I just noticed that more area is mapped in that Chesterfield/ New Baltimore area. That's cool. It seemed like a really this band when I passes thru the other day.

I browsed a little bit but didn't really see a good description of the buildout. Should we expect to see a nearby towers also come online soon? Or could it be kinda sporadic? I don't travel that way very often but I work all over St. Clair County. Curious to notice a crew doing upgrades.

When it comes more this way I should be able to do a crap ton of mapping as long as it's in our county while I work. Can't wait!

Sprint is doing a "shotgun" deployment, then going back and filling in the gaps.

I live in Royal Oak and work in Rochester. 3G speeds have definately improved but still no sightings of LTE. I have a seperate device that is on LTE Only that I use to scan. Looking forward to seeing some LTE in the near future hopefully.

I cannot believe they turned on LTE towards Chesterfield. About 2 weeks ago I went to the best buy there (in the coverage area), and if I would have waited and went there now at least I would have TRIED 4G... Oh well. At this (surprisingly fast) pace Ill most likely see it by the end of next month.

They go where the site is ready.. Just because they're in Chesterfield now, doen't mean they'll stay in Chesterfield.. That crew working on that tower could go to Tawas next if the cell site there is ready to be installed.

When you say the "site is ready", do you mean permits? Or something physical that it needed? (new fiber, microwave or something)?

It could be permits, backhaul is complete, equipment for that site is ready, crews are ready, and ability to gain access to the site.

I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong but there's a number of things that need to be at the site in order for it to be upgraded. Equipment, backhaul (connection to the network) and manpower.. Most of the time, the permits were applied for and granted a while back.

Edit: I saw that the post had already been replied to after I had already entered it.

I knoticed that ehrpd is not coming up in my speed tests around Detroit metro it's saying evdo a revision does anyone know what the reason behind this could be? I

Try turning LTE off in your network selection menu, then turn it back on and see if that helps. If not, it could just be that they temporarily disabled it.

I drove around the New Baltimore area trying to put more purple in the map the other morning. I picked it up on County Line Rd near M-29 but couldnt get data to work despite having ok signal. Or what appeared to be ok signal anyway. When I entered New Balitmore it started working.

I work exclusivly in St Clair County so I'm super excited for us to get some going to test out. I will map the crap out of it then!

I guess i'm addicted now. I keep checking Sensorly for another tower to come online. I did the same thing when Comcast ran the new wiring for internet a few years ago. I watched the trucks string all the wire all over town. :)

Your friend doesn't know what he's talking about seeing as deployment is under way.

Trust me I really hope he is wrong :), but he was right about wimax the entire time

If you give a donation and become a sponsor you can track the progress of completed and in progress sites ..... Detroit is going to take a while before you will have enough service area to launch the market, but they should deff be working in Detroit.

How do I give a donation and how much does it have to be to become a sponsor!

On the main page here on the top right corner theres a donation button. If you can donate 20 or more it would be greatly appriciated as it helps support this site, but whatever you can afford will work as well.

    • Since this is kind of the general chat thread, I have to share this humorous story (at least it is to me): Since around February/March of this year, my S22U has been an absolute pain to charge. USB-C cables would immediately fall out and it progressively got worse and worse until it often took me a number of minutes to get the angle of the cable juuuussst right to get charging to occur at all (not exaggerating). The connection was so weak that even walking heavily could cause the cable to disconnect. I tried cleaning out the port with a stable, a paperclip, etc. Some dust/lint/dirt came out but the connection didn't improve one bit. Needless to say, this was a MONSTER headache and had me hating this phone. I just didn't have the finances right now for a replacement.  Which brings us to the night before last. I am angry as hell because I had spent five minutes trying to get this phone to charge and failed. I am looking in the port and I notice it doesn't look right. The walls look rough and, using a staple, the back and walls feel REALLY rough and very hard. I get some lint/dust out with the staple and it improves charging in the sense I can get it to charge but it doesn't remove any of the hard stuff. It's late and it's charging, so that's enough for now. I decide it's time to see if that hard stuff is part of the connector or not. More aggressive methods are needed! I work in a biochem lab and we have a lot of different sizes of disposable needles available. So, yesterday morning, while in the lab I grab a few different sizes of needles between 26AWG and 31 AWG. When I got home, I got to work and start probing the connector with the 26 AWG and 31 AWG needle. The stuff feels extremely hard, almost like it was part of the connector, but a bit does break off. Under examination of the bit, it's almost sandy with dust/lint embedded in it. It's not part of the connector but instead some sort of rock-hard crap! That's when I remember that I had done some rock hounding at the end of last year and in January. This involved lots of digging in very sandy/dusty soils; soils which bare more than a passing resemblance to the crap in the connector. We have our answer, this debris is basically compacted/cemented rock dust. Over time, moisture in the area combined with the compression from inserting the USB-C connector had turned it into cement. I start going nuts chiseling away at it with the 26 AWG needle. After about 5-10 minutes of constant chiseling and scraping with the 26AWG and 31AWG needles, I see the first signs of metal at the back of the connector. So it is metal around the outsides! Another 5 minutes of work and I have scraped away pretty much all of the crap in the connector. A few finishing passes with the 31AWG needle, a blast of compressed air, and it is time to see if this helped any. I plug my regular USB-C cable and holy crap it clicks into place; it hasn't done that since February! I pick up the phone and the cable has actually latched! The connector works pretty much like it did over a year ago, it's almost like having a brand new phone!
    • That's odd, they are usually almost lock step with TMO. I forgot to mention this also includes the September Security Update.
    • 417.55 MB September security update just downloaded here for S24+ unlocked   Edit:  after Sept security update install, checked and found a 13MB GP System update as well.  Still showing August 1st there however.
    • T-Mobile is selling the rest of the 3.45GHz spectrum to Columbia Capital.
    • Still nothing for my AT&T and Visible phones.
