Sensorly - New market deployements

Recommended Posts

It'll flip back and forth, with no discernible pattern, but the whole page will go to French. Now, that's not a problem for me...

but for others I would imagine it might prove to be annoying, if it's even happening to others.

Yeah I've seen the same thing. Sometimes it's in French.

The site being down had nothing to do with my 2g/3g data not being recorded. I've been trying to get my neighborhood/local areas that are unmarked added to the Sensorly map for a few weeks now. Nothing. I do wish Sensorly would help the few of us with issues.

Is there something different about your phone than the typical one? I see everyone else having success with the app except for your installation.

I'm rooted running freegs3. No additional mods. 3g works, ehrpd works, 2g works, GPS works. Everything is functional. Is it because I'm on ehrpd instead of Evdo that's making it not upload?

There have been many reports of 3G/2G data collection not updating on the Sensorly maps. I'm not sure what the bug is, but it doesn't seem to be location or device specific. However, every 4G data point seems to update without an issue across all devices.

I have a slight objection to that....I've still yet to see the LTE range of I-81 MM 263-256 in Virginia show up on the coverage map from where I picked it up on my active trip mapping on the way back from PA Monday. All the points were there from everything I mapped once I got home, but nothing showed up on the coverage map after the fact. I didn't have that problem on the way up last Friday though. It makes me think there might be something going on on the other side of the equation, perhaps intermittently.

Do you have it set to upload continuously or WiFi only? That's all I can think of, is something getting lost if it doesn't get uploaded in a timely manner. Other than that, I have no answer for what you've been seeing. Maybe Sensorly can chime in?

Definitely not the issue.

Suepr nit-picky here, but can Sensorly (for Android) also add a mobile hotspot restriction? The newer Android APIs have support for detecting which Wi-Fi networks are mobile hotspots.

I have the charging-only and WiFi-only options enabled, and found myself eating up hotspot data since it was uploading. I just happened to be charging at the same time and I forgot about it.

On another note, it could be a better user experience if there was an option to do manual uploading only. Lots of new users are getting confused as to whether or not their results are uploading (it's not super obvious.)

My 2 cents.. thanks for listening!

Sensorly got a website. I didnt know this.

The darker the purple, the stronger the signal.

All in all, a good warez.

Sprint LTE mapping has more detail than Verzion or ATT. As someone have said, its because of the free buffet of data we getting from Sprint for now. :o

I'm curious as to what sprint will call the new 800mhz 1x coverage or when it will show up on coverage maps.

Extended Nationwide Sprint Network?

They cant just group it with the rest of the 1x network because it only works on recent devices.

For suggestions to sensorly. If it is possible it would be nice to see a map of a couple things. First it would be great if you guys could add an eHRPD map so we can tell which markets have it. Also it would be nice to see a map of 800mhz smr 1x coverage seperate from regular 2G if possible.

Probably just additional voice coverage and that's why they want you to pick your device.

Does the Airave affect perceived signal strength? The weak coverage in my area is suspiciously greener right by my house.

I find that you will see bright green on the Sensorly map for your house if your phone connects to your Airave and/or Wi-Fi while you are running Sensorly.

800mhz 1X support has been built in to Sprint devices for quite some time. The original EVO supported it.

I'm not in a place where I can check now, but if memory serves, the OG EVO did not support CDMA 800. Only 850 Cellular, which was commonly labeled 800 back then. Someone can fact check that for me.

90% sure that the Evo 3D was the first to support it.

Any device that had the 606xx PRLs will not use the 800SMR. I believe it was the 21xxx PRLS that the EVO 3D and I think one other phone had it (can't remember) did have the 800SMR scans in them but they were set to a lower priority than the PCS scans. I haven't seen a recent copy of that PRL range though as most of the techy people that could pull those PRLs have moved on to other devices.

Even the 55008 PRL the new Photon and iPhone5 runs does not have 800SMR either. That's a puzzling one.
