  1. ^ Thus it fits into my estimates which correlates to the original estimates in the premier forums which (from what little members told me) have most of the work being done in the june-july-august time frame. Which fits into what jay says which is 2 months-ish.
  2. 3g can be accepted with or without upgraded backhaul. 4G will only be activated if they have upgraded backhaul. If a tower is 4g accepted then it has upgraded backhaul.
  3. Easy. My estimates include what i can grasp from the limited info that premiers gave me and from what I figured. A permit to work on a cell site takes about 3-4 weeks to get issued. At the earliest, if they've begun applying within these weeks, are middle to late may before crews can work. It takes on average 45-60 days to get the first signals up. Samsung may be aggressive so stuff may get some sites done in late June but the bulk of the work will most likely be worked on after July. Lower central valley is to be begun late summer so they won't wee anything rill probably the September time frame.
  4. When the local ilec decides it's "that time" to go trenching some fiber to the cell site. Possibly the #1 reason for the delays that seems to plague Sprint.
  5. Expect blots of purple to appear in june - july time frame with the majority of work being done around july to august. Work has not started but will within a couple of weeks... sucks but meh
  6. You have to wait for robert to verify and upgrade your rank. He's currently on vacation to who knows where so he's in and out of data service depending on which of his devices he's using. He should get to it by tomorrow. If not, send him a pm.
  7. first 2 weeks of may for Sprint. Last 2 weeks of may or early june for verizon.

    Epic 4g Touch

Battery bulge problems on galaxy S2's have been recorded for many many months. It's nothing to do with the update. Just get an aftermarket one like Anker or go to Sprint and they'll replace it question free.
  9. I believe stealing iphones in NYC is so prevalent that NYPD has a special task force assigned to hunting down people who steal iphones. http://www.cnn.com/2...pd-iphone-squad Lesson learned: Don't treat your phones as just "$200" devices because of the subsidy. Thieves can make an easy $400+ each stolen iphone if you are unaware and "look" like an easy picking.
  10. Apparantly the one is the first phone to have a removable sim from sprint. http://www.engadget.com/2013/04/08/htc-one-for-att-sprint-review/
  11. take some photos of the base stations and of the panels and we can tell if sprint is on there or not.
  12. NSN's use a flexi base station which is literally a giant box between all 3 sectors... Here's a good pic of one from hofo... I've seen them in permits and their RRUs are called TMU's for some reason. http://www.howardfor...ound-Emporia-KS Also has some good pictures of a Sprint ericsson setup.
  13. /shrug Word on the street is they've only just begun to gather the contractors and get equipment stocked. Best case scenario is they start applying for permits from now to the end of april. Even then, the fastest I've seen permits get accepted is 3 weeks (and it was for t-mobile's modernization program). So even then, I don't expect anything to start till at least the middle of may and nothing accepted until well into june. LTE .. hah... I'll be glad if I see anything til july... I'm nearly 75% positive than t-mobile will have LTE before sprint down here (they've begun modernizing beginning in october with 5-10 permit applications every 2 weeks). But that's another story.
  14. At least you're getting something up there.... still waiting down here.
  15. A tower is ready to go live when: 1) New base stations and misc. equipment are powered, secured, hooked up, 2) antennas are in place and connected to RRU's and to the base stations, and 3) backhaul is connected so it can connect to the regional msc. A network vision tower may go live after these basic requirements are fulfilled to undergo testing and adjustments. Any problems here that the contractor finds are thus corrected. When the contractors feel they are ready, they will contact sprint to indicate they are ready for inspection by a inspector (who is usually an employee of another independent vendor). If the inspector finds any problems, he will write it down and inform the crew and sprint that they failed inspection. The crew will need to fix the said problems and call for another inspection once they're done. If they pass the inspection, the crew is paid for their work and the site is thus officially "live" and accepted. There are some outliers where the cell sites are materially finished but not live but those are special cases.
