  1. Iphone 5 is not SMR 800 enabled YET I think. It's a PRL issue according to digiblur (he's the resident PRL master/specialist) but that's what I understand.
  2. Anything above $1. Any less and paypal takes more than what the person gets.
  3. May I refer you to this? http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/1197-s4gru-posting-guidelines-aka-the-rulez/
  4. Looks like a NV backhaul upgraded site. Low pings (around 100ms), >1 mbps DL speeds, and UL speeds in the 500-1mbps bracket. Legacy backhaul never gets that kind of speed or ping these days.
  5. Bay area is a Samsung market. Ericcsson markets are nowhere near the west coast. They're mainly in the east. West coast is all Alcatel-Lucent and Samsung. Ericsson does work for ATT so it's probably ATT adding additional LTE coverage.

  7. Shotgun style. Whenever a tower is ready, be it in the city or in the rural areas, crews will hop on it. Tendancy is for crews to start at more rural areas to mitigate problems for end users in case they screw up on something if it's a green crew (all contractors are local people).
  8. Hahahahahaha... It's... http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/1195-information-about-s4gru-sponsorship-levels-and-how-to-become-a-sponsor/
  9. There is basically too much in variables in a GMO to say anything about how they're upgrading these sites. They're GMOs for a reason after all. It could be A) Insufficient backhaul without significant costs, the actual cell site cannot support the mounting of the new antennas without significant work being done, or 3) local owners presenting problems. GMOs are going to be the last ones to be worked on after they're done doing the basic things. So the earliest Sprint could upgrade these to full builds are going to be in 2014 most likely. Standard NV deployment time frame applies but with the added effect of engineering the sites for the upgrades or relocating it to another locale.
  10. Down tilt, density, and closeness of signal. In extreme urban areas like NYC, cell sites are configured for maximum density and as such are usually made to cover only a few blocks to maximize capacity. Right now, their down tilts are at a minimum to provide maximum coverage which sacrifices in building penetration. Reception indoors should get better as more towers come online and down tilt is adjusted from maximum coverage to providing maximum capacity within a small area.
  11. Hmm... It'd be interesting to get a breakdown of the Northern Cali / Southern Cali markets. Maybe start in the central valleys [cough sacramento cough] since we have nothing much going on for now lol. But I do like to see who holds what up in the major California markets since they're closer to me. ATT and VZ's still going full steam in my area and t-mobile is making inroads with their spectrum repurposing (also new equipment while they're at it). Not to mention we also have sprint's legacy, clearwire, and metro pcs around here.
  12. Everyone has their own preference in the Android, IOS, and WP communities. I personally like android because I can customize it to what i want it to be. IOS is perfect for those who just wants something simple that does everything for them. Let people choose what they want and don't judge just because of their preferences. --Side note : May i suggest we remove the aforementioned posts to keep this market thread clean and focused on NYC's NV rollout?
  13. Upgrades can be anything within the past 6 months. It could be network vision upgrades. It could be legacy bandaid fixes. Hell it can even be maintenance for network vision towers. it's a never ending process for sprint in keeping towers up and running with minimal problems for the end user. They will always be on the lookout for places where they need to improve but in the next 3-6 months you can be sure that most of what shows up on Sprints site are NV upgrades.
  14. Another thing to add. T-mobiles coverage indoors and coverage outside cities is laughable. T-mobile LTE can be hell of a lot faster than sprint (if they use channels wider than 5x5) but it doesn't matter if you can't get it inside a building or when you get one mile outside a major city. Their speeds are respectable but their coverage and indoor penetration leaves much to be desired.
  15. iirc, Robert mentioned that samsung rrus can do both smr and pcs so they only need two rrus at the bare minimum.
  16. [redacted/ dk beat me by a second w/ almost the same info]
  17. http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/1197-s4gru-posting-guidelines-aka-the-rulez/ Do what you have to do.
  18. If i'm not mistaken, that is the domain of shentel or another sprint partner.
  19. I actually corrected myself after I reread that a few times, hence I crossed it out. I'll expect nothing and be happy when something happens.. Good to hear the Bay actually have 800 going active. Thought it was mainly out in the east and midwest still. Meh. Those lucky bay folks.
  20. Interesting. If I interpret this correctly, it seems they'll be starting NV upgrades in central valley region and doing CDMA 1xA rollout instead of waiting around. I do know for a fact that nextel decomissioning hit most of the region back in late september through october so it wouldn't be too hard to deploy that when they do NV upgrades. Well, other than that... yay!! A reference to northern cali at last! Nvm...
  21. This site and forum and the threads within the forums are a library of knowledge. If you seek something then somewhere around here is your answer. Much information will be available to you as just a member while others are reserved for sponsors and premier sponsors. Inform and educate yourself and participate. This is not a place to rant about sprint and none of us want this place to degenerate into the hell hole that is known as the sprint community boards. http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/1197-s4gru-posting-guidelines-aka-the-rulez/
  22. A lot of testing happens at night to minimize disruptions to users.
