Well looks like Sprint put in a huge order for 8t8r equipment, so it looks like its happening as we speak.

I certainly hope so. Cause connecting to a 800Mhz 1x site from 10 miles away is not my idea of fun.

I would not be with a carrier that's nearest site is 10 miles away from me.. No equipment will help that.

No, I get good band 41 coverage outside. Inside my house however it's totally hit and miss. In certain spots I do connect to a 1x site from 10 miles away.

I found a cell site that might be the one giving me LTE. The last I knew it was a GMO site. It is now broadcasting LTE B25 and B26. They must have upgraded the backhaul because I am pulling around 30 meg down. The tower is 3-4 miles away from my location. I am not sure if 3-4 miles is too far but it's the only site I can find LTE on. I did map some on sensorly.com. If you are interested the zip code is 18707 or Mountain Top PA. You will see LTE starting to color in. I will map a little more today and tomorrow.

The chances of you pulling 30 mb down on a band 25/26 site that is 3-4 miles away is highly unlikely. Especially if it's a gmo. Those speeds only exist on sites with basically no one on them and you have to at least be able to see the equipment on the tower.

I am sorry, I should have clarified. I am getting 30 down near the cell site. Less than a mile. 2 meg at the 3-4 mile mark.

That sounds about right.   At 3-4 miles things start to significantly slow down.   How much it slows dow depends on the traffic load and how many obstructions are located between you and the cell site.   You can get a 8-10 meg download at 3 miles from the site if conditions are just right. But you also can get absolutely nothing at less than 3 miles if the signal is blocked by heavy buildings and trees.

What's your thoughts on Sprint saying that next year they are increasing spending on the network since more permits have been granted? What's your expectations for Sprint in 2017?

The reason spending was down in 2016 is cause of small cell delays. More movement should finally happen in 2017. Sprint needs them in my area. To many 3G spotty LTE areas. Some on are freeways where small cells don't really work. I don't know what they have planned for macro sites.

With roughly 17,000 sites still without band 41 I hope they work on getting macros with this equipment, implentment 4x4 mimo, voLTE, install a few thousand small cells, get these spectrum swaps rolling, and band 25 with 15x15 and 10x10 on towers, getting band 26 on most ibez towers and coverting some gmo sites. I don't see all of this getting done next year but at least some.

Unfortunately a small amount of areas they can only do 15x15. Their equipment is not approved for it yet either. Band 41 is ready for 4x4 and 256 qam. They have plans for it in band 25 plus band 25+25 Carrier aggregation. So far 10x10 has only happened in areas with enough spectrum for 20x20. There are areas with enough for 15x15 so hopefully thos will see 10x10.

That would be bomb if they did all this. This there will put them really on the map big time. It's going to be interesting to see how next year play out. I'll say after next year will set the tone for Sprint going forward.

Let's also not forget there are still no GMO towers with no LTE that needs to change first

In my area 10x10 on b25 has helped out alot since for some reason my 2CA has removed itself for 2 months now. I just don't like b26 it's trash to me.

B26 is only useful for smaller tasks like email, web browsing and sometimes streaming music but for video streaming or downloading apps this is not the band you want to be on. I always though band 25 and 26 should have had CA.

What ever happened to that second wave spectrum swap between T-Mobile and Verizon anyway? Last time I heard about it was in March.
