My question is does Sprint pay backhaul vendors by fiber bandwidth? Otherwise why don't lay down the top bandwidth from beginning.

 

You pay for what you need.

 

No use in paying for 500 mb/s connections when the most you're going to use is 200 (37 for each sector x 2 for LTE 800 + 1900 x3 for 3 sectors).

Yeah, and even outside on the street. I'll try it by my home in Staten Island and see if I get better results.

Indoors is a lot more complicated, different obstacles can affect signal significantly. Outdoors you should see better performance. Also the fact that you pick up LTE is always a good sign, can you verify whether its B25 or B26?

All I know is that on the Sprint website it says the area by my job is Spark enabled, but my experience was terrible. I didn't ever get anything above .75 mbps down on LTE there. 6mb is good for almost anything on the web. Indoors its much harder to get a signal. You dont have access to Wifi? Can you post a screen shot of your engineering screen? 

 

Band 26 is still making the rounds, so you still have a change of getting better performance out of that band or even Band 41 if it can penetrate through the building your in.

SO I lived in Ridgewood Queens pretty much almost my whole life. I just recently moved back... and I dread every moment of it... Flashbacks to when I first started with Sprint 12 years ago. I live in the dead zone area again... right now Im blessed with .36mbs download... .64mbs upload at 3g on a Note 3... Sprint has been promising Update Towers since 2012 for this area... I been following this site for about 2 years now just finally registered because I want to know the details on how this all works. Any insider info because this is last few days ago I spoke to Retentions and told them this is gonna be the last FALSE PROMISE I accept from them... if Jan come and they didnt update this area Im cutting my 5 lines off Sprint and going with TMobile. Someone can you please direct me on how to better understand all the lingo used here and Cell Site updates and what not? (SORRY FOR BEING A NOOB and FOR VENTING AT THE SAME DAMN TIME)

Either get a triband Spark device or go to another provider. 

 

A Note 3, by the virtue of being a single band PCS 1900 only device, is terrible in extreme urban zones like NYC where capacity is a huge issue that can only be fixed by wider carriers which are only available to Sprint on the 2500-2600 Band 41 spectrum that Sprint is actively deploying both on the old Clear sites and now on Sprints own sites. So you absolutely need a Spark triband device in practically all Sprint markets if you want a decent experience and your Note 3 is not going to do well.

Many of them are provisioned the same backhual speed as the 5 mhz carriers so they mostly top out at 40mbps as 5mhz FDD tops out at ~37 mbps.

 

The backhaul providers will be busy delivering more bandwith for the new carriers soon enough. It'll be much easier this time as they're mostly fiber based or other types of easily scalable backhaul. There's already a number of sites starting to hit 60-80 mbps after it was turned on and initially provisioned 40 mbps.

Is this something simple? Like, just a phone call or an order of some sort? It doesn't require a site visit, does it?

Contacting the backhaul provider is required. Sprints stuff is ready whenever the provider is able to deliver the higher bandwith. At best it's just a phone call and they can remotely provision higher speeds and worse case scenario is the backhaul provider needs to do physical work on their own equipment.

Thanks for that info. So I was reading somewhere the Note 4 isn't Tri-Band either? I so want the Note 4. And when you guys refer to "backhaul provider" are you referring Sprint or the company who builds the Towers or is that like a broadband provider who actually owns the Fiber Optic hard wir?

Every Sprint device released 2014 and on is triband including the Note 4. 

 

Backhaul (High speed internet) is provided by a third party that services the area with high speed fiber or equivalent connections to the Sprint tower.

oh ok. I figured Sprint didnt have their own Fiber Optic Infrastructure laid out. So while waiting for a response I went back to my history to see where last night I read that the Note 4 wasn't Tri-Band and this site states that on "THE WALL"??? And my other question was how do I gain access to the Forums parts? I want to keep up with those updates and I'm trying to figure out if the 2 cell sites that are the main reason I'm caught in a dead zone as too they weren't update since around the time Sprint came out with there first clip color phones my guess pre 2003.

It doesn't have all the frequencies that are part of the new cca/rrpp, that is what everyone on s4gru wanted. Because it costs more.

 

Keep in mind, fiber backhaul to cell sites is different from fiber backhaul to your house. Cellular backhaul does not touch the Internet between cell site and switch. (Point to point)
