Some more big news today:

Mayor Emanuel and Sprint Announce More Than 1,000 New Jobs and Investment of Nearly $150 Million to Chicago by the End of 2016

CHICAGO (BUSINESS WIRE), September 01, 2015 - Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Sprint(NYSE:S) announced today an expansion of Sprint® for Chicago, which will add more than 750 new jobs to neighborhoods throughout Chicago and an expected investment of nearly $150 million by the end of 2016. Today’s announcement builds on the 300 new jobs that Mayor Emanuel and Sprint announced in March 2015 when launching the Sprint® for Chicago initiative, which is dedicated to improving customer service and simplifying the brand experience. In total, Sprint expects to add more than 1,000 new jobs in Chicago by the end of 2016.

Sprint currently employs more than 800 employees and has more than 160 stores across Chicagoland. Today’s announcement not only doubles the company’s headcount but increases network spend from $45 million to nearly $150 million over the next two years in the city of Chicago and $250 million in Chicagoland.

Chicago will be the first Sprint city upgraded to an even faster network with the deployment of LTE Advanced technologies.

New cell sites will be located in neighborhoods throughout the city and include the areas around Rush University Medical Center, areas surrounding Garfield Park, and along Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) subway routes as part of the city’s project to upgrade the Chicago subway’s wireless network to 4G.

And the Pope didn't even have to go!  :)

Yeah, well, Kauffman Stadium is in Kansas City.  Of course, Sprint is good there.  But Sprint sucks everywhere else.  Rabble, rabble, rabble...

You remember a year ago when people were making fun of Sprint's network in their home town? Now everything's quiet since Sprint's top dog there.

Sprint did not suck in KC a year ago, it outperformed AT&T, Verizon, and T-mobile throughout the town (which I witnessed first hand along with hundreds of other students). Anyone complaining either bought a popular crappy RF performing device (looking at you Samsung >.>), already had a crappy RF device, or had a handset that didn't support the full network. The latter is partially Sprint's fault for not running a promotion to give away mid range Spark handsets to current users, or offer Flagship phones at a discounted rate.

I'm very excited about this semester. I think we're going to see much more of what Sprint is getting done now that they are on course and have their eyes on the prize. Last semester was the beginning and 2H 2014 was more like the result of certain NV upgrade completions.

Well now they've got a blueprint that apparently works according to third-party testing. Now just duplicate their Kauffman Stadium efforts at every NFL, NCAA, MLB, NBA and NHL stadium and arena and they'll be cooking with gas.

I'm at Busch Stadium and have usable data. This is a first!

Visited Washington Nationals stadium over the weekend and was happy to see 5mbs down/4mbs up from neighboring Clear macro sites with 35k in attendance.

Was unable to connect to wifi, but Sprint performed perfectly during the game.

Yeah, halfway between Harrisburg and Philadelphia, right on the line of the two markets and Semi-Rural. Still the patches of LTE here and there is really fast!

Sorry to interrupt the important foodie matters here...but I think I figured out what happened around here...we got GMO sites during Network Vision. So our we must not have got new panels, just ground upgrades.

http://s4gru.com/index.php?/blog/1/entry-340-sprint-deploys-special-ground-mount-option-network-vision-sites-in-some-low-capacity-and-high-engineering-locations/#commentsStart

Does anyone know if the GMO upgrade included eHRPD because that is everywhere around ...no more EV-DO.

Anyone seeing a full fork-lift upgrade on sites on the low priority list of NV?

Interesting phone choices for this half

I can't wait for all of the "the tests are totally, utterly invalid 'cause they used different devices" crap we're gonna hear over the next few months. Any reason they couldn't just use a GS6?

Sprint leasing B12 spectrum from Ntelos?

https://www.reddit.com/r/tmobile/comments/3j9he6/sprint_leases_700_mhz_ablock_from_c_spire_in/

Can anyone chime in here?  Wouldn't it be very expensive for Sprint to roll out B12 (more than B26/B25) in Memphis?

C Spire.

And they probably won't deploy it.

They're leasing spectrum to each other. If you read the comments lilotimz states that Sprint is probably aiming for contiguity of PCS so that they can deploy 10x10 in the 11 counties that this deal is taking place in.

Look at the PCS holding of Sprint and AT&T and cspire. The 700 can be hosted on the Sprint network easily à la the same 700Mhz antenna and rrus11 B12 as T-Mobile while the PCS can be utilized to do a realignment with AT&t. Realign the two 7.5 mhz c blocks and both Sprint and AT&T will have contiguous spectrum. Sprint would get 12.5 mhm of contiguous 1902.5-1915 which is enough to deploy a 10x10 B25 carrier.

It's a scratch my back scratch your back thing really. C-Spire gets to use Sprint's spectrum and Sprint gets to use C-Spire's spectrum.
