  1. VM only throttles you to 250kbps once you reach your 2.5gb limit, which is actually pretty usable compared to tmobile 60kbps and atts .10ishMbps. I would not complain of they did add a tier system, so you could get more data before the throttling.
  2. Samsung did not buy vlingo, nuance did. Samsung just partnered with them to make s-voice. Also, Siri was originally using nuance technology, and probably still is(apple does license the technology), which is why they act very similarly. So Siri/vlingo/s-voice are really all the same, just different names.
  3. I love apple as much as the next iSheep, but this is ridiculous. Htc is not even a threat to them. Just kicking them while they are falling. Apple is really petty. I thought with jobs gone, this would end. I wish apple would follow Microsoft and just license thier patents. Hurt the manufacuters by taking a slice of their profits, instead of trying to destroy them( which is not working).
  4. I thought sprint should have made the logo look like it(4G) was being raised to the power of LTE
  5. Very smart move by Sprint. I could see this being very a successful move by them. I do think they need to have a BYOCDMA, even if it is just other sprint phones.
  6. If you are still doing this once the iPhone 6 comes out, I might hit you up. 3 bucks+ shipping is a steal. Also could you do it for an iPad?
  7. AT&T is getting an exclusive red one. I hope sprint gets an exclusive all black with red trim, like the Evo lte. Or just all black. I want a black phone, not pebble blue.
  8. Donate over 100 dollars to the site.
  9. I don't agree with the article 9to5 made. The logic is not sound. They basically said it was not going to happen, because the device would be coming out as the new iPhone comes out. Plus someone in the comments made the point that boost and virgin's newest phones are last year phones for sprint. Also I am sure sprint wants to get rid of as many iPhones as they can. Plus with cricket getting the iPhone, people could leave boost/virgin to get the iPhone. I also think both need to open up their network to other sprint devices. Have a BYOCDMA.
  10. here is a Link to an article Robert did about the USVI schedule http://s4gru.com/index.php?/blog/1/entry-156-network-vision-schedule-update-for-puerto-rico-and-the-virgin-islands/
  11. I found this nugget of information compared the spectrums building propagation. Being from Verizon, I can understand questioning the validity, but It does bring up the question of how much better is AWS or 1900mhz compared to 2.5Ghz.
  12. You are correct about the PCS H block. Seems like it has been in planning forever.I was talking about the rest of the SMR800, but I was saying it was a possibility, not that it is set in stone going to happen. I was just pointing out that Sprint is in a good position in terms of spectrum. I really doubt the rural and sub-rural areas are going to need more than 20-30Mhz of spectrum, and the cities that do need it, have at least 70Mhz of 2500-2600.
  13. How much AWS could they really get? Buying up Metro and Leap would probably cost them somewhere around 15+ billion dollars, and that would only give them around 10Mhz of nationwide AWS. I doubt they would ever get a good enough amount of AWS. According to http://specmap.sequence-omega.net/ Sprint has almost complete nationwide coverage using just Block A and B, which are 30Mhz blocks, plus more in blocks C-F, which are 10mhz and 10Mhz nationwide on the G-block If you do not trust that source, One of our contributors, AJ, created this map some time ago of Sprint's spectrum holdings. Even if we go by this map, Most areas are covered in 30Mhz of spectrum. This map does not include sprint's G-Block either. Unless Sprint decides to buy the spectrumCo AWS, they will not get enough AWS for it to matter. It would be better to focus on bolstering PCS holdings, Buying Clearwire( which including debt would be cheaper than Leap or Metro), and possibly buying the rest of the SMR in the future.
  14. Here is the Link of the band classes that I found http://niviuk.free.fr/lte_band.php Band 5 is regular 850, and 8 is 900Mhz. For it to support Sprint's 800, it would need to be band class 26. Also Band Class 2 is traditional 1900mhz, not included the G block, which is what Sprint will be using for LTE. It would need to support Band Class 25. Edit: One extra thing I will add is that the picture is from Barclays Research, not the manufactures or apple, plus it is only an estimate.
  15. Completely agree. FCC really fudged up. I remember reading( prior to the auction) how 700mhz was going to make us like europe, and that networks would be open. You would be able to take your phone from one carrier to another and it would still work. Fast forward to now, and almost no 700mhz network works with another. Europe somehow can have every country have all their networks work together, but we cant even get 2 networks to work together. sprint's focus should be on expanding coverage, PCS H block, and buying Clearwire. Sprint already has a ton of PCS nationwide, and Clearwire's spectrum would be perfect for spectrum crunch.
  16. I do not think they have to offer the phones with LTE. I think offering them with 3g will be good enough until sprint is ready to let their prepaid phones get a taste of LTE. And with network vision, those customers will still see good 3G speeds.
  17. Yea, I think Virgin mobile is behind when it comes to opening up their network to other phones. I think they could steal a ton of customers from Cricket and Metro, if they let customers flash sprint smartphones to their network.
  18. I wonder if sprint will follow and let boost/virgin mobile customers buy iPhones outright to use.
  19. I am not sure about the accuracy, but here is a nice site for spectrum of the some regional and large carriers. http://specmap.sequence-omega.net/ I know the national carriers have unused spectrum, I was more talking about the fact that they have way more spectrum that is not being used at all, as in no native coverage. Metro has a sizeable amount of spectrum that is not being used at all, especially in the AWS block. I feel like that spectrum would be better utilized by the national carriers compared to keeping the regional guys around. here is a photo that shows the combined spectrum of Metro and Cricket and their cities they have service. Sprint and SouthernLINC are the only two carriers I know of that have any 800SMR spectrum.
  20. If the regional carriers all merged together to make one large 5th National carrier, that would be sweet, but if that is not possible, I would rather Sprint and Tmobile buy up the rest of the regional carriers, so we have 4 Strong National Carriers. I agree with Randall Stephenson, that we have too many players and we need some consolidation, but I do not agree that the consolidation needs to come from the national guys. The regional guys have so much spectrum being unused.
  21. Samsung is trying to be the Apple of Android. Also, you preordered and you still gotta wait in line? Screw that. Screw waiting in line in general. I'd rather wait a week when no one is around or order online.
  22. I believe West Virginia is a Shentel market, so robert does not have much information on them, but shentel has already joined in Network Vision, and is going to have a majority of towers done in 2012.
  23. I think it is possible. The ATT iPad included LTE 700 and AWS, and ATT does not have an AWS network or even plans to use their AWS network anymore. If apple could fit 700 and 2100/1700, I do not see why 800 and 1900 are not possible.
  24. If that is the case, then it seems like SouthernLinc might be joining sprint in their Network Vision plans. If it did happen, It would be huge for coverage in Alabama/Georgia.
