Heh, I wonder if this update includes Knox 2.0 and an updated bootloader?  I fell for 4.3 and got my bootloader updated so I can't go back.  I think I'll stick with Omni until I hear confirmation on these things.  :nono:

So what do you think of the Gal W? Are you going to trade in your GNII for one of these "small" phones? (Assuming they ever come to the US)

I'm going to wipe and go back to 4.3 stock and then take the upgrade.  I'll let you know

Any thoughts on the upgrade from users?  Seems to be mostly cosmetic changes, and multi window enhancements.

I manually loaded the update (after I flashed back to 4.3 stock because I was rooted).

I'm liking the update, on full stock getting better battery and no "oddities"

Wishful thinking, but I wonder if anything was done to address the 1x800 issue. What PRL does your phone show? Still 2015?

It has been mentioned before that PRL is device type specific. They can't tell what ROM you are using. So if somehow 1x800 is approved for everyone with the new ROM/radio firmware, they wouldn't do a PRL change until everyone would have received the new ROM.

513 here. Runs great in this market for me!

Unfortunately, my device has never worked on 1x800, so I don't get to play with 512 or 513. Oh well. Thanks anyway!

Mine works, though if the 1x800 signal isn't high, it seems low 1900 reception is better than a 1x800 signal that might be slightly stronger.  I'm not sure if that is my phone or if that is the case on other phones.  So maybe you aren't missing anything!

Seems to work well if the signal is strong though.

Can I still get the update even tho the phone is not active on my acct but using Wi-Fi?

I don't see why not.  I recently got my Nexus 5 update and it wasn't activated either.  Other option is Kies if you want to install that on your computer.

Or side load the update via stock recovery

Need the Sprint Base so I can rip it apart. ;)

I'd help if I knew how to get you what you need lol. My phone has promoted me but I don't want to break it with the update.

I'm keeping my eyes out. I'd rather not use the VZW port or the base only.

So you want the sprint factory image? Or something to that extent?

    • I think the push for them is adding US Mobile as a MVNO with a priority data plan.  Ultimately, making people more aware of priority would allow them (and other carriers) to differentiate themselves from MVNOs like Consumer Cellular that advertise the same coverage. n77 has dramatically reduced the need for priority service at Verizon where the mere functioning of your phone was in jeopardy a couple of years ago if you had a low priority plan like Red Pocket. Only have heard of problems with T-Mobile in parts of Los Angeles. AT&T fell in between. All had issues at large concerts and festivals, or sporting events if your carrier has no on-site rights. Edit: Dishes native 5g network has different issues: not enough sites, limited bandwidth. Higher priority would help a few. Truth is they can push phones to AT&T or T-Mobile.
    • Tracfone AT&T sims went from QCI 8 to 9 as well a couple years ago. I'm pretty neutral towards AT&T's turbo feature here, the only bad taste left was for those who had unadvertised QCI 7 a couple months ago moved down to 8. In my eyes it would have been a lot better for AT&T to include turbo in those Premium/Elite plans for free to keep them at QCI 7, while also introducing this turbo add on option for any other plans or devices. As it stands now only a handful of plans can add it, and only if you're using a device on a random list of devices AT&T considers to be 5G smartphones.
    • My Red Pocket AT&T GSMA account was dropped to QCI 9 about a year ago.  Most recently 8 for the last few years prior.  Voice remains at 5.
    • https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2024/05/att-announces-7-monthly-add-on-fee-for-turbo-5g-speeds/ Hopefully we don't ever see T-Mobile do something like this. Based on how I was treated with my Credit Limit, it's definitely not the same company it was before the merger, and it's entirely possible they'd try it.
