Samsung Galaxy Note 2

Lot's of cracking reported on the white Note I. I will go for grey.

That settles it, I was thinking grey anyways, with the grey flip cover.

It's weird, I was all antsy about not having a release date, not we have one and I'm all antsy for next Thursday.

There seem to be anecdotal reports from people posting in many forums that there will be a preorder this week. I asked Sprint sales and they said there is not a pre order at this time. It took me asking the same question (Will there be a preorder before the 10/25 release) three different ways and I got "I can't commit to an answer."

I'm almost leaning to a preorder on Friday now. Just have to wait and see, otherwise, I took Thursday morning off from work to pick one up at my local Corp store.

I'm curious as to the cracking comments. Cracking where? On the covers, or the phone itself? I have a white one myself and the only thing that is out of place is the folio cover starts peeling at the bottom edge. But I have interchanged with numerous different colored folios and they all do that. The Black one, the White one, The Blue one, etc.

folio-peel is rampant.. i found that once the "outer" bezel of the folio has peeled (the crust?) completely, it will no longer do it. My chief complaint is the bubble that exists along the folding edge after a lot of usage. You can smooth it down with your finger easy enough, but still annoying. I would love to see some sort of kevlar or carbon fiber folio case

Just google Note cracking. Similar to the EVO 4G cracks. Seems like the white ones cracked more often than the blue

You knew about the note 2 in June? <awestruck>

Yes. I also knew that the EVO had LTE Connectivity problems before it even went on Pre-Order. I know lots of things. :secret:

Reading over at Sprint community forums, a lack of information about this device is causing confusion. There seems to be speculation that 10/25 the device may only be available for order or pre order. When you ask a sales rep at the Corp stores, they don't even know what the device is. You ask online sales support from the sprint.com store and they give vague answers or say they don't have info.

I sent an email to the two email addresses on the Press Release asking for the definition of being available on 10/25. I'm still working under the assumption that I'm walking into my Sprint store on 10/25 and walking out with a Galaxy Note 2

I'm hoping that one can go to the store to pick one up on the 25th, but my gut feeling is telling me that its the day for pre-orders. Just wish a leak would come out showing a Sprint screen indicating if they are in on the 25th. There is also that huge UPS warehouse that Sprint ships all their devices from, not a peep or leak. It takes about 2-3 days for devices to get to the stores if i am not mistaken.

If it is just pre-orders, then I'll be pissed. Almost every other device has a pre-order date and an available date. Seeing as this is only an available date, it has to be for purchase.

See this. Hoping its not true, but it will fall in line to the date I've said all along. Nov 11th.

All of the corporate folks I spoke with assure me it will be here at the end of the month. They insist in-store sales (and not just pre-order) will happen then, but I take that with a grain of salt for the moment. In order to tide me over for NOTE-i-ness, I just picked up a Note 10.1 and am fiddling with it at the moment.. Chief complaint, No JB yet

I have been able to confirm with a source a 25th release date for the Note 2, and a 11/11 release date for the Optimus G. I don't know anything about preorder dates, yet. If there will even be any preorders for these devices.

Also, I have confirmed pricing with the source. $299 on contract, $649 retail.

    • This has been approved.. https://www.cnet.com/tech/mobile/fcc-approves-t-mobiles-deal-to-purchase-mint-mobile/
    • In the conference call they had two question on additional spectrum. One was the 800 spectrum. They are not certain what will happen, thus have not really put it into their plans either way (sale or no sale). They do have a reserve level. Nationwide 800Mhz is seen as great for new technologies which I presume is IOT or 5g slices.  T-Mobile did not bite on use of their c-band or DOD.  mmWave rapidly approaching deadlines not mentioned at all. FWA brushes on this as it deals with underutilized spectrum on a sector by sector basis.  They are willing to take more money to allow FWA to be mobile (think RV or camping). Unsure if this represents a higher priority, for example, FWA Mobile in RVs in Walmart parking lots working where mobile phones need all the capacity. In terms of FWA capacity, their offload strategy is fiber through joint ventures where T-Mobile does the marketing, sales, and customer support while the fiber company does the network planning and installation.  50%-50% financial split not being consolidated into their books. I think discussion of other spectrum would have diluted the fiber joint venture discussion. They do have a fund which one use is to purchase new spectrum. Sale of the 800Mhz would go into this. It should be noted that they continue to buy 2.5Ghz spectrum from schools etc to replace leases. They will have a conference this fall  to update their overall strategies. Other notes from the call are 75% of the phones on the network are 5g. About 85% of their sites have n41, n25, and n71, 90% 5g.  93% of traffic is on midband.  SA is also adding to their performance advantage, which they figure is still ahead of other carriers by two years. It took two weeks to put the auction 108 spectrum to use at their existing sites. Mention was also made that their site spacing was designed for midrange thus no gaps in n41 coverage, while competitors was designed for lowband thus toggles back and forth for n77 also with its shorter range.
    • The manual network selection sounds like it isn't always scanning NR, hence Dish not showing up. Your easiest way to force Dish is going to be forcing the phone into NR-only mode (*#*#4636#*#* menu?), since rainbow sims don't support SA on T-Mobile.
    • "The company’s unique multi-layer approach to 5G, with dedicated standalone 5G deployed nationwide across 600MHz, 1.9GHz, and 2.5GHz delivers customers a consistently strong experience, with 85% of 5G traffic on sites with all three spectrum bands deployed." Meanwhile they are very close to a construction deadline June 1 for 850Mhz of mmWave in most of Ohio covering 27500-28350Mhz expiring 6/8/2028. No reported sightings.  Buildout notice issue sent by FCC in March 5, 2024 https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/letterPdf/LetterPdfController?licId=4019733&letterVersionId=178&autoLetterId=13060705&letterCode=CR&radioServiceCode=UU&op=LetterPdf&licSide=Y&archive=null&letterTo=L  No soecific permits seen in a quick check of Columbus. They also have an additional 200Mhz covering at 24350-25450 Mhz and 24950-25050Mhz with no buildout date expiring 12/11/2029.

They're completely avoiding talking about mmWave.
