Network Vision/LTE - New York City Market

I was with a friend in Brooklyn (near the Verrazano Bridge) on Tuesday and she is with Sprint on an iPhone 6 and she was connected to Band 41 and when I ran a speed test, her ping was 159ms with 5.59 down and 5.15 up.

About 2 months ago in the same location, her ping was about 19ms with 60 down and 40 up.

What happened?

How did she get 40 up? I thought that was not possible on band 41.

Been noticing something pretty cool today,  first time I've seen my device jump from B26 to B41 (typically Id get on B25 before jumping on B41) on multiple occasions. Also, holding onto B41 longer indoor.

Seems like some sort of software optimization.

Love how most of NYC is pretty much covered in all types of Sprint LTE. Makes my heart smile to not see 3G while I'm out around Queens and BK.

I'm seeing more and more use of B26 and B41 in my home and around my neighborhood. Looks like some sort of load balancing.

Isn't that the way Sprint intended for the system to work, 3 bands that all serve a specific purpose. A main purpose for all three is to balance the load and give people efficient data speeds?

That's the idea, but it has never been very dynamic in its behavior, this time im seeing a lot more movement between the bands in the same area.

I think Sprint has been testing load balancing very recently.

I've noticed this as well. Alot more band switching. And to update the redicoulous speeds I was told I checked myself and it was a bug in the speed test app. Would have been nice though!

mine has been shot the last few days

Sprint B41 coverage indoors has been a heck of a lot better, but my speeds have taken a big hit (from 15-30mbs to 2-12mbs) I dont believe that the site I connect to have a high speed provision on it. Probably 50mbs at most, definitely needs at least 200mbs+ backhaul to cover the addition of another 20Mhz carrier coming soon.

Is there a reason why a tower hasn't been upgraded to at least support HD voice? Its been about 3 years and its the only tower I connect to that doesn't get a higher quality call from.

Is it still a legacy site? Or do you just not get HD voice. HD voice is not necessarily something decided on the site level, but rather by the switch.
