I just got that email from Sprint also....

LOL I just checked the email on my sprint account and I got it also. Maybe they're trying to not so subtly hinting that an update is coming shortly?

If its not coming in the very near future... I think they shouldn't have sent the email out. Sprint has to know that there are many people who are waiting for this update.

I look at this the same as when Sprint said it was coming earlier on. They're just going off the information they have. If its delayed again, it'll be unforseen circumstances again.

Are we really still posting this blogspam? It's a maintenance update. No big functional or visual changes will be made until the next major release.

Also, that article took all the information from this AP article http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/05/09/rumor-google-exploring-home-screen-overhaul-with-revamped-notification-shade-recents-menu-and-more/.

I don't think it was posted as anything other than interesting. Which it kind of was. Thanks for the original article though.

Sorry I didn't know it was "blogspam" I'll be more careful next time. Just found it on my Google now and thought it was interesting to share. Anyways thanks for the original article.

I've gotten the exact same email before. A couple of times. I think it's just a generic thing they send out.

Same, and while I don't really mind this one too much (other than that it wants me to check for an update that's 6 months old), I could do without the dozen plus copies of the "The network in your area has been upgraded!" email.  Every single one is identical...

Had to fastboot reset my phone last night because my cache became corrupt so I am back on the .23 modem. Well it looks like I am having no problems connecting to the B41 site near me with it. Funny how it is hit or miss with .17 and .23

Spell checker liked it.

My spell checkers are on either side of my nose and between my ears.

Do any of you guys have a preferred custom recovery for the N5?

TWRP, for two reasons: It lets you backup your partitions separately (including your EFS partition, which is great for swapping PRLs and such), and it doesn't hold your backups hostage. ClockworkMod made a change a while back in the name of security which puts your backups in a location on the phone that you can't easily pull them to your computer. ROM Manager has a feature that allows you to access your CWM backups over HTTP to archive them on your computer, but it's paid-only.

TWRP. I tried CWM and it was confusing and buggy as crap for me so I went right to TWRP. Granted I haven't used CWM since then...

Yeah, I used to be a huge fan of CWM recovery. I just got used to it from the OG EVO days. But that new security feature where I can't export my backup to a PC or something really killed it for me. TWRP all the way now.

I don't know if anyone else is experiencing this. Whenever I try to change my band settings to anything other than b41-1, b25-2, and b26-3. Only thing I get is 0,1,3.  Regardless of the settings that what I get. If I use the 0,1,3 setting will it still scan the bands properly? I'm on .15 modem firmware. I want to change it to b26-1, b41-2, and b25-3. Is there a problem with my device or is it the modem that I'm using causing this?

    • Was in Red Hook again and I swear there are more Link5G sites as there are Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T small cells combined in the entire neighborhood. It seemed like every other street I turned down had one installed. Hopefully carriers will start hopping on them soon. Seems like a lot of effort to go through for no one to use them.  — — — — — T-Mobile converted the Sprint site on top of NYU Langone Brooklyn in Sunset Park. I first mapped one sector of it back in November 2023 but I thought it was a small cell so I never pinned it but I ran into another sector today which caught me off guard. I'm unable to find a permit for the conversion so it's definitely a surprise. There's another T-Mobile site 1 block away that T-Mobile initially installed back in 2019 so I'm kinda surprised they're keeping both considering the Sprint conversion is on a much taller building and could potentially provide much better coverage to the entire area.  — — — — — The old permit expired for this site without any work being done but a new permit was just approved a few days ago for a T-Mobile site at this address. Description mentions 3 antennas with 2 RRUs per sector. My guess is they're doing something similar to what they did at 360 Furman St in Brooklyn where they broadcast Band 2/66 and n25/41 from one antenna. It's a bit of a downgrade considering the site it's replacing was a full build with Ericsson 6449s.
    • Still not seeing any ULS postings for pending T-Mobile UScellular merger in Dane county Wisconsin.
    • Came across another Crown Castle Solutions multi-tenant oDAS node in Brooklyn. Located at 40.7002286, -73.9612666. Nothing on T-Mobile or AT&T so I'm assuming these are all Verizon nodes that Crown Castle is anticipating another carrier will hop on down the line.
