Sprint up 30 cents this morning. Wonder what news was announced. Maybe they know about expansion plan.

Before publishing his article yesterday, Robert bought several hundred thousand shares of S.

Pump, pump, pump!

Now, dump, dump, dump!

:P

Random Sprint news. Sprint and Comcast have had a patent dispute going on for a while now. Comcast drew first blood winning a judgment in a patent suit against Sprint for $7.5 million:

Sprint delivered a nice counter punch earlier this month being awarded a $27.6 million judgment in their patent suit against Comcast:

User experience on a wireless network is highly subjective.

A dropped call is actual, really hard to fake that you know?

Now, saying a blanket statement that AT&T must suck because the whole network drops a lot of calls is subjective.

A statement that in the NYC Market, between my Sprint phone & my AT&T phone, the AT&T device drops more calls, is a lot less subjective.

Who said anything about faking anything. An end user experience on a wireless network doesn't easily translate into something another end user will experience because of the difference in where, when and how the two end users utilize their service. When comparing two networks the only thing you can say really is one works better for me, where I am at and with how i use the service, Generalizing beyond that is kind of pointless.

Funny.   :censored:

But to keep SEC investigators off my back, I have NEVER owned Sprint stock.  Not once.

But your wife and kids do? :-P

No.  Not even my wife and kids.  I know it's kind of funny to conjecture something like that among a tight knit group like S4GRU.  But it would be a crime for someone to create news to try to increase their personal stock value.  I just want to be clear, all joking aside, that I do not own Sprint stock, not even in a creative way.  And I stay out of the conversations in our threads regarding stocks as much as possible because I never want to be linked to manipulation of any kind.

I currently am under the loyalty offer for 12 months of free service. My question is if I paid off my installment billing early as of today. Am I able to get another device with installment billing under this promotion?

No it was a promotion for long time customers/those on legacy plans. I still have the unlimited my way plan. But there was offers for more minutes, special $5 leasing and the offer for a year of free service if you open a new line with installment billing. I think it was only around for 2 months.

Sorry...I did not mean to imply any wrongdoing. I applaud your efforts to be open and honest. Agree on all points!

Interesting tidbit to mention, according to my Fidelity account homepage Sprint was the 10th most active stock traded on the NYSE, NASDAQ, and AMEX today.

Unsure if it has been discussed but it sounds like the Sprint Radioshack deal fell through

More details or link? As far as I can see its already a go, and remaining stores are still up in the air.

Some talk about Gamestop is all I heard for remaining stores.

S4GRU moved markets yesterday.  Congrats on some great reporting!

http://www.bidnessetc.com/35659-2-reasons-why-sprint-corp-s-stock-rose-7-yesterday/

Indeed, though I don't know if their paraphrasing is entirely accurate:

According to unconfirmed reports from S4GRU (Sprint’s unofficial network tracker blog), the company is looking to expand its LTE footprint to 9,000 more markets, in addition to the network upgrade projects that it already has underway.

Are there even 9000 markets in the U.S.?

I don't know if this is what jamesinclair was talking about, but some sites had articles yesterday about the Radio Shack name now being sold off separately from the stores/leases (in an auction with a $20 million minimum bid), so the stores might not be co-branded as Sprint/Radio Shack if the name is sold to a different company.

Unless he read something else that I haven't

Yeah, just remember to invest with a five year outlook. Unless, the company could possibly not exist (American Apparel) in a few months, but those stocks are fun ways to increase blood pressure.

Yes thats it

RadioShack Corp.’s biggest shareholder, already seeking to buy hundreds of stores from the bankrupt electronics retailer, agreed to a separate sale of the chain’s name, with bids to start at $20 million.

Before the Fort Worth, Texas-based retailer filed for bankruptcy this month, Standard General agreed to bid on about half of the company’s 4,000 locations, with plans to co-brand some of the stores with Sprint Corp., the wireless carrier.

