LG G2 Users Thread!

I'm not extremely worried about getting a CPO, but it does irk me just a little. As long as this one performs as it should and gives no probs, I'm not going to dwell much on the 79 phone calls made prior, or the prior 80 meg of data used before I got it. I didn't look it over with my jeweler loop but it seemed to look pretty decent.

Well apparently to corroborate the story as mentioned before, the guy says hes a Sprint employee... Not trying to fan the flames i just want to now if any employee can help us non Sprint employees understand if this is true

Y'all have more serious issues to deal with now... Apparently the G2 now suffers from post echoing. I seriously hope that LG addresses it on 1/24 with the Spark update. I just read about it on XDA. Any Sprint employee care to confirm?

Post echoing?  What does that mean?  do you have the XDA link?

Just able to get time to read through about 11 pages and I saw a post that no one replied to concerning the alarm glitching at the top when it is set. I have noticed this also and was curious if there was a fix for it. Thanks!

Ok so they announced the g flex release date today so I figure theyve got the spark update cleared up so we should prolly see that soon because the g flex is coming spark enabled. Does anyone else seem to think this also?

So you bought a new LG G2 on contract and you got a refurb version in the mail?  Wow that sucks.  I would exchange and complain to them that it is a refurb.

Won't get you anywhere. LG would send a refurnished unit out just like Sprint does. Sprint just works as the middle man so you don't have to send it in and wait for a replacement weeks later. Only if refurbished units aren't available will it be replaced with a new-in-box unit.

It's the same for every manufacturer and carrier. It is the same for anything related to electronics, not just phones.

Eventually with enough yelling you might get a new one, but in the process you will make every employee you talk to rethink their views of humanity, and the feeling of entitlement in the United States. But who cares about making employee's jobs hell? You got yourself a new-in-bos phone instead of a refurb, that is just as likely to have the same issues as your "brand new" first phone.

I was assuming if you are within your first 14 days of signing a new contract you should try to exchange and ask for a new one.  I agree that if you are outside of that 14 day window and are just reporting a warranty issue then a refurbished device is fine and by no means does a "new" vs. "refurbished" equate to less issues with a "new" device.

Any exchange within 14 days will be with a brand new device, no exception. This is policy. After that 14 days however, it will likely be with a refurbished unit, unless one isn't available. There is no advantage in the store ordering a refurbished handset instead of exchanging with a new model in store if they could as part of the 14 day return/exchange policy.

Anyone bailing on the G2 for the Flex? I wonder which device is going to get more support from LG. I like that the G Flex has a usb 3.0, 3500 mah battery, multiwindow, self healing back but I don't like the 720P display or the lack of OIS. I like the G2 size better but I wish it had usb 3.0 and multiwindow. I can live without the rest. If the LG Flex comes out to be the better RF performer even after the G2 gets its Spark update I might sell it and get the Flex.

Nope no plans to bail on the G2.  While the G Flex does have a nice 3500 maH beefy battery and the self healing back, I have been pretty happy with the G2 so far.  What i don't like is the 720P display, the possible grip of the phone (wide and long)  and now that you mention the lack of OIS sucks.

To address your concerns you can enable multiwindow on the G2 by flashing a mulitiwindow mod via TWRP from XDA here.  The mod was extracted from a LG G Flex korean version system dump back around Thanksigiving:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2544206

In fact I posted a picture in this thread that shows off my phone with the multiwindow function enabled by flashing that mod from XDA:

Also the USB 2.0 vs. 3.0 thing is not that big of a deal to me.  Like 98% of the time I charge via AC adapter and it shouldn't really make a difference in charging times over AC power.  The only benefit of USB 3.0 is the charging via USB is quicker and faster transfer rates.  The LG G2 charges pretty quickly from 1% to 100% in about 1.5 hrs.

This phone is too shiny for my liking. I can see my reflection and it scares me.

