  1. I agree that 4G has been butchered. I hope they just go with LTE/LTE-A logos. none of this 4g BS. What are they going to call LTE-A? 4G-A? 5G?
  2. Superman style Case for a Super Phone.
  3. You might want to get a LifeProof Case. Or carry a Dummyphone for those "accidental" drop moments.
  4. I think Sprint said they would buy more share to not dilute their stake any further. http://www.bgr.com/2011/12/01/sprint-and-clearwire-ink-new-4g-wimax-and-lte-agreement/ I guess it was not enough to stop the diluting if they are down to 47% voting power.
  5. Cell sites are more expensive than adding additional carriers and take longer. Also no carrier is going to build a nationwide 2600mhz network, but to use it for capacity is very smart. Have a sub 1Ghz band to build coverage, and a high band for capacity. Our data usage is still growing at an exponential rate, and who knows if it is going to subside. Now phones can play HD video, and we have apps like youtube, Netflix, etc. That spectrum is going to be useful in the future in cities, rural areas not so much.
  6. I cant see apple changing the price. Its not their style really. Also I think this is the year we see apple make 32Gbs the standard. Android phones come with 16GBs standard now with expandable memory, and the price of storage has dropped significantly since they made 16GBs the standard. iPad 3 LTE is at the same price point of the iPad 2 3G.
  7. They launched finally. Prices seem pretty good. 40 dollars for unlimited everything and 20 bucks for unlimited talk and text. they are selling the GS2 epic 4g touch for 550.
  8. I was talking about what Sprint could do with that spectrum, so it is not just sitting unused. Clearwire does not have the funds, but sprint would. Also Sprint would not need to make a nationwide 2.5ghz network.
  9. Would they need more spectrum? In the top 100 markets, Clearwire averages 150 by comparison Verizon averages 118 I believe. I believe it will be eons before they need to participate in a spectrum auction. Also they would not have to sit on it, They could start a home internet service with that spectrum. Plenty of people are stuck with slow speeds from their ISPs, and sprint could come in offer better speeds at a competitive price. Or sprint could focus on mobile devices, and offer better data prices compared to the other three, while offering faster speeds. Or a bundle of both, like clearwire does currently. Both of these plans would have more users jumping to sprint, which means the spectrum is making them money.
  10. I havent heard anything about verizon, but ATT is not following with this. Their plan to thottle the top 5% back fired real bad, since people were getting throttled after 2Gbs, so instead of doing top 5, they just switched it to 5gbs for lte and 3gbs for HSPA+. http://9to5mac.com/2012/03/01/att-changes-its-throttling-techniques-3gb-for-hspa-iphone-5gb-for-lte-gets-you-on-the-naughty-list/ Link to the story.
  11. I think Sprint would rather eat up clearwire vs letting tmobile or another major competitor buy them out. I am sure sprint is just waiting for the right time to buy them out. I feel like the quarter after sprint becomes profitable, they swallow up clearwire.
  12. ATT does not need to do this. they already limit unlimited data users. If you have a 3g/HSPA+ device, then you get throttled after 3gbs, and 5gbs for LTE devices. I could see a good amount of disgruntled Verizon/ATT customers jumping to Sprint, especially if their LTE speeds are in the 6-8 range. Cmon Sprint press the HyperTurbo button on LTE rollout.
  13. CenturyLink does make more sense than Apple and Google. They are the third largest telecommunications company, and currently do not have any wireless of their own.
  14. Robert said that it is 3% less than Verizon's 700mhz. I do not think you will tell a difference between the three.
  15. They are only for new customers. you cannot have an existing account.
  16. Sprint.... The Only None " Will this make me go over my Data Limit" Network.
  17. I dont see a reason to have anything bigger than 20mhz channels. 20mhz TD-LTE is capable of 300Mbps on its own, but for capacity,
  18. I do not see this as a good idea, especially if they want to be a wholesaler. ATT/Verizon have said by 2014 many areas will become spectrally constrained.
  19. the sim was an assumption on my part. The mircoSD card slot is in the same spot as the One S MircoSim slot. Edit: It is also in a similar spot as the One X microSIM slot.
  20. I think people would prefer to have expandable memory over being able to hot swap sim cards, especially when they are used to not being able to do so on a cdma network. For me, I like to listen to music on the go, but sometimes My signal falls in and on( especially when I am on the train). I'd rather have my music stored on the phone and not in the cloud. And for Sprint benefit, They see less unnecessary usage. Think about if most people had to switch to cloud storage for music. Their internet usage would go through the roof. ATT/Verizon/tmobile benefit from overage charges, but sprint would not.
  21. It was probably a choice between embedded memory like the One X and removable sim or expandable memory and embedded sim. I think Sprint made the right decision.
  22. I dont know. They can still succeed in the retail market, especially in markets where ATT/Comcast/Verizon/etc are not willing to spread out their high speed internet. I just think the should have walked into the water instead of diving head first into the 3 ft deep water. they average 150mhz in the top 100 markets. There will be surplus to fit the needs of their retail customers, plus they would make more money from retail than wholesale.
  23. Most countries have 3-4 strong carriers and a bunch
  24. WOW those are some speeds. you almost hit the theoretical max.