  16. All towers are upgraded the moment they are ready regardless if backhaul is in place or not. They will not just sit on a single thing as it just only slows down their work. If a tower does not have the neccasary backhaul in place then they'll upgrade it as is and hook it up to the legacy backhaul and only enable 3g and return for 4g when backhaul permits. A network vision tower can and will use legacy T1 backhaul for 3g but 4g can and only will be turned on with upgraded backhual.
  17. It's mainly based off Confucianism where everyone is expected to have a place in society and uphold that place to maintain harmony and peace. It's an Asian thing and one of the reasons why Asians are (forced to be) academically superior to nearly every other race. You have a place in society, you keep that place. If someone screws up then they'll fix it. People will learn from the mistakes and life continues on.
  18. See these following threads for a very, very informative discussion about T-mobiles 4g network and Sprints 4g network projects. http://s4gru.com/ind...-sprint-4g-lte/ http://s4gru.com/ind...verybody-elses/ Long story short, T-mobiles currently does not plan to expand LTE coverage to areas that do not already have HSPA. Any areas that are Edge / 2g will stay that way for the conceivable future (at least till 2015) and will most likely not be touched until all their HSPA coverage have been worked on. By 2015, Sprints Network will overall but much more attractive than T-mobile in terms of coverage and indoor penetration due to sub 1ghz spectrum (SMR 800) which will make Sprints LTE characteristics nearly equal to that of Verizon and ATT. T-mobile will no doubt sometimes have better LTE speeds in urban areas thanks to the fact that they own a lot of 10x10 in many areas of the country but once you get out of the urban area, you'll most likely drop to 2g which is a huge shocker. Sprint will have at least a minimum of 3g EVDO incase you get out of LTE range. In the end. T-mobile is a very, very attractive option for urban dwellers who hardly ever go out of the city or travel around. Sprint will have a network that will only get better with time in both urban and more rural areas. Sprint/Clearwires TDD-LTE will put a damper on T-mobile speed wise if Sprint decides to deploy them in all of its urban markets while SMR 800 will put T-mobile to shame.
  19. Network Vision upgrades in the Las Vegas markets has been ongoing for several months already. Many sites have been accepted for 3g already and is why you see better 3g speeds now (upgraded backhaul). Alcatel-Lucent tends to bring 3g online first and then 4g several weeks later. At this rate, expect the first 4g blips to show in the next 30-45 days.
  20. It's when most It's when most markets are set to begin NV deployment.
  21. Robert needs, on average, $20 per new sponsor in order to keep the site running, the maps in the backend running, and himself and the rest of the data gatherers running. He appreciates any amount you send him as long as it's not minuscule like under $1 (where paypal starts taking a big portion of it). http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/1195-information-about-s4gru-sponsorship-levels-and-how-to-become-a-sponsor/
  22. 1st) @newgroundsguru... aka cell site ID which is sponsor info unless otherwise proven. 2) All this talk about looking up at sprints website about upgrades is irrelevancy and plain idiotic. It's been repeated again and again that the updates shown on Sprints site is the sum of all maintenance work done by Sprint or its contractors either for legacy maintenance (bandaid fixes) or network vision. No one will or can be able to identify what is legacy bandaid fixes or what is network vision work from it so using that as a source is a no go. Only s4gru sponsors can reliably see what is going on with network vision upgrades and where they're taking place. 3) Here are some general knowledge stuff people should read about to understand what is being talked about here. FAQ http://s4gru.com/ind...sked-questions/ Sponsor Info http://s4gru.com/ind...come-a-sponsor/ Rules http://s4gru.com/ind...-aka-the-rulez/
  23. This is a place to discuss Sprints Network Vision and everything associated with it. Not a place to discuss or rant about Sprints pricing, coverage, etc. S4GRU has always advocated that people get what best suits their needs even if it meant getting devices from ATT / VZ / T-mobile / Regionals if they served you better than sprint.
  24. Not that hard to be honest. Not that hard to be honest... Going from bottom to top 1. ATT 2. Nextel 3. Verizon 4. Sprint
