear about the experience with better signal strength. Has anyone been using Swype with their phone? Ate you able to type one handed pretty well?

There is a one handed setting that pushes the keyboard over to one side or the other. Although, I haven't used it yet. One handed operation is its one significant con. However, it is not an Achilles heel. But it will not be everyone. That's for sure.

Not going back to the HTC EVO 4G unless I need fast data for a night or two. Not used the pen on the 2 much at all, I probably could have lived with a GS3 just as well both are big improvements from the EVO. Only issues I have is not finding settings on the phone, after 2 and half years on the EVO I knew where every setting lived and had them all the way I liked.

My note 2 people! Are you guys still enjoying the heck out of your device? I think I'm going to bite on it' date=' but wondered if anyone that still has multiple devices has found themselves still using the s3 or is the note just so amazing that you wouldn't go back to anything else?

Love this device. My tf101 died and i replaced that and my gs2 with the note 2. I got mine the minute it went on sale and haven't put it down. It's my podcatcher, ebook reader, phone, tablet, notepad, etc.

I love it! It definitely has much better reception in general than the EVO LTE. I can actually, some of the time ('cause it is weak), get 4G LTE at work!! And, it turns out there is LTE all over Atlanta. I get it almost everywhere, while I practically *never* saw it with the EVO. And, with no multitasking issue, plenty of memory, plenty of storage (I got a 64GB SDXC card, too), and an amazingly fast processor, I couldn't be happier. My only improvement would be the screen. While the automatic backlight is much, much better, I do think the EVo's screen is amazing: much better in direct sunlight. However, if the Note 2's screen were a higher resolution (like 1080p), I would not care about direct sunlight. Still, it is a very crisp, clear screen and I'm not finding it to be a disappointment after a few days' use.

While the automatic backlight is much, much better...

The Galaxy Note 2 has no backlight. AMOLED screens -- for better and for worse -- are self illuminating. They employ additive, rather than subtractive color.

That's what I get for being sloppy! Since it's so often referred to as a "backlight," I went ahead and used that word. Please just replace "backlight" with "brightness" in my post when reading it!

I am glad, though, that I'm not likely to keep any phone long enough that I'll have to worry about the AMOLED getting burn-in or other problems.

So somehow Sprint has decided that my newly upgraded less than 6 months old EVO4GLTE is already eligible for upgrade. I also got the best buy buy back on the phone so they will give me $350 for it right now.

Just trying to decide if I should jump to the note. anyone who was a sense UI user that likes samsungs better?

I don't like Sense or TouchWiz. I'd much prefer a vanilla AOSP interface. However, until AOSP has multi-view, I'll be sticking to TouchWiz

    • Since this is kind of the general chat thread, I have to share this humorous story (at least it is to me): Since around February/March of this year, my S22U has been an absolute pain to charge. USB-C cables would immediately fall out and it progressively got worse and worse until it often took me a number of minutes to get the angle of the cable juuuussst right to get charging to occur at all (not exaggerating). The connection was so weak that even walking heavily could cause the cable to disconnect. I tried cleaning out the port with a stable, a paperclip, etc. Some dust/lint/dirt came out but the connection didn't improve one bit. Needless to say, this was a MONSTER headache and had me hating this phone. I just didn't have the finances right now for a replacement.  Which brings us to the night before last. I am angry as hell because I had spent five minutes trying to get this phone to charge and failed. I am looking in the port and I notice it doesn't look right. The walls look rough and, using a staple, the back and walls feel REALLY rough and very hard. I get some lint/dust out with the staple and it improves charging in the sense I can get it to charge but it doesn't remove any of the hard stuff. It's late and it's charging, so that's enough for now. I decide it's time to see if that hard stuff is part of the connector or not. More aggressive methods are needed! I work in a biochem lab and we have a lot of different sizes of disposable needles available. So, yesterday morning, while in the lab I grab a few different sizes of needles between 26AWG and 31 AWG. When I got home, I got to work and start probing the connector with the 26 AWG and 31 AWG needle. The stuff feels extremely hard, almost like it was part of the connector, but a bit does break off. Under examination of the bit, it's almost sandy with dust/lint embedded in it. It's not part of the connector but instead some sort of rock-hard crap! That's when I remember that I had done some rock hounding at the end of last year and in January. This involved lots of digging in very sandy/dusty soils; soils which bare more than a passing resemblance to the crap in the connector. We have our answer, this debris is basically compacted/cemented rock dust. Over time, moisture in the area combined with the compression from inserting the USB-C connector had turned it into cement. I start going nuts chiseling away at it with the 26 AWG needle. After about 5-10 minutes of constant chiseling and scraping with the 26AWG and 31AWG needles, I see the first signs of metal at the back of the connector. So it is metal around the outsides! Another 5 minutes of work and I have scraped away pretty much all of the crap in the connector. A few finishing passes with the 31AWG needle, a blast of compressed air, and it is time to see if this helped any. I plug my regular USB-C cable and holy crap it clicks into place; it hasn't done that since February! I pick up the phone and the cable has actually latched! The connector works pretty much like it did over a year ago, it's almost like having a brand new phone!
    • That's odd, they are usually almost lock step with TMO. I forgot to mention this also includes the September Security Update.
    • 417.55 MB September security update just downloaded here for S24+ unlocked   Edit:  after Sept security update install, checked and found a 13MB GP System update as well.  Still showing August 1st there however.
    • T-Mobile is selling the rest of the 3.45GHz spectrum to Columbia Capital.
    • Still nothing for my AT&T and Visible phones.
