I scanned the article but i didn't take it serious once i saw the comments. Why is it that someone has to mention sprint in a tmobile related article? Its like they're trying to deflect the topic at hand. Ugh. But I will go back and fully read his write up.

Here's pics from my effort to get the Note5 Verizon edition working on T-Mobile. Seems like it's a 6 to 8 dBM better performer than my old phone, the iPhone 5S. I went to the kitchen of my home, where signal would usually drop to EDGE on the old device, this device held the LTE signal. No VoLTE though, so calls fall back to GSM.

That is obfuscating the point. Even with "no money down" being a universal term, most advertising states what the monthly payment is. That is the issue with the ads in question.

Wow is right. I do agree on most points but a couple are interesting. One part that made me laugh though is: 

 

Even when you take into account which bands are in your region and which phones support those bands, you're still not going to get an accurate representation, and seriously only a particular subset of nerd understands this stuff anyway.

I'll just say that even with Uncarrier killing the even more corrupt contract system that this industry in general still has a lot of work to do.

Hmmm well that was something else. I agree with what was said for the most part. But I do say that if T-Mobile is going to be different and say they are then they need to show it. But part to is people need to read. The down side is that the average consumer only wants what they see and nothing more.

A lot of the points, I agree with. In some cases though, it's fair to single T-Mobile out, and in others, it's not fair to single T-Mobile out.

 

For example, T-Mobile boasts No Contract as one of their main selling points. But what happens if you cancel phone service? The final bill becomes due, including the cost of your device. To market it as something without a contract, when in theory, it is one is already shady enough. The way I believe it should be is the device stays being financed through T-Mobile, even if you cancel service. That way T-Mobile still gets their money, and the term 'No service contract' still is valid.

 

As for coverage maps. I think T-Mobile's is hella exaggerated, but all of the carriers do this, to an extent. But to be fair, the author of the article also put that in there.

 

Same with the shady 3 months of unlimited LTE data. It uses people's data stash first. No where, except in the fine print does it mention that. Even the banners do not have an asterisk.

NYC is big because some building owners like Trump weren't letting T-Mobile go in and do small cell and DAS. Cincy because of the obvious spectrum constraints.

 

Still waiting on Chicago and St. Louis. Those are the biggest markets T-Mobile has left without low band.

Ryan, I am well aware of the T-Mobile narratives in those cities -- especially Cincinnati.  I was one of the first, maybe the first to report on T-Mobile's limited spectrum path to LTE in Cincinnati, and that goes back several years now.

 

But Sascha Segan, by most appearances, goes above and beyond objective reporting on T-Mobile.  More like prioritized reporting on T-Mobile.  Positive reporting on T-Mobile.  Would Sprint ever get the same treatment for any market?

 

Still waiting on Chicago and St. Louis. Those are the biggest markets T-Mobile has left without low band.

And Sascha will be waiting with another prioritized, positive article.

Not to get off-topic, but that is true of a lot of people in urban cores. They don't know the needs of people in rural America, look down on those people, then get shocked and revolted when those people support the idea of a President Trump. In reality, if they just realized the people in rural area just had the desire of having good jobs and good homes, and acted to elect leaders that took care of the whole of the country, then a President Trump would never be a concern. Most people where I live never had a chance. The educational system that urbanites set up ensured that.

People were noting this was happening with YouTube on Reddit. BingeOn was on, 1080p videos buffered. Turned off, they streamed perfectly.
