  1. I don't have an external SD card in my GS3 yet. I copied the zip file onto the phone in the Download folder, but I don't see a way to get to it when I boot into the update mode screen. Is an external SD card required to do it this way or can I place the zip file somewhere on the base filesystem and update from there?
  2. When I left town this morning it was eHRPD and was yesterday too. I flew through Charlotte today and eHRPD was on there too.
  3. Right, many folks have seen this happen often in other markets too. Flips back and forth between the two. Good to hear someone finally sees it here though. I stopped by two towers today where work was scheduled to start in September and still nothing. No new panels, no new equipment. The areas didn't look disturbed at all. So, we're either behind schedule or the order of towers has changed around some. Bothers me we STILL weren't in Sprint's list of markets with active deployment.
  4. Me too, think it's a good idea. But it was confusing for a minute or two when I kept hitting "Next Unread Topic" and getting things I knew I'd already seen. Thought I was going nuts. Just had to mark everything as read and now I'm back to normal.
  5. And HughesNet just launched their "Gen4" service with 20, 30 or 40GB for $50, $80 and $100 respectively. Of course, half of that data bucket is from 2AM - 8AM every day. They advertise download speeds up to 15Mbps and upload speeds up to 2Mbps. http://www.hughesnet.com/index.cfm?action=dspHomepage That's about on par with Verizon's HomeFusion if you have Verizon LTE available in your area. That offers 30GB of data for $120/mo.
  6. The scheduled/completed work on Sprint's maps at network.sprint.com are not related to the NV rollout. They are band-aid fixes to the legacy network until NV comes along. So, if you've seen upgrades there you should not assume that NV has started on those towers.
  7. Makes me wonder if Sprint will decrease their projections for completed sites in their 3rd quarter earnings call or if they'll continue touting 12,000 by year end.
  8. Seems to me more like a jaguar. You need a second to drive around while one is in the shop.
  9. Yeah, they also don't mention it on their website as one of the "Showcase" phones. Only phones there are GSIII and the Photon Q. I've been gunshy about the EVO LTE and I guess this just confirms my worries. Man, I really liked that phone.
  10. I have about 7 app updates from the Play Store that I keep ignoring because I know it won't work. Fortunately I work from home most of the time so I don't have to use my phone THAT often. Just waiting until I make a decision on what phone I want. Still leery of the Evo.
  11. NOW you tell me the Hero was crap. After I had to find out on my own. I'm ready for an upgrade and really like the EVO LTE, but I'm still gunshy with all the connectivity problems.
  12. Clearwire Wi-Max backhaul and Sprint 3G backhaul are completely separate. Data Speed upgrades are being done in the Raleigh area on existing Sprint sites now, even before NV work has completely ramped up. Those are shown at network.sprint.com but are only for Sprint sites. I don't think it's been reported on here whether or not Clear is updating any backhaul or not. My guess would be more people switching to newer phones without Wi-Max and potentially less people using the Clear towers.
  13. I read this the same way. Nothing changing right now, but just like any business they will reevaluate the situation in the future. Obviously I hope they stay with unlimited data and I think they will for quite some time. However, they've already eliminated it on their broadband cards and wi-fi hotspots so it is not out of the question that it might happen on smartphone plans in the future. For now, though, until the state of their network improves it's really their main selling point. Coverage is not as pervasive on a national level as Verizon or AT&T and we all know how bad they let their 3G network get.
  14. My corporate plan gets 25% off, but only on the primary line. It used to be on all lines until a couple years ago and then it changed to just the first two lines on the family plan since they were grouped together at the same price. Then last year they split out the price of the primary line and second line of the family plan and stopped taking the 25% off the second line too. So, they've been raising my prices quite a bit already the last couple of years. Although I still also get 25% on my broadband card since it's a separate line. And it's grandfathered with unlimited data which is one of many reasons I'll stick with Sprint.
  15. It's Alive!!!! You've been so quiet since coming back to NC.
  16. Does this mean it might be possible, if you bought a Verizon or Sprint iPhone 5, to one day take it to the other carrier and have it activated? Not that I'd want to do that, or even that I'd want an iPhone 5. Just curious.
  17. Were there any black helicopters circling around overhead when it was happening?
  18. Sprint is putting NV (upgraded 3G and LTE) on ALL current towers except for a handful as Robert's mentioned before. Not only that, but they will also be putting 800MHz voice and LTE on over 80% of their towers starting sometime after the Nextel IDEN shutdown is complete, starting middle of next year.
  19. I've seen this as well with my broadband card. During moderate to heavy rain the 3G is pretty much operating at 1X speeds. I'll even see it drop to 1X at times during storms. Just have to kind of wait it out and then disconnect/reconnect to get back to 3G.
  20. I remember seeing somewhere on these forums a link to documents showing that Sprint was asking the court to subpoena some websites to hand over the details of who the person was. Quick google search found this: http://techlaw.justia.com/2012/07/13/sprint-asks-court-to-subpoena-twitter-facebook-google-for-identity-of-self-proclaimed-company-mole/ My guess would be he's laying low trying not to be found out. Haven't seen any updates on the Twitter feed or anywhere else in a while, but it's been a couple weeks since I looked.
  21. According to the premier sponsor maps it's about time for that tower to get NV upgrades. I would suspect that's Sprint NV upgrades happening. If you upgrade to premier sponsorship you can see planned dates for each tower upgrade in all the markets.

    Bent my EVO LTE

I did something similar with a cheapo pre-paid phone that my work got for me years ago before I had one of my own. Had it in my shirt pocket, went to the restroom at McD's, reached over to flush and it slipped out as I pushed the lever. Woosh, it was gone. It wasn't the size of an EVO LTE or an SII so it fit through the pipes. Thanks goodness, I certainly didn't want to retrieve it.

    OTA for EVO Available

That's good news. I'm overdue for an upgrade and like the EVO better than the S3 when I played with them both in the store a bit. But I was just too skeptical with all of the connection problems. If things are better with this new update I might think about it a little more seriously now. Although I'm still thinking about possibly holding off to see if theres a phone early next year with 800 LTE.
  24. Did you cycle your EVO to CDMA-only and then back? Or to airplane mode and back? There are known connectivity issues with the EVO LTE that have been discussed in these forums ad nauseum and on the wall. There was an OTA for the EVO today which is supposed to resolve these issues.
  25. I haven't seen those issues at all. Maybe something wrong with your phone? Take it to a Sprint store and have them check it out.
