Not as bad as the Giants fan wearing his World Series jersey last night to the game......he was given proper goodbye.

That's like someone wearing a Red Sox jersey at Yankee Stadium. I believe we are legally allowed to throw them off the bleachers.

Does anyone here live near or work at/near the Sprint store in Olathe near near 134th Street and Blackbob Road? Looks like it is on fire tonight.

Yep my Dad does. Looks like whole strip center going to be complete loss.

I knew competing networks had fanatics...but damn that's taking butthurt a little too far[emoji15].

In all seriousness though, hopefully no one got hurt.

Sounds like everything was already closed. If there was anyone inside, seems they got out ok from what I can tell.

It was probably Fabian.

Yes, in a desperate attempt to help rid the world of the evil Sprint and convert all the other oppressed "twin bell" customers to T-Mobile's <precisely mimic marketing garble> network with ~450 million pops covered and 310 pops of LTE.   :tu:

So I'm going to guess by now that there's no more adjustments being done in wichita? There's so many places driving on the west side that I drop down to 3g it's sad. Even when I'm outside for a walk around maple and Tyler I'll fall to 3g or have a -100 db B26 signal that can't even stream google play. Yeah when I pick up a B41 signal driving down Kellogg and other places its nice but the network I see right now in Wichita is as bad as I've ever seen it. All I want to do is stream google play music while I drive and not have to worry about loading my music before I leave WiFi. I know I could download stations but I don't think this is too much to ask of a carrier in 2015. Pretty much anywhere from 235 and maple west to 119th i treat as 3G. Also I'm using a G2 that I plan to keep as long as I can.

I have a T-Mobile nexus 7 I use every day at work to stream and i'm considering adding a hotspot to keep in my vehicle just for streaming but that also has its limits. I remember reading how the s5 had the capability to use WiFi and cell networks simultaneously to boost download speeds. Is there any work around so I could use T-Mobile on WiFi and sprint LTE to use both networks and not have to switch manually between the two? Seems like a good idea if it's possible. This probably isn't the right place to ask but figured I'd give it a shot.

LG G2 was a first gen Triband device with average RF capabilities. You may want to try a new Triband device with really good RF characteristics. I think you'll be surprised at the improvement in signal and speed and ability to reconnect fast to LTE if you lose it.

Early devices drop to 3G easier and then not want to get back on to LTE when back in range. Creating the illusion that 3G is more prevalent than it is and LTE is smaller. Plus, having a stronger LTE signal in the same places will result in faster speeds. The LG G2 was the very first Triband device. Lots of tweaking since then.

If you don't want to try a new generation Triband phone on Sprint, then maybe it's time for you to move to Tmo. It's your money, make the best choice for you.

Grab a nexus 5 off Swappa, its cheap and performs stellar in the kansas market. Plus if you decide to travel over to the greener turfed pastures of T-mobile you can use it on their network (as long as it isn't an n5 purchased from T-Mobile, sprint blocked theirs from being activated on sprints network).

I've debated getting a nexus 5 but I'm so used to knock on on my g2 that I'm not sure I could go back. I'll have to research and see if anyone has got that to work on the N5. I saw refurbished unlocked nexus 5s for $190 that I should have bought but didn't.

Yeah sounds like I just need to upgrade phones and if that doesn't work switch my phone to Tmo and drop my tablet data plan. As much as I hate to do that. Unlimited google play streaming with 30-55Mb down has really spoiled me.

Keep in mind that the G2 is a bigger device and also has a rear power button, so knock 2 wake is more of a necessity than a great feature.

Also, you can easily root the N5, and enable knock 2 wake (which I use religiously on my N6) and it works well enough.

Cool, wasn't sure if knock on was possible or not. I will definitely check that out! I really like my g2 tho I hate to see it go. Pretty sure ive had this phone longer than any other.

Ill be honest, I think you would be better served with an LG G3 or wait on the G4.

If your on a tighter budget the G3 is actually a great device with excellent radio performance, and since your coming from G2, its a perfect upgrade path.

True,  I guess the only advantage to a nexus 5 is that i could jump to Tmo without having to get another phone.  Ill keep my eye out for either.

Thanks

Drove through the whole very boring state of Kansas on I-70W yesterday and was pleasantly surprised that I had LTE almost throughout the whole state. I didn't keep close track but I believe I lost LTE from Hays westward all the way until I got to Denver. For a state with so many fields of grass, who would have thought LTE would have reached cross country?

LTE should have ended at Salina. From Salina to Denver you are roaming on NexTech who is not sharing LTE with Sprint yet.

David, I know you're super busy with the weather. I am just making sure that you have been getting my tower CSV files. Have you received them and just not enough time in take a look at them? I appreciate your help and efforts to the site!

    • Since this is kind of the general chat thread, I have to share this humorous story (at least it is to me): Since around February/March of this year, my S22U has been an absolute pain to charge. USB-C cables would immediately fall out and it progressively got worse and worse until it often took me a number of minutes to get the angle of the cable juuuussst right to get charging to occur at all (not exaggerating). The connection was so weak that even walking heavily could cause the cable to disconnect. I tried cleaning out the port with a stable, a paperclip, etc. Some dust/lint/dirt came out but the connection didn't improve one bit. Needless to say, this was a MONSTER headache and had me hating this phone. I just didn't have the finances right now for a replacement.  Which brings us to the night before last. I am angry as hell because I had spent five minutes trying to get this phone to charge and failed. I am looking in the port and I notice it doesn't look right. The walls look rough and, using a staple, the back and walls feel REALLY rough and very hard. I get some lint/dust out with the staple and it improves charging in the sense I can get it to charge but it doesn't remove any of the hard stuff. It's late and it's charging, so that's enough for now. I decide it's time to see if that hard stuff is part of the connector or not. More aggressive methods are needed! I work in a biochem lab and we have a lot of different sizes of disposable needles available. So, yesterday morning, while in the lab I grab a few different sizes of needles between 26AWG and 31 AWG. When I got home, I got to work and start probing the connector with the 26 AWG and 31 AWG needle. The stuff feels extremely hard, almost like it was part of the connector, but a bit does break off. Under examination of the bit, it's almost sandy with dust/lint embedded in it. It's not part of the connector but instead some sort of rock-hard crap! That's when I remember that I had done some rock hounding at the end of last year and in January. This involved lots of digging in very sandy/dusty soils; soils which bare more than a passing resemblance to the crap in the connector. We have our answer, this debris is basically compacted/cemented rock dust. Over time, moisture in the area combined with the compression from inserting the USB-C connector had turned it into cement. I start going nuts chiseling away at it with the 26 AWG needle. After about 5-10 minutes of constant chiseling and scraping with the 26AWG and 31AWG needles, I see the first signs of metal at the back of the connector. So it is metal around the outsides! Another 5 minutes of work and I have scraped away pretty much all of the crap in the connector. A few finishing passes with the 31AWG needle, a blast of compressed air, and it is time to see if this helped any. I plug my regular USB-C cable and holy crap it clicks into place; it hasn't done that since February! I pick up the phone and the cable has actually latched! The connector works pretty much like it did over a year ago, it's almost like having a brand new phone!
    • That's odd, they are usually almost lock step with TMO. I forgot to mention this also includes the September Security Update.
    • 417.55 MB September security update just downloaded here for S24+ unlocked   Edit:  after Sept security update install, checked and found a 13MB GP System update as well.  Still showing August 1st there however.
    • T-Mobile is selling the rest of the 3.45GHz spectrum to Columbia Capital.
    • Still nothing for my AT&T and Visible phones.
