On T-Mobile's there is no VoLTE icon because it's turned on by default. T-Mobile must be making this change on all compatible devices regardless of network. On my S20 Ultra, there isn't even an option to turn VoLTE on or off on T-Mobile. The only way I can use 3G or 2G for calls is by turning off LTE altogether.

Yeah I'm sure the option will go away completely once we get an official software update to turn our phones into T-Mobile branded ones.

Right but I'm Sprint branded. This happened with the last day or so.

I understand however, now T-Mobile is in control of everything and they're likely pushing automatic updates in the background to unify user experience regardless of what brand the user is currently using.

Same here but that doesn't matter at this point.

Right. Didn't realize they were going to be moving that fast. Since my market wasn't officially 5G they turned it off for my phone and icon removed which the icon wasn't bad. I hated the icon anyway (Kind of like that Spark icon we use to have).

Best MVNOs That Use T-Mobile's Network in 2020

https://www.androidcentral.com/best-mvnos-use-t-mobiles-network

The cheapest is Red Pocket annual plan sold on E-bay for $60.  Actually covers any carrier.  I believe now you might have to pay $4 for their sims.

When will we get more 5G phones to buy from Sprint instead of just Galaxy S20? :(

Expecting a 5G iPhone in the Fall. T-Mobile's 5G network using Sprint's 2.5 GHz should be much more built out by then so it will be a better experience overall as well.

Why no OnePlus 8 on Sprint? :(

It does not support all three 5g bands IMO.

Also gives them a phone to offer any old LG 5g phones that no longer can do 5g.

However the same logic used to offer the LG V60 to replace a nonfunctioning LG 5G phone could be used to offer the OnePlus 8 5g phones since the OnePlus 7Pro 5G was previously sold by Sprint.

My LG V50 line is now eligible for an early upgrade, however there aren't any offers yet. I'm in the Michigan market. I have 6 months left to go of my lease. I assume once I get some type of notification the offers will be applied.

Anyone else see the same? I wonder if they are targeting V50 users to offer V60 upgrades? I'd prefer the S20 series more just because of the 1440p display and better security patch updates. I do like the dual screen option of the V60 however.

FCC’s 5G Upgrade order passes 3-2

The ruling adopted today clarifies the commission’s 2014 rules with regard to when the 60-day shot clock for local review begins. The ruling also clarifies how certain aspects of proposed modifications – height increases, equipment cabinet additions and impact on concealment elements and aesthetic conditions – affect eligibility for streamlined review.

The V60 is coming in the next week or so.

I personally don't want the V60 anymore. The screen resolution isn't as good as the V50.

For me it's the loss of the true third rear camera, and frankly I'm tired of LG's poor handling of monthly updates and upgrades. As much as I've liked my V40 and V50, it's not enough anymore.

Yea the V50 I feel was better than my previous LG phones for updates. However my market turned off 5G for me since we weren't officially launched. I don't want the S20 due to Samsung bloatware. The One Plus 8 is in the same boat with V60's resolution. So I'll just hold my phone till I feel there is a nice replacement

I'm probably going to go with the S20+. I want a 1440p screen and mmWave 5G. I can deal with the bloat if it means better software updates and access to Live Caption. Maybe even the S20 I may consider losing mmWave.

Last Samsung I had was the S3. My wife has the S8 still but haven't upgraded her yet. Not even sure if I should wait or just get her a new phone non 5G

There is very little bloat on recent Samsung devices, 99% of them can be uninstalled.

    • Was in Red Hook again and I swear there are more Link5G sites as there are Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T small cells combined in the entire neighborhood. It seemed like every other street I turned down had one installed. Hopefully carriers will start hopping on them soon. Seems like a lot of effort to go through for no one to use them.  — — — — — T-Mobile converted the Sprint site on top of NYU Langone Brooklyn in Sunset Park. I first mapped one sector of it back in November 2023 but I thought it was a small cell so I never pinned it but I ran into another sector today which caught me off guard. I'm unable to find a permit for the conversion so it's definitely a surprise. There's another T-Mobile site 1 block away that T-Mobile initially installed back in 2019 so I'm kinda surprised they're keeping both considering the Sprint conversion is on a much taller building and could potentially provide much better coverage to the entire area.  — — — — — The old permit expired for this site without any work being done but a new permit was just approved a few days ago for a T-Mobile site at this address. Description mentions 3 antennas with 2 RRUs per sector. My guess is they're doing something similar to what they did at 360 Furman St in Brooklyn where they broadcast Band 2/66 and n25/41 from one antenna. It's a bit of a downgrade considering the site it's replacing was a full build with Ericsson 6449s.
    • Still not seeing any ULS postings for pending T-Mobile UScellular merger in Dane county Wisconsin.
    • Came across another Crown Castle Solutions multi-tenant oDAS node in Brooklyn. Located at 40.7002286, -73.9612666. Nothing on T-Mobile or AT&T so I'm assuming these are all Verizon nodes that Crown Castle is anticipating another carrier will hop on down the line.
