What's this O-HI-O?

The two years I spent living in Cincinnati were like a torture test that was out of control. But Columbus? Very nice and politically more my speed. Slow compared to Atlanta but I could definitely live there.

As well as several others that are in the Fortune 700s that most cities would kill for like TD Ameritrade, Valmont (center pivot irrigation), West (telecommunications), Tenaska and Green Plains (both agri-energy companies). Two of the top 25 largest architectural firms in the country (Leo A. Daily and HDR), Gallup (polling), Omaha Steaks etc.

It does lead to some interesting scenes...

Wow, would you look at that?!  Jimmy Buffett and Paul McCartney together.  That must have been one great concert.

Cincinnati is the worst. I'm from Columbus and it's way better BUT I love Atlanta over Columbus.

It scares me to see two billionaires sitting on, what looks like to me, a bench waiting for city transportation.  I am not saying it is bad but if billionaires are catching the bus, the rest of us schmucks need to rethink what it is all about.

Or the US and British economies are much worse than we are being told!!!

Why do you think they are billionaires? cause they take the bus!

Mid-major Midwest markets are a non-destination. No young, future graduate of an AAU university is dreaming of ending up in Omaha, NE. They're thinking of NY, LA, SF, Mia, Chicago, Boston, and other metropolitan areas. I would support your case for St. Louis and Kansas City, but Omaha?!

There's only 2 things to do in Nebraska: 1. Watch Nebraska football and 2. Watch corn grow. And with the recent terrible coaching change, its going to be watching corn grow all year round for that state.

Eh, we gladly gave you Enron* and Ken Lay. #scoreboard.

*and then Buffett bought back the only legitimate part of the company that was still earning money on the cheap after the collapse.

Warren Buffet still lives in the same modest house he bought with his wife for $31,500 in 1957.  Buffet lives below his means like the average millionaire does.

"Us schmucks" need to follow their example!

Enron.  Yes, I remember my broker at Grayson Moorhead Securities said I should invest in it.

Crocodile Dundee Smoked Dingo Sausage

Excelsior She-Male Escort Services

The President Lyndon B. Johnson Commemorative Wristwatch Company

Goliath Extra-Large Cellular Phones

Rosie Magazine

Gloria Vanderbilt Jeans for Men

Enron

He said, "These are important companies doing important things."

And, I'm sure that they were doing important things.... for his bank account.

"Most of these companies are now bankrupt. Others have been exposed as fronts for a variety of criminal enterprises. Every single one of them has lost staggering amounts of money for our investors. But at Grayson Moorhead, we have always felt -- and we like to think our clients would agree -- that when you lose your life savings because you believed in something greater than yourself, you haven't really lost it all. For when it comes to investing, there are more important things than making money. If you don't understand that, maybe we're not the company for you."

Grayson Moorhead. Losing our clients' money with dignity and pride since 1926.

This sketch, by the way, dates from 2005.  The irony now is that Goliath Extra-Large Cellular Phones probably would be doing well.

That is awesome to see!

Yes it is... Got some good information and possible contact if he calls me back or email me. He conferences and called me in with a sprint engineer about my issues and discussed the current e911 testing in my Granville, OH area.

This makes me happy because the system works. Customer issue gets resolved.

Awesome.

Now if he could convert my 3 gmos, turn on 1x800 and activate 800 lte I would be a a happy customer again.... I'll keep sending the Sprint zone reports and tweets until completed.. Lol

I was pretty excited when I went up to the truck and he asked my name from my tickets.

I had the same experience, I didn't really get to meet the guy in the truck though, but I did talk to the Ericsson guy for a good hour....pretty cool stuff. He was quite impressed (and relieved) that I knew alot about the network and we leveled with each other quickly. He was glad I wasn't "80 years old and not tech savvy" like most of the folks he talked to. lol

You really think Omaha is a destination city for young professionals? Outside of Ag majors, there are not many graduates rushing to Omaha.

(unless they're Nebraska Cornhuskers, but that's because they love watching corn grow and reminiscing about the Tom Osborne era with other fellow Cornhuskers. All they talk about is the mid-1990s and how Mike Riley is going to save them from the eternal irrelevance they live in.)

And I hope all young boring, generic, big city-obsessed hipsters do take your advise.

This way, the rest of the country will be open to people who have taste and prefer the simpler things in their everyday life like actual suburbia that hasn't just been built last-second with zero planning, non-congested roads and highways, access to desirable chains and stores instead of ones the local politicians deem appropriate, and away from the absolutely maniacal politics in bigger states like NY, California, Massachusetts and Illinois. Or cities that cost a mere fraction of living in simply the suburbia and even commuter towns of grossly overpriced states like NY.

Oh, and don't get me started about the nation's award-winning worst roads and longest commute times.

I can't wait to escape the Northeast. If anyone has any more good areas down South and Midwest to share for me to look into, feel free to let me know ;)

    • A heavy n41 overlay as an acquisition condition would be a win for customers, and eventually a win for T-Mobile as that might be enough to preclude VZW/AT&T adding C-Band for FWA due to spreading the market too thinly (which means T-Mobile would just have local WISPs/wireline ISPs as competition). USCC spacing (which is likely for contiguous 700 MHz LTE coverage in rural areas) isn't going to be enough for contiguous n41 anyway, and I doubt they'll densify enough to get there.
    • Boost Infinite with a rainbow SIM (you can get it SIM-only) is the cheapest way, at $25/mo, to my knowledge; the cheaper Boost Mobile plans don't run on Dish native. Check Phonescoop for n70 support on a given phone; the Moto G 5G from last year may be the cheapest unlocked phone with n70 though data speeds aren't as good as something with an X70 or better modem.
    • Continuing the USCC discussion, if T-Mobile does a full equipment swap at all of USCC's sites, which they probably will for vendor consistency, and if they include 2.5 on all of those sites, which they probably will as they definitely have economies of scale on the base stations, that'll represent a massive capacity increase in those areas over what USCC had, and maybe a coverage increase since n71 will get deployed everywhere and B71 will get deployed any time T-Mobile has at least 25x25, and maybe where they have 20x20. Assuming this deal goes through (I'm betting it does), I figure I'll see contiguous coverage in the area of southern IL where I was attempting to roam on USCC the last time I was there, though it might be late next year before that switchover happens.
    • Forgot to post this, but a few weeks ago I got to visit these small cells myself! They're spread around Grant park and the surrounding areas, but unfortunately none of the mmwave cells made it outside of the parks along the lake into the rest of downtown. I did spot some n41 small cells around downtown, but they seemed to be older deployments limited to 100mhz and performed poorly.
    • What is the cheapest way to try Dish's wireless network?  Over the past year I've seen them add their equipment to just about every cell site here, I'm assuming just go through Boost's website?  What phones are Dish native?
