Also, I only have a very weak LTE signal at my office at about -110 dBm on B26.

I wouldn't call -110 on Band 26 "weak". That's actually a pretty decent signal. I get a -114 signal at my home (not all towers around me are broadcasting/optimized yet) and I can still yield speedtests of anywhere from 3-10+ mbps. -110 on Band 25 would have been bad because of how easy it is for it to deteriorate from the high frequency, but since Band 26 propagates so well (in regards to Band 25 propagation) a -110 signal isn't too bad. Just my two cents :)

Does the Field Test trick still work with iOS 8 and iPhone 6 to keep signal numbers up top instead of dots?

trick still works.  keeps the signal numbers.  :tu:

If it's an issue with iOS, it'll be fixed in the next update. If it's an issue with the screen, apple will replace the phone for free. All new devices and operating systems have their faults.

Went to the Sprint store today gotten my phone replaced.  So far so good, no more issues with screen being unresponsive.

Bringing up the 1x800 topic, I noticed that yes, it appears it is difficult to get the phone to attach to this frequency under normal conditions. However if a call is initiated when the phone is connected to B26, the call will connect through 1x800.

I've had 3 calls today go straight to voicemail without hearing the iPhone 6 ring. One was a WebEx conference callback that took two tries before it went through... it was kind of odd.

I'm either on 1x or B41 or 26 LTE at the house, so I'm curious if something is afoot, or if I'm carrying a goofy device.

I also had some problems with my WiFi speeds. My last speed test on my Laptop via WiFi:

3780117079.png

And on my iPhone 6:

Download Speed: 40.84 Mbps

Upload Speed: 4.98Mbps

Ping: 57ms

I reset my network settings, but it's still pulling less than half of the speeds that my Laptop is pulling on the same network. It's bizarre.

Sounds like eCSFB issues, assuming the device is not at fault. I would call or tweet sprint care to check on the network. If it turns out it's not a systematic issue i would see if you can replicate the issue at the Apple Store and get an exchange.

I can attest to the wifi issues. I've been experiencing them mostly on my 5s when I had it. Wifi appears to be okay with the 6.

Side note: doesn't this happen every single time apple releases a new ios and phone and the whole world freaks out haha.

Also excuse my Apple ignorance, last time I had anything close to an iPhone was a second gen iPod touch.. Anyway, what is the point of the icons shifting down and giving a blank spot? attachicon.gif ImageUploadedByTapatalk1411438884.136140.jpg

Called reachability. Apps move down so you can use the phone easier one handed if you can't reach the top apps with your thumb.

Aw I thought it was going to be something cool like a hidden area where I can put crap like iBooks and that health app I haven't even used yet

This is android thinking. That area will remain empty for eternity.

I ordered the 128GB Gold 6 Plus, and for the price, I can understand that they might have less orders than the smaller, lower priced 6 Plus models.

I ordered my wife a gold iPhone 6 128gb Plus last Tuesday around

1030am.. I got a call from the Sprint store this morning and picked it up around noon. The manager told me he had seen a total of only three iPhone 6 plus models including mine and he was surprised mine came so fast but "it had to be because mostly have ordered a 16 gig or 64 gig model " .. My wife is happy and it came in only 6 days.. 3 days after launch..

It's fast and the screen is rich looking... Can't get it to hiccup no matter how busy it gets

Wife had to restore her iPhone 6 and her iCloud backup could not be restored so she had to pick one from Thursday night. Hope this isn't a common thing.

Having backups not able to be restored.

Ive never had that happen to me. In fact, I've personally never heard of that ever happening. Something like that is not common.

My wife started playing with my 6 last night. She has a 5s.  She is basically sold to the bigger screen.  She was complaining about how big they were getting but once she had it in her hand and started surfing/calendar lookup and other items, she loved it.

My wife went the other way - "that's way too big for my hands."

I hope Apple keeps the 4" form factor for a while - teens and women could have trouble with the 4.7" as a base size.

    • I'm wondering which geographic areas T-Mobile might be interested in obtaining, or if it's strictly a spectrum sale of some kind.  In Virginia, US Cellular got three of the B41 licenses, including two in areas I frequent.  These two are in an area where US Cellular is severely spectrum constrained--just one block of CLR (B5) and one 5x5 in AWS-3 (B66), all running LTE.  (So 10x10 and 5x5.  Select towers also have B48 LTE on them, which is clearly at least 20 dB weaker than B5/66.)  I could definitely see interest from T-Mobile in the B41 licenses, but would have a hard time picturing US Cellular trying to continue serving these areas if it can't use spectrum to beef up its already-overwhelmed cell sites with more capacity.  (They keep adding towers to this very rural area to make up for it.)  Would T-Mobile buy out the area entirely to get a hold of the B41 licenses (and the B66 couldn't hurt either)?  Given US Cellular's strangehold over the area, would it even sell in that eventuality?  And then what would happen to the B5 spectrum?  Lots of questions.  Got my fingers crossed for T-Mobile obtaining the area and keeping most or all of the sites, as it could quickly and easily make reliable rural broadband a thing in the area, especially given how the Shentel merger went.  But I really have no sense of how likely it actually is. - Trip
    • Excellent discussion on Dish possibility here at 24:10:  https://the-week-with-roger.captivate.fm/episode/this-week-the-state-of-broadband-with-jonathan-chaplin Episode 191
    • Yup, you’re correct! Fortunately it’s all in one band so the modem will only see it as seven 100MHz n258 carriers if/when it gets deployed. Before the swap they'd have to aggregate multiple mmWave bands to do that and I'm not certain multi-band mmWave aggregation is possible with current handsets.
    • T-Mobile giving up 400MHz of n260 to AT&T in order to gain 300MHz of n258 in NYC. Before: 400MHz n258 400MHz n260, 50+50MHz n261 500MHz n262 After:  200+500MHz n258 50+50MHz n261 500MHz n262 It's net loss of 100MHz however they now control the entire 24GHz band which is the "lowest" of the mmWave bands. It should have better propagation characteristics than other mmWave bands and at 700MHz it'll be capable of 3-4Gbps throughput. Hopefully this is the impetus for T-Mobile to start deploying mmWave in NYC again. Don't know if it's just me but for the past 2-3 months I basically stopped mapping new 5G small cells on T-Mobile in NYC. I'm definitely reaching but maybe they're going to start again soon with mmWave + midband (fingers crossed)
