okay my phone completely died over night went to bed around 12 got up about 6 had about 60 percent at midnight .  So does anyone charger the oem one make a humming noise not plugged in to the phone.  I think my charger is shot.

Mine started making a buzzing noise as well.  I've read a few reports on LG chargers making the noise.

It still charges, but I'm not using it to charge my Nexus 5 anymore.

Follow the guide on XDA, flash either .15 or .17. Best bet for b41, b26 will work on .23, .17, and .15

Thanks a little google and I and I think I found the one you were talking about. Got my MSL via online Sprint Chat, just told her I needed it if something goes wrong I can fix stuff. Here is the link if anyone is Google phobic.

So I finally rooted, and flashed twrp. I then flashed franco kernel because of all the good reviews I've read. Do any of you have any franco setting suggestions for optimal battery life? I never play games or do anything resource intensive, so any underclock/undervolt suggestions? What about an awesome color profile? Any good companion apps to further extend battery life? Thanks, guys.

Vibration amp to zero, it saves battery life...I don't know why but it does. Vomers(I think thats what its called, I'd check but I don't have Franco's installed atm) is a great profile, my personal favorite. Other than that I never changed any settings, other than keeping your brightness at like 30ish%. I got around 4 hours of screen time(moderate use) and 22 hours of total use.

FWIW, I've gotten better battery life from elementalx than Franco.

What was your screen time with elementalx, how many total hours of use, and can you describe your usage?

I have a bunch of different usage patterns throughout the week.  Sometimes I can keep my phone on the charger all day at work, and sometimes I can't.  I'll post the stats of one of those days when I'm away from the charger.  I should also mention that I have been on PA for these numbers but saw similar differences on stock.

ElementalX                            Franco

SOT: 4.75 Hrs                       3.75 Hrs

Total: 10-11 Hrs                    9-10 Hrs

I keep sync on and respond to about 20-30 emails a day, maybe about 15 minutes of phone calls, frequent hangouts, and I am constantly connected to WiFi, though I probably go through about 50 or so handoffs a day.  Most of my SOT is playing number games and surfing reddit.  I also spend around 3-4 hours streaming podcasts/music.

Edit: As for setup, I underclocked to 1.9 Ghz on both, and set the UV to 700mV on elemental, and disabled max screen off frequency.  with franco, I basically dropped all the voltages as much as I could, though I couldn't keep it as stable with everything as low as it was on elementalx, so I stepped everything down until the lowest frequency was about 750mV.

Which radio is best for a chance at connecting to band 41? I flashed .17 and immediately have a significant dBm gain. Is that normal? Do we know if .15 or .17 is better?

.15 for band 41, its still unreliable though. Personally .15 and .17 performed about the same, .15 was maybe 1-3dbm better but it allows you to connect to sites with csfb/ecsfb issues.

Having issues here with Spark bands enabled. Anywhere I suspect TDE I drop to 3G until I leave the area and reboot. Toggling airplane mode doesn't bring LTE back.

Question for those of you running the .15 radio and SignalCheck -- when you connect to a site that has CSFB issues, does SignalCheck show "Telephone calls unavailable" under the 1X section as it does when in LTE-only mode? Just curious. I just flashed .15 for the first time and I was wondering if I would be able to tell when I'm not going to be able to receive calls.

Yeah toggling airplane mode for me usually results in a total lack of service for at least 2 to as many as 5 minutes. I feel like smashing this phone into the pavement.

I can't be 100% sure, but that pretty much definitely has happened on sites w/o CSFB for me.

Luckily at work the TDE signal dies in the metal building but good old band 25 works until I go outside. I guess I turn band 41 back off when I get home tonight.

both .15 and .17 tested roughly the same dB for me.

You won't notice a big difference between the two in terms of reception.

The difference is eCSFB issues impact .15 but allow you to connect to band 41 while .17 doesn't have the eCSFB issues.  People seem to have better luck connecting to band 41 on .15.

Is there a way to know if my local towers have eCSFB enabled?

I'm definitely confused on this. The Sprint reps at my local store don't even know what eCSFB is ...so....how can they help me and how do I resolve this issue? Any ideas?

They can't help you. All you can do is wait.

So what you are suggesting is that I don't have a defective nexus 5 and that the spark update will fix the issues that are destroying my life...er...am experiencing?

Triband and ecsfb issues just don't work, period. It's not a defective phone, it's the network. You can solve it by waiting, getting a single band device, or just learning to live with 3g.

Ecsfb/csfb is related to tower/network issues, so the spark update won't fix it.

    • A heavy n41 overlay as an acquisition condition would be a win for customers, and eventually a win for T-Mobile as that might be enough to preclude VZW/AT&T adding C-Band for FWA due to spreading the market too thinly (which means T-Mobile would just have local WISPs/wireline ISPs as competition). USCC spacing (which is likely for contiguous 700 MHz LTE coverage in rural areas) isn't going to be enough for contiguous n41 anyway, and I doubt they'll densify enough to get there.
    • Boost Infinite with a rainbow SIM (you can get it SIM-only) is the cheapest way, at $25/mo, to my knowledge; the cheaper Boost Mobile plans don't run on Dish native. Check Phonescoop for n70 support on a given phone; the Moto G 5G from last year may be the cheapest unlocked phone with n70 though data speeds aren't as good as something with an X70 or better modem.
    • Continuing the USCC discussion, if T-Mobile does a full equipment swap at all of USCC's sites, which they probably will for vendor consistency, and if they include 2.5 on all of those sites, which they probably will as they definitely have economies of scale on the base stations, that'll represent a massive capacity increase in those areas over what USCC had, and maybe a coverage increase since n71 will get deployed everywhere and B71 will get deployed any time T-Mobile has at least 25x25, and maybe where they have 20x20. Assuming this deal goes through (I'm betting it does), I figure I'll see contiguous coverage in the area of southern IL where I was attempting to roam on USCC the last time I was there, though it might be late next year before that switchover happens.
    • Forgot to post this, but a few weeks ago I got to visit these small cells myself! They're spread around Grant park and the surrounding areas, but unfortunately none of the mmwave cells made it outside of the parks along the lake into the rest of downtown. I did spot some n41 small cells around downtown, but they seemed to be older deployments limited to 100mhz and performed poorly.
    • What is the cheapest way to try Dish's wireless network?  Over the past year I've seen them add their equipment to just about every cell site here, I'm assuming just go through Boost's website?  What phones are Dish native?
