Not quite. Swiftel is still limping along.

OK, I thought they were gone.  They probably should be gone.  To be fair about it, I do not travel through the Swiftel area or live there, so I should not be commenting about their service, good or bad.

Any 20x20 from them yet?

We have Band 41 on sites that need it.  Have some 10X10 band 25 at some places.   Some of the Shentel territory is rural, and it just does not make sense to activate everything that may be possible.

IIRC the general consensus from people who live in the area or have travelled through their territory is that they're quite horrible. :(

Why not? That would make Sprint a big contender in that area.

Sure it would be nice to have Band 41 in every corner, but if you saw how rural some of these areas are, you would not spend the money to activate band 41 either.  When you have more cows and cornstalks than people, you need cell service but you do not need 3xCA band 41. if you have two band 25 channels running at 20 down each, would you spend thousands to add band 41?

I was actually talking about B25 since 20x20 is possible in that area. If I'm thinking of the right area. Wasn't talking about B41. For that B41 would be if the 20x20 plus 10x10 along with B26 slows down

Would it ever make sense for Sprint to acquire Shentel or does the current affiliate agreement make more sense?

Makes sense. Shentel is paying for the network deployment for those specific areas. Less work for Sprint.

20X20 on band 25 could be possible in some of the rural areas but I have not seen it anywhere.  Some of the more populated areas that I frequent do not have it either, probably because CDMA voice is still needed.

From what I've heard 20x20 is possible with Spectrum still left for CDMA

I know Sprint has the Hulu arrangement, and perhaps we’ll see a discounted “Live TV” plan for Sprint customers soon.

However, did Sprint miss out on an opportunity here?

Sprint will be better off keeping that 325 million tord the network.

Alcatel-Lucent PCS CDMA / LTE equipment do not support 15x15 or 20x20.  Up to 10x10 per carrier. 10+5 CA possible. Don't think 10+10 and up is not.

Need to double up on radio / antennas to use that equipment as its configured.

What does it take to do 15x15 of higher? What's the Orlando market for equipment I can't remember?

Normally I’d agree with you, but $325 Million for an established IP TV platform is a deal.

Sprint currently has its own Sprint TV service, which never seems to get mentioned at all.

The Sprint Website contains these old pages:

https://shop2.sprint.com/en/services/power_vision/sprint_tv.shtml

https://www.sprint.com/landings/tvguide/

The Sprint TV App for iOS currently has a 1.2 Star Rating and it hasn’t been updated in a year.

The Android App was last updated in October 2017, and has a better rating: 2.8 Stars.

I think Sprint would have been better off putting the money that it put into TIDAL into this instead. TIDAL seems like a dead end to me, and I’m not sure Sprint will ever make its money back on its investment.

Do you realize how much more money you be shelling out to run a cable operation with channel contracts and the like, asking  to be paid more with each contract renewal. That's a chore all on its own and Legere will find out.

Orlando has Ericsson B25 equipment. Samsung B25 equipment has recently been certified for 15x15 too. ALU B25 equipment has not.

Isn’t Sprint already paying carriage fees with its TV App?

Minus the upload speeds, do these numbers really show a difference in real world usage? I don’t think so. It is good to see Sprint have a average above 20mbps now.

Actually, the consumer is paying for it when they have a certain package or channels initiated. Owning a cable company is another matter all in its own.

I wonder if Nationwide 4x4 mimo 256qam will help? Sprint needs that more than anyone. Same for 64qam on up

    • Excuse my rookie comments here, but after enabling *#73#, it seems that the rainbow sim V2? requires n70 (I turned it off along with n71 - was hoping to track n66) to be available else it switches to T-Mobile.  So this confirms my suspicion that you need to be close to a site to get on Dish.  Have no idea why they don't just use plmn. To test, I put it into a s21 ultra, rebooted twice, came up on T-Mobile (no n70 on s21).  Tried to manually register on 313340, but it did not connect (tried twice). I am on factory unlocked firmware but used a s22 hack to get *#73# working.  Tried what you were suggesting with a T-Mobile sim partially installed, but that was very unstable with Dish ( I think they had figured that one out).  [edit: and now I see Boost sent me a successful device swap notice which says I can now begin to use my new device.  Sigh.  Will try again later and wait for this message - too impatient.]
    • Hopefully this indicates T-Mobile hasn't completely abandoned mmwave and/or small cells? But then again this is the loop, so take that as you will. Hopefully now that most macro activity is done (besides rural colo/builds), they will start working on small cells.
    • This has been approved.. https://www.cnet.com/tech/mobile/fcc-approves-t-mobiles-deal-to-purchase-mint-mobile/
    • In the conference call they had two question on additional spectrum. One was the 800 spectrum. They are not certain what will happen, thus have not really put it into their plans either way (sale or no sale). They do have a reserve level. Nationwide 800Mhz is seen as great for new technologies which I presume is IOT or 5g slices.  T-Mobile did not bite on use of their c-band or DOD.  mmWave rapidly approaching deadlines not mentioned at all. FWA brushes on this as it deals with underutilized spectrum on a sector by sector basis.  They are willing to take more money to allow FWA to be mobile (think RV or camping). Unsure if this represents a higher priority, for example, FWA Mobile in RVs in Walmart parking lots working where mobile phones need all the capacity. In terms of FWA capacity, their offload strategy is fiber through joint ventures where T-Mobile does the marketing, sales, and customer support while the fiber company does the network planning and installation.  50%-50% financial split not being consolidated into their books. I think discussion of other spectrum would have diluted the fiber joint venture discussion. They do have a fund which one use is to purchase new spectrum. Sale of the 800Mhz would go into this. It should be noted that they continue to buy 2.5Ghz spectrum from schools etc to replace leases. They will have a conference this fall  to update their overall strategies. Other notes from the call are 75% of the phones on the network are 5g. About 85% of their sites have n41, n25, and n71, 90% 5g.  93% of traffic is on midband.  SA is also adding to their performance advantage, which they figure is still ahead of other carriers by two years. It took two weeks to put the auction 108 spectrum to use at their existing sites. Mention was also made that their site spacing was designed for midrange thus no gaps in n41 coverage, while competitors was designed for lowband thus toggles back and forth for n77 also with its shorter range.
    • The manual network selection sounds like it isn't always scanning NR, hence Dish not showing up. Your easiest way to force Dish is going to be forcing the phone into NR-only mode (*#*#4636#*#* menu?), since rainbow sims don't support SA on T-Mobile.
