another thing to consider with these new plans, it does not appear to include the EASY PAY costs.

 

So these are the costs, then another 20 to 30 for easy pay (or pay $40 month to get subsidized phone).

Thanks, I see it now.  I was reading too quickly and equated mobile broadband devices with mobile hotspot capable devices.

For the lower data tiers it costs $25 per device unsubsidized and $40 per device subsidized. That would make the subsidized device a better deal unless contracts bother you. At least for flagship level devices.

He's right though. This was not epic. Not disruptive at all. Sprint doesn't have the network to compete with big red and blue.

 

Here's the thing: the $100 promo is quite good if you've got even three lines, because of the extra stuff Sprint adds on top for new customers: 2GB of extra data per line, and no access fees until 2016...and I'm sure they'll have some new promo to take advantage of at that point. By comparison, T-Mobile's offer drops to 4GB around the same time frame, though I think TMo will actually let you use their new plan as an existing customer.

 

Now, if you're talking about existing customers, Sprint loses out: the access alone are $100 for four lines. If you're comparing to VZW and AT&T, you get double the data at $160 for four lines, but for those same four lines there's no price point between 4GB and 20GB the way the access fee is structured. Then again, VZW and AT&T pull the same crap at the lower tiers, except worse (you have to get 2GB of data on VZW to actually come out cheaper than 10GB).

 

Really though, Sprint is pretending that it isn't competing with T-Mobile. Again. Yeah, have fun with that.

With what they have put their subs through the past couple of years, this was a big mistake. What good is bringing in a bunch of new subs and spending a lot to do it at the cost of giving current subs the finger?

 

Just comes across as continued tone deaf management.

Depends on how much Sprint discounts smartphones going forward when you get 'em with a contract. Remember that the two-year contract price up front is non-zero. The break-even point is $360 of subsidy rather than $360 of phone value. So, you're right, a $200 S5 is a better deal on-contract for lower-end plans, but a $300 S5 wouldn't be.

They believe they can play a long shot instead of going aggressive, by being a little bit cheaper than others.

 

But it's not that disruptive. Hope the individual plan can be impressive.

lets see what happens for the individual plans later this week. But how it looks, I might be staying on my unlimited my way plan. I think the new family plan would be great IF the access charges was removed.

Apparently, they are moving away from the unlimited.

They believe the best profit is from those who use less than 5GB per month. It needs some gut to push those heavy users to Tmo.

I'm still thinking they should make the $amount lower in order to quickly grab users.

But this may not be their current focus. As we all know they can revise the plan with cheaper price at anytime, as long as it's going to get cheaper so the users won't complain.

Speaking of these plans, no where was it mentioned anything about Unlimited, folks are starting to say that Unlimited is gone if thy go for these plans. Regardless of unlimited, I really do not see how these plans are suppose to be so easy to understand when there are so many caveats and foot notes to them.

Uh, folks, before you go all apeshit on this plan, have you viewed the table that Ian posted on a previous page?  For clarity, I will repost it here:

Examine the three bulleted conditions for migrating existing accounts.  Many of you can meet just one those conditions.  And that is all you need.  So, do not be so rushed to judgment.

In that case I'm probably one of their most profitable customers. I rarely exceed 500MB per month. And with this plan I feel like they knocked on my door and pissed on my shoes.

That is what I was trying to say about the different between the price new subs pay and what existing subs pay.  Simple and clear plans are ones that don't require a page of FAQ's and footnotes to explain.  Current subs are going to see these new plans promoted on TV, go into the store, and told they are only for new subs.  Just like Framily it is going to cause confusion a negative experience.

Looks like I'm sticking to our 130 dollar 1600 minute EPRP plan. Not impressed with the new plans, and I'm not surprised that they aren't as good as they should be.

I wonder if this is finally the end of unlimited.

I still don't understand everyone's frustrations. Maybe I'm not thinking hard enough. People on Google+ seem to be loving it.

 

 

Well, all is about the expectation.

I have to say Marcelo hyped the members here including myself too much.

 

When you draw the line too high, it's difficult for you to get satisfied.

 

For new users, those plans are not bad but not impressive enough.

One thing that's obvious is Tmo reads the forums.. I know the shot about existing customers is all the complaining on various sites.. Hopefully Sprint reads it and adjusts the same way he did when the uproar came from them removing discounts (Tmo)...

 

Don't think sprint gets it quite yet..

But now they have retention options ...

AJ how do you think we should reconcile that table with the answer in the FAQ:

 

I'm a current Sprint Customer. Can I get 20GB of high-speed data on up to 10 lines for $100/mo?

Current customers can get 20GB of high-speed data for up to 10 lines for $160/mo, but the promotional price of $100/mo applies only to lines that are switched from another carrier to Sprint.