No doubt.  I see my mirror image, and it is striking.  Plus, my posts and articles reflect a remarkable intellect.

Scary, indeed...

I was having the same problem with the Swype keyboard disappearing. I disabled the dictionary sync (don't remember the exact setting but it is where you sign in and it syncs your dictionary words from other devices) and I have not had the problem since.

I'm sure you know how the G2 fairs with RF.

Lg Flex

 PCS CDMA/EVDO - 24.11dBm

 LTE Band 25 - 23.38 dBm

 LTE Band 26 - 23.91 dBm

 LTE Band 41 - 23.19 dBm

LG G2

 PCS CDMA/EVDO - 24.80 dBm

 LTE Band 25 - 23.49 dBm

 LTE Band 26 - 24.48 dBm

 LTE Band 41 - 21.34 dBm

Nope because I have confidence that Sprint can fix the RF issues on the G2.  They use the same chip anyways.  Even if the G Flex has a better signal by 2-5 dBm, it is not enough to sway me.

    • Since this is kind of the general chat thread, I have to share this humorous story (at least it is to me): Since around February/March of this year, my S22U has been an absolute pain to charge. USB-C cables would immediately fall out and it progressively got worse and worse until it often took me a number of minutes to get the angle of the cable juuuussst right to get charging to occur at all (not exaggerating). The connection was so weak that even walking heavily could cause the cable to disconnect. I tried cleaning out the port with a stable, a paperclip, etc. Some dust/lint/dirt came out but the connection didn't improve one bit. Needless to say, this was a MONSTER headache and had me hating this phone. I just didn't have the finances right now for a replacement.  Which brings us to the night before last. I am angry as hell because I had spent five minutes trying to get this phone to charge and failed. I am looking in the port and I notice it doesn't look right. The walls look rough and, using a staple, the back and walls feel REALLY rough and very hard. I get some lint/dust out with the staple and it improves charging in the sense I can get it to charge but it doesn't remove any of the hard stuff. It's late and it's charging, so that's enough for now. I decide it's time to see if that hard stuff is part of the connector or not. More aggressive methods are needed! I work in a biochem lab and we have a lot of different sizes of disposable needles available. So, yesterday morning, while in the lab I grab a few different sizes of needles between 26AWG and 31 AWG. When I got home, I got to work and start probing the connector with the 26 AWG and 31 AWG needle. The stuff feels extremely hard, almost like it was part of the connector, but a bit does break off. Under examination of the bit, it's almost sandy with dust/lint embedded in it. It's not part of the connector but instead some sort of rock-hard crap! That's when I remember that I had done some rock hounding at the end of last year and in January. This involved lots of digging in very sandy/dusty soils; soils which bare more than a passing resemblance to the crap in the connector. We have our answer, this debris is basically compacted/cemented rock dust. Over time, moisture in the area combined with the compression from inserting the USB-C connector had turned it into cement. I start going nuts chiseling away at it with the 26 AWG needle. After about 5-10 minutes of constant chiseling and scraping with the 26AWG and 31AWG needles, I see the first signs of metal at the back of the connector. So it is metal around the outsides! Another 5 minutes of work and I have scraped away pretty much all of the crap in the connector. A few finishing passes with the 31AWG needle, a blast of compressed air, and it is time to see if this helped any. I plug my regular USB-C cable and holy crap it clicks into place; it hasn't done that since February! I pick up the phone and the cable has actually latched! The connector works pretty much like it did over a year ago, it's almost like having a brand new phone!
    • That's odd, they are usually almost lock step with TMO. I forgot to mention this also includes the September Security Update.
    • 417.55 MB September security update just downloaded here for S24+ unlocked   Edit:  after Sept security update install, checked and found a 13MB GP System update as well.  Still showing August 1st there however.
    • T-Mobile is selling the rest of the 3.45GHz spectrum to Columbia Capital.
    • Still nothing for my AT&T and Visible phones.
