  1. That's true. I was thinking about that when I saw the picture in the article. It's probably not too big of a deal for texting where you're sending mostly smaller messages, but could be for other types of interaction (e-mail?). I wonder if it only work in a landscape, or if they can make the touch points small enough to work in portrait as well.
  2. Between the site that themuffinman mentioned as active in the other thread and this site, could Sprint finally have stopped blocking LTE? Or maybe it's just not as widespread as it seems.
  3. I'm wondering, if the material moves it couldn't be glass right? Wonder what it does to the sharpness of the image on the screen versus glass.
  4. Here's a link to a video on their website. http://www.tactustechnology.com/technology.html Of course, since my Sprint 3G connection at home sucks I won't be able to watch it until it finishes buffering probably after midnight sometime.
  5. For those of you who love slide-out keyboards on your phones, here's an interesting article on what the future might hold to satisfy both those who like to feel the keys and those who prefer the thinner phones with no keyboard: http://whatsnext.blo...ar/?hpt=hp_bn11 Looks really cool. Don't know how far from implementation in real-world phones it would be, or whether any manufacturers would be interested. As a consumer, I know I would be. Edit: Missed at the end of the article, they expect products mid-2013:
  6. "All I want for Christmas is my LTE. My LTE. My LTE. All I want for Christmas is my LTE, then I could text you Merry Christmas."
  7. If I was HTC, though, I'd be pissed that Sprint tied the LTE launch to the launch of the GS3. But, the sooner the better. :-)
  8. In case any of you use LinkedIn, you might want to change your password: http://www.pcworld.com/article/257045/65m_linkedin_passwords_posted_online_after_apparent_hack.html
  9. I guess it's getting it from the cell network then. I'm not too familiar with how that works. Probably time to call Sprint and let them know, so they can get a code fix out for it. Especially if multiple people are seeing it.
  10. Can you tell what time server it's configure to use? Or is it even using NTP or trying to get it from the cell network?
  11. Whether you are on a contract or not is a tricky question. I wanted to add an old phone I had to a new line on my account for my in-laws who were in town for a couple of months. Sprint told me the new line had to go under a 2 year contract even if I had my own phone. If you're just switching an existing line that you've had for more than 2 years over to the new phone that you bought, I would agree. Still keep your upgrade eligibility and not in a contract.
  12. Uh oh... Can you see how this doomsday scenario could play out? NV doesn't go live until 2014 when Dan Hesse finally asks who is on these "Business Teams" and everyone realizes they don't exist. By then, all towers have been ready to go for a while, so Sprint flips the switch nationwide overnight 2 years from today.
  13. Good question, I'd like to know too. I did see this in the announcement:
  14. I don't think Robert meant to imply that they were holding off on backhaul updates. What he was saying was that Sprint isn't waiting for backhaul to be ready before they turn on NV for a site. The original plan was to put NV equipment in place but not enable everything for that site until the backhaul was ready. Instead, they are putting in the NV equipment and connecting it to the legacy backhaul until the new backhaul is ready. Then they will got back and switch that tower to the new backhaul when it's available.
  15. I've been to Europe for work with my non-international Sprint phone so couldn't use texting or the phone. But with the availability of Wi-Fi, sending/receiving e-mails worked well and I could just check those from my phone whenever I was connected (which was most of the time anyway). And is free in most places.
  16. Man, I didn't realize the coverage improvements with NV would be THAT good. Does your Uncle for work Sprint?
  17. That's one big airplane graveyard! Learn something new everyday. http://www.desertusa.com/mag06/apr/airplane.html
  18. That all depends though on when Sprint announces the NY market as live, even if the towers are live. As has been reported here for other towers/markets, LTE is live on many sites but at this point Sprint is blocking LTE for customers. Until they open it up, the site might be live but not accepting LTE connections.
  19. The maps on this Site are NV only. Not related to Sprint's 3G maintenance. You would have to go to the network.sprint.com site for that info.
  20. From the maps in the Premier Sponsors forum, work for NY60XC155 started a few days ago and NY05XC315 is scheduled to start in a couple weeks. Scheuduled to be online in the mid to late July timeframe, assuming the schedule there still holds.
