Wow, thank you Cloud121 for the tip. I will get it before Friday.

If you allow Google to back up your settings, your apps will automatically be downloaded when you sign on to your new phone. When I activated my EVO LTE after moving from the 3D, all my apps automatically loaded when I signed in.

Is this a setting in the Play Store?

Peace,

Does it still restore every single application that you have ever downloaded...ever.... ?

When I flash a new ROM after a full factory reset, it'll prompt to restore via Google Play after logging into your gmail. It'll download all of the apps you last had installed since the last backup that took place.

As far as I can tell, it only restores the ones that were installed the last time your phones settings were backed up. When I activated my EVO LTE, it only installed the apps that were installed on my EVO 3D. When I activated my S3, it only installed the apps that were on my EVO LTE. Other's experiences might be different, I don't know.

Google now will make calls, text, navigate, search with only using you voice. I personally love Google now. It also gives you traffic, weather, restaurants, lounges, etc.

I am accustomed to those voice functions by pressing and holding the search button on my 3D. If Google Now will do the same thing by my holding down the home button on my One, that will be a pretty smooth transition. Although I have a feeling there must be another screen tap involved, because I'm assuming the long hold on the home button will bring up the card and not immediately prompt for a voice command. A fairly minor issue, I'm sure.

Once the Google Now page comes up, just say "Google" and then speak your command.

Doesn't work on my inactive GS3.

Dang. Thanks for trying.

I was hoping to do some comparisons between the EVO LTE and One when I get mine on friday. I'll have to wait til I activate the EVO for my brother.

I will move my evo lte over to my other line to replace my gnex then add the One to my main line. I will be able to do a lot of comparisons between the two on friday.

That's when you say "Google" and then say what you want. I was used to how the EVO 3d was also, when I first got the EVO LTE there was no Google now, the voice had to be an app which was a bummer. I believe the HTC one Google now will work similar to the EVO LTE and all the nexus devices.

I'm just looking forward to getting my per-ordered new HTC One.

My OG EVO is really starting to get on my nerves with the self rebooting and the freezing.

(I know...I know...do a Factory Reset...have done that a couple of times in the past...not again...just going to wait for my new phone :D)

They changed slightly the wording on my order status page:

Thanks for ordering the HTC One Silver with White accent. Keep an eye out for a shipping email with your tracking information. Pre-orders placed through 4/16 are expected to deliver on or around Friday, 4/19. Any orders placed on 4/17 or later will deliver in 2 to 5 business days from order date. You may continue to track status of your order on www.sprint.com/myorder.

I believe it previously said they'd do their best to get it to me "by Friday, 4/19" and now it's "on or around." I'll be irritated if it's available in stores on Friday and I don't have it on Friday.

I would be too jsa. Hope that doesn't happen though.

For me there are too many variables in play to "pre-order & ship." That's why I went the "pre-order and pick up" route through my local Sprint corporate store. I am off on Friday so waiting in line in the morning is a non-issue and I'd rather have it in my hand before lunch rather than miss a Friday FedEx delivery and have to wait until Monday.

I called my local store yesterday to see if they had gotten word wether they will open early on Friday. He said they won't know until Thursday. I'll call back tomorrow, but they have said the chances are pretty good.

Peace,

DM

Good News, I'm going to get a One after all. I took my EVO LTE into best buy to get it fixed. They shipped a refurb to replace it that would not connect on 4G. The replacement they sent for that phone was DOA. They pre-ordered me a One yesterday to replace the DOA phone. :tu:

Gotta Love Best Buy!!!!!

Sprint Preorders are always the same and people always get upset. Sprint's preorder system stinks.

They will ship today via ups "second day air" according to the website but are actually overnighted. Those that preordered by the 16th will have their "One" by Thursday.

The exception was the EVO 4G LTE which was because of customs.

    • Since this is kind of the general chat thread, I have to share this humorous story (at least it is to me): Since around February/March of this year, my S22U has been an absolute pain to charge. USB-C cables would immediately fall out and it progressively got worse and worse until it often took me a number of minutes to get the angle of the cable juuuussst right to get charging to occur at all (not exaggerating). The connection was so weak that even walking heavily could cause the cable to disconnect. I tried cleaning out the port with a stable, a paperclip, etc. Some dust/lint/dirt came out but the connection didn't improve one bit. Needless to say, this was a MONSTER headache and had me hating this phone. I just didn't have the finances right now for a replacement.  Which brings us to the night before last. I am angry as hell because I had spent five minutes trying to get this phone to charge and failed. I am looking in the port and I notice it doesn't look right. The walls look rough and, using a staple, the back and walls feel REALLY rough and very hard. I get some lint/dust out with the staple and it improves charging in the sense I can get it to charge but it doesn't remove any of the hard stuff. It's late and it's charging, so that's enough for now. I decide it's time to see if that hard stuff is part of the connector or not. More aggressive methods are needed! I work in a biochem lab and we have a lot of different sizes of disposable needles available. So, yesterday morning, while in the lab I grab a few different sizes of needles between 26AWG and 31 AWG. When I got home, I got to work and start probing the connector with the 26 AWG and 31 AWG needle. The stuff feels extremely hard, almost like it was part of the connector, but a bit does break off. Under examination of the bit, it's almost sandy with dust/lint embedded in it. It's not part of the connector but instead some sort of rock-hard crap! That's when I remember that I had done some rock hounding at the end of last year and in January. This involved lots of digging in very sandy/dusty soils; soils which bare more than a passing resemblance to the crap in the connector. We have our answer, this debris is basically compacted/cemented rock dust. Over time, moisture in the area combined with the compression from inserting the USB-C connector had turned it into cement. I start going nuts chiseling away at it with the 26 AWG needle. After about 5-10 minutes of constant chiseling and scraping with the 26AWG and 31AWG needles, I see the first signs of metal at the back of the connector. So it is metal around the outsides! Another 5 minutes of work and I have scraped away pretty much all of the crap in the connector. A few finishing passes with the 31AWG needle, a blast of compressed air, and it is time to see if this helped any. I plug my regular USB-C cable and holy crap it clicks into place; it hasn't done that since February! I pick up the phone and the cable has actually latched! The connector works pretty much like it did over a year ago, it's almost like having a brand new phone!
    • That's odd, they are usually almost lock step with TMO. I forgot to mention this also includes the September Security Update.
    • 417.55 MB September security update just downloaded here for S24+ unlocked   Edit:  after Sept security update install, checked and found a 13MB GP System update as well.  Still showing August 1st there however.
    • T-Mobile is selling the rest of the 3.45GHz spectrum to Columbia Capital.
    • Still nothing for my AT&T and Visible phones.
