COUNTDOWN!!! Nextel iDEN Shutdown

Recommended Posts

i guess i tried to raise the bid up by to much. :D anyways, winner winner chicken dinner. also, my electronic graveyard is just large as it is. someone else can have the phones or you can hold on to them if you want and save the shipping fees and all that.

You outbid me and don't even want the phones?

You can have the phones for the amount of your last bid since the winner didn't want them. :)

I can't believe only 2 days until the shutdown. It wasn't that long ago when I saw that clock at 20, 30 or even 40 days. My how time flies.

I'm pretty excited. I kind of have the same feeling as a kid at Christmas.

Along with the buyout and FCC approval and no divesture of CLWR spectrum. Things are looking UP.

I remember reading somewhere Robert's reply about how fast he guesses CDMA 800 sites will start coming online after the shutdown of the IDEN network. It took awhile to find,if your interested

Are we expecting a big light up or a gradual increase in pace once the countdown hits zero?

I have no inside info on this.  I'm guessing it will not be an immediate overnight light up of 1000's of sites.  But I would guess a pretty rapid succession of CDMA 800 acceptances for the 90-120 day period after June 30th.  And I would expect new sites would start being deployed with 3G and 800 together from the get go.  Maybe even CDMA 800 and LTE 1900 together, as the 800 is more like the LTE in the fact it does not need to be brought online in clusters.  Eventually getting to LTE 800/1900 and CDMA 800 being deployed all together at new sites.

Ok...granted this might not be the right place to ask this...but...

With my new HTC One, will I be able to use the CDMA 800 signal at all?

Or is 1900 the only signal my phone can use?

just checked out the auction for the first time. was surprised at how high the bid is at. hope all those that are bidding are true Sprint and S4GRU enthusiasts and not just some trolls out to raise the bid.

Don't think char char is involved..

I need some 800SMR beaming out cause my whole family is on Sprint and they all whine cause this isn't fast and my signal sucks. I have been telling them that they are rectifying the situation and its gonna be a great network. But non geeks who just want something to work and dont understand the mechanics behind something are hard to get the point across.

SMR 800 MHz is not going to make data speeds faster.  But it will make CDMA1X voice, data, and SMS coverage more consistent around the metro and within buildings.

Yea I knows it wont kick speeds up but the range and reliability will hopefully calm them down and get them sold on thi snew network I keep telling them about.
