Is it still a legacy site? Or do you just not get HD voice. HD voice is not necessarily something decided on the site level, but rather by the switch.

I'm honestly not 100% sure. I believe looking at the maps that its a site that hasn't been updated. But would have thought something as simple as HD voice would be the easier option. There is a lone clear site that services that area so when it went down complete service disruption as it was unable to fall back yo band 25 due to the stronger dBm from the clear band 41 that was able to be picked up over air. But was unusable for a period of timetime till recently. I'm not sure that it is something worth bringing up to tech support.

Is there a reason why a tower hasn't been upgraded to at least support HD voice? Its been about 3 years and its the only tower I connect to that doesn't get a higher quality call from.

Where is the tower located?

HD Voice requires at least NV 3G equipment, even if it is over legacy backhaul. If the site itself hasn't been upgraded, you won't get HD voice.

Sprint B41 coverage indoors has been a heck of a lot better, but my speeds have taken a big hit (from 15-30mbs to 2-12mbs) I dont believe that the site I connect to have a high speed provision on it. Probably 50mbs at most, definitely needs at least 200mbs+ backhaul to cover the addition of another 20Mhz carrier coming soon.

I don't know Ive been getting dropped calls like crazy. no data at all. slow data when I drive away from my house. they said jan 2015 it will do the 800mhz which I'm not sure is b number that is for one tower so it would help the speed a lot in the area which IM fine with... but when i called they said they aren't even working on the towers at the moment so they don't know why its doing that.

Dropped calls? I haven't dropped a call in a looong time.

Drop calls usually happen when there is a hard handoff to or from a legacy site.

I didn't even know drop calls were a thing for sprint anymore.

He's got those 3 legacy towers surrounding him. So if it's happening around his home, not too surprising. If it's happening elsewhere, well, then that's weird.

lololol  man oh man you don't even understand I feel like a bum out here! When I travel I get some areas where the LTE is on point but mostly its blah! and mostly its blah because where I am are in areas where those towers haven't been updated Ive been cursed with knowing people in these areas. But the areas that do have let aren't all that either. better obviously then these snail 3g speeds but not consistent. every says get the triband phone but my brother experiences the same so thats ruled out and Im not talking my area specifically.

Tri-band does help significantly with LTE. That is a fact. There is no disputing that. 800 LTE helps with coverage, and Spark helps with speed. The fact that nearly everyone else sees incredibly improved service lends credibility to that fact that tri-band is important.

If you want to have a good experience with Sprint, its Triband or go home.

Single band devices are not really an option, especially in a place like NYC where population per square block is probably equivalent to some small towns.

I see one that isn't done yet, but hopefully it will be done soon. Maybe they couldn't get landlord permission or something?

im gonna with to a galaxy s4 this week and see if my experiences change at all

I think you should take a peek at the updated map, might be some good news for you.

This also makes it an easier choice to get that triband device.

I've been raving about load balancing happening in my area. Before last week, my results would be B41 20-40mbs, B25 .5-2mbs and B26 between 8-20mbs

Previously, Id only see B26 either after ending a call or when my signal was worse than -110dBm

Now, it seems to know when a less loaded band is available, im on B41 85% of time, but the other 15% are switching between B25 and B26 regardless of signal strength.

Its AWESOME! Good Job Sprint!

Those consistently low pings are dope.

They've turned on another 8T8R tower but its coming from a site further away it almost reaches my house but no!I am holding the signal in Applebee's thoghwhih would drop previously when connected to clearwire band 41 in the area. Just waiting for my home tower than I'll be happy. They also changed the tilt of some of the towers which means more may be coming online as well. Noticing I'm picking up sites that I previously wasn't in certain locations in my residential area.

    • Kind of amazing that T-Mobile is still holding onto that speed title despite Verizon all but killing off lowband 5G on their network. While Verizon is mostly being evaluated on mmWave and C-band performance, T-Mobile and AT&T's average 5G speeds include their massive lowband 5G networks that are significantly slower.
    • 5G in the U.S. – Additional Mid-band Spectrum Driving Performance Gains T-Mobile holds on to it's lead in 5G Speed
    • Yup. Very true. We were originally on an Everything Data 1500 Plan, which got Unlimited Minutes thanks to Marcelo's "Loyalty Benefits" offer. We then switched to Unlimited Freedom (with the Free HD add-on that Sprint originally wanted $20/month per line for.... remember that?) because the pricing was better with "iPhone for Life", vs. the "Loyalty Credit" for staying on a Legacy Plan. After that, I ran the numbers and switched us over to Sprint MAX, especially for the international travel benefits. There's absolutely no reason for us to switch to Go5G Plus or Go5G Next if we're going to do BYOD by purchasing from Apple/Samsung/Google directly as we've been doing. These new plans aren't priced for current customers to switch to. They're priced for new customers, where they throw in a free line, etc. It's gone from "Uncarrier" to "Carrier". What a shame.
    • Strange business model that they keep around all these pricing plans. 1000s of plans per carrier is reportedly not uncommon.  Training customer support must be a nightmare. Even MVNOs have legacy plans. A downside of their contract mentality I guess. Best to change contracts during a recession. But then all carriers try to squeeze out legacy plan benefits as they grow old.
    • Everything "Uncarrier" is becoming "Carrier" again. Because of the Credit Limit that T-Mobile put on our account for no reason at all (and wouldn't change/update the last time I checked all the way up to the CEO), I don't plan on buying/upgrading our iPhones through T-Mobile. I'm going through Apple directly. Looks like I'll be going through Google and Samsung directly for our other lines for upgrades. Also, we're staying on Sprint Max given the ridiculous pricing for Go5G Plus. On Sprint Max, we currently pay for our Plan: $260 for 7 Voice Lines $25 for two Wearable Lines. (One is $10/Month. The other is $15/Month because the AutoPay discount only applies up to 8 lines.) Total: $285/Month vs. Go5G Plus (Per the Broadband Facts "nutrition label" on the T-Mobile Website): https://www.t-mobile.com/commerce/cell-phone-plans $360 - ($5 AutoPay Discount x 7 Voice Lines) = $325 The Watch Plans show as either $12/Month or $15/Month: https://www.t-mobile.com/cell-phone-plans/affordable-data-plans/smartwatches So this is about the same for the wearables as what we're paying now. Overall, it's quite more than we're paying now to switch plans. Ridiculous....