An official committee of unsecured creditors has objected to various aspects of the proposal.

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-02-25/radioshack-s-biggest-shareholder-to-bid-for-retailer-s-name

So if someone else bought the rights to the name, there would be no co-branding

Creditors have cast a wary eye at Standard General’s bid for part of the RadioShack business, in part because the hedge fund said it would keep the business in operation but didn’t propose to buy the name and trademarks.

Standard General has a deal to offer co-branded stores with Sprint Corp. , but creditors wondered what brand would share with Sprint if the RadioShack name wasn’t part of the deal.

Lenders Cerberus Capital Management and Salus Capital Partners, which aren’t part of the same lending group as Standard General, have prime claim on the RadioShack brand. They are owed, collectively, $250 million.

http://www.wsj.com/articles/radioshack-name-going-up-for-auction-with-20-million-opening-offer-1424881775

Sprint is still getting 1,000 new stores, they just might have nothing to do with the Radioshack brand or products anymore.

    • Since this is kind of the general chat thread, I have to share this humorous story (at least it is to me): Since around February/March of this year, my S22U has been an absolute pain to charge. USB-C cables would immediately fall out and it progressively got worse and worse until it often took me a number of minutes to get the angle of the cable juuuussst right to get charging to occur at all (not exaggerating). The connection was so weak that even walking heavily could cause the cable to disconnect. I tried cleaning out the port with a stable, a paperclip, etc. Some dust/lint/dirt came out but the connection didn't improve one bit. Needless to say, this was a MONSTER headache and had me hating this phone. I just didn't have the finances right now for a replacement.  Which brings us to the night before last. I am angry as hell because I had spent five minutes trying to get this phone to charge and failed. I am looking in the port and I notice it doesn't look right. The walls look rough and, using a staple, the back and walls feel REALLY rough and very hard. I get some lint/dust out with the staple and it improves charging in the sense I can get it to charge but it doesn't remove any of the hard stuff. It's late and it's charging, so that's enough for now. I decide it's time to see if that hard stuff is part of the connector or not. More aggressive methods are needed! I work in a biochem lab and we have a lot of different sizes of disposable needles available. So, yesterday morning, while in the lab I grab a few different sizes of needles between 26AWG and 31 AWG. When I got home, I got to work and start probing the connector with the 26 AWG and 31 AWG needle. The stuff feels extremely hard, almost like it was part of the connector, but a bit does break off. Under examination of the bit, it's almost sandy with dust/lint embedded in it. It's not part of the connector but instead some sort of rock-hard crap! That's when I remember that I had done some rock hounding at the end of last year and in January. This involved lots of digging in very sandy/dusty soils; soils which bare more than a passing resemblance to the crap in the connector. We have our answer, this debris is basically compacted/cemented rock dust. Over time, moisture in the area combined with the compression from inserting the USB-C connector had turned it into cement. I start going nuts chiseling away at it with the 26 AWG needle. After about 5-10 minutes of constant chiseling and scraping with the 26AWG and 31AWG needles, I see the first signs of metal at the back of the connector. So it is metal around the outsides! Another 5 minutes of work and I have scraped away pretty much all of the crap in the connector. A few finishing passes with the 31AWG needle, a blast of compressed air, and it is time to see if this helped any. I plug my regular USB-C cable and holy crap it clicks into place; it hasn't done that since February! I pick up the phone and the cable has actually latched! The connector works pretty much like it did over a year ago, it's almost like having a brand new phone!
    • That's odd, they are usually almost lock step with TMO. I forgot to mention this also includes the September Security Update.
    • 417.55 MB September security update just downloaded here for S24+ unlocked   Edit:  after Sept security update install, checked and found a 13MB GP System update as well.  Still showing August 1st there however.
    • T-Mobile is selling the rest of the 3.45GHz spectrum to Columbia Capital.
    • Still nothing for my AT&T and Visible phones.
