I just went to the apple store about my LTE issues - I had a bad cellular radio & the replacement 5S is amazingly better at scanning, picking up, & holding the signal.

Now I just need to keep it scratch free for the next 4 weeks so I can turn this baby into an iPhone 6. :)

I have similar issues with mine. I'm on 3g and my fiance's 5s right next to me is on LTE. I drop to 3g way too much. What did you tell Apple? I may give it a shot this weekend.

Funny how we are all mysteriously in the same boat. I wonder if there wasn't a bad set of modems?

Interesting... I have no other devices to compare with but my brothers and his gfs iphone seem to be on LTE when I am.

I've been noticing my service acting funny in normally good areas. Hopefully it's just Network Vision, but I'll have them check it just in case.

I told them I verified with Sprint via telephone support that towers in my area of coverage (two zip codes I'm at for 90% of the work week) were Upgraded and Optimized for LTE. I explained that I updated the PRL (##UPDATE#) after a factory restore and the problem persisted. I made it clear that I had previously had LTE at those locations.

The Genius Bar employee did a quick diagnostic and then pulled a new 64GB space gray iPhone 5S out of the replacement stock and we set it up. He said that it's not really worth Apple's time to continue to troubleshoot the device when it could be a hardware issue with a myriad of parts.

It helped that it was Friday afternoon and the store was packed - the appointments are scheduled for 20 minutes - and swapping phones seems like the easiest fix in a time crunch.

If it helps, this was a launch day 5S.

Usually the first couple batches have weird issues but when the hype slows down the phones tend to be better.

I just had to get my lifeproof case replaced because the volume switch was tearing basically compromising the "waterproofness" of the case. This new case is a million times better than my first one. It's stiffer and feels more solidly put together. Also the screen protector is clearer and whites are white rather than an off grey.

I immediately noticed that my screen looked a lot more sharp on the replacement. As a designer, I have a pretty trained eye for things like this, and I even noticed that the color temperature seemed a bit more cool.

I see that on most phones (regardless of manufacturer). On occasion when activating phones side by side of the same model you can see a stark difference in screen. Move them apart and they both look great. Put them next to each other and you can't unsee it.

There's a contractor in my store today measuring and taking photographs for a new apple display that is going in stores soon....

Your teasing us so far ahead of time makes it all worth it! :tu:

We're now 3 weeks away from the official announcement, and the rumors still haven't stopped.

At this point, my biggest ask will be to keep with the design language found in the leaks (thinner bezels, larger screen), and better battery life.

Most important things for me are: thinner bezels, battery life, spark, &  amazing camera.

Oh, and obviously it has to look amazing..But that is a given.

"Everyday, more photos are taken with the iPhone than any other camera." It's important for me, because I take photos of almost everything.

Me too. With kids, that camera is the most valuable thing I have with me at all times.

Supposedly, according to macrumors.com, the i6 will be using MDM9625 and not 9635. Boo, hiss...! Does anybody know the differences between the two? I think one of the differences is that the 9625 is fabbed on the .28nm process vs the .20nm process for the 9635.

The MDM9635 is Category 6, while the MDM9625 is Category 4. So, the latter is not capable of carrier aggregation beyond 20 MHz FDD/TDD total. In other words, even if iPhone 6 does support band 41 TD-LTE, it will not support carrier aggregation. Once again, Apple will be a year behind the times in RF.

I know it is still speculation, but this doesn't surprise me in the least.

Ok, for all of iphone gurus, interpretation needed:

This is S4GURU, not iPhoneGURU.

;)

    • If so, I'm wanting to see if any others of you have been having intermittent internet issues.   The last week or two, internet just seems to intermittently stop/pause for various periods of time....when the halt/pause lets up throughput will seem normal/very snappy as you'd expect on a 1 Gig line, until its not again.  My desk with both personal PC and work laptop are in our basement with a Cat 6 run straight from the Verizon router.  I've mostly noted it when trying to go through and clean out mail from my hotmail account I've had a few decades now (to be clear off that mention, I don't have decades worth of mail pending ha - like 100-200 unreads max if that each time I go through them), but I know its not something relegated to only the outlook.live.com endpoint because I check other tabs/sites when the issues crop up and they're hanging/spinning too. I've not yet tried calling VZ tech support and wanted to check/poll for others here to see if anyone using the service might have been wrestling with similar issues.   Addendum:  Both the ONT box (in our living room, not outside) and the white standup VZ router have been cycled before a couple times.  Have also tried changing between ethernet ports on the back for the Cat 6 cable with no change over long term behavior.
    • Same here, haven't had a single issue with RCS
    • Mapped two n41 small cell sin Jersey City today. They're the first two to be mapped there in Jersey City as far as I can tell and interestingly they're consecutive gNBs, possibly indicating they were installed around the same time. gNB 1088335 appears to be an upgrade of an older small cell. It looks identical to the T-Mobile n41 small cell I mapped earlier this year in Old Westbury.   I also mapped gNB 1088334 in Newport. This small cell appears to be a new build as I couldn't find any evidence of an older small cell in that area. Unfortunately no pic of it since I didn't even notice that I mapped it until I got home and I can't find it in Streetview.
