Network Vision/LTE - Missouri Market (includes St. Louis)

I don't think csfb is the only cause. I'm sure it isn't a conspiracy but the .23 radios on the N5 seem to be keeping everyone from connecting to much of the upgraded equipment out there. Since I down graded my radios to .15 I'm now able to grab and hold LTE signal far longer than ever before. Definitely a problem with software not hardware.

.23 drops the LTE signal quicker at low levels because 3g is faster once LTE drops below -110 or so. .15 will cause you to miss calls and texts if it connects to a non-eCSFB tower and you won't realize it. .17 fixes the eCSFB issue because it won't connect to towers that don't have it. It also holds LTE longer even when dropping to 3G would be better.

I've used .15 and .17 before, I'm just sticking as close to stock as possible so updating is as easy as possible. I live in a very rural area so no b41 for me, no b26 sightings as of yet. I just found the first 1x800 last week.

On that note the tower in gray summit is broadcasting 1x800. I couldn't get a screenshot because my n5 kept dropping 800 for PCS.

Like David said, you might be surprised at what you find in that area. We are kinda tied up on what we can mention.

I got the hints lol. I'll keep an eye out and forward any info I find to a sponsor for our market. Here's hoping that change log means the n5 update will be out soon. I'm tired of ghetto rigging to get the phone how it should be lol.

been getting b41 in alot of places where wimax was available on the m8, seems like about 60% b41 completion so far of the areas I frequent.

the nexus 5 spark delay is getting frustrating.

no...

i have been getting band 41 (on m8), in many of the same places where wimax is available (I still have a wimax hotspot, not to mention inactive evo4g/evo3d).

meaning, that in my experience thus far, half or more of the wimax spots in stl are also active b41 spots, of the places that I have visited.

I would assume, that only existing clearwire sites are doing b41, unless they have also started converting sprint only sites in this area to b41 too.

I don't follow b26 on here, so I don't know if this will help or not. But I just got this. It's in Columbia IL

Just got b26 again, but this time in Troy, MO. Even at - 110 to - 120 dB I got 6.35 down and 1.22 up. I an beyond impressed with this. I recently lost my sponsorship status (it expired) and haven't had time to donate again to check the tower, so I can't say what tower it is. But I doubt there are many out here. ehuvudy5.jpg

If you are going to be out near Troy at all, could you turn your logger on and send me it when you get a chance?

Absolutely. I will try to donate soon, but I've been super busy lately and it hasn't been at the top of my to do list. That way I can hopefully be more help.

I have not seen any b25 at all. I've been through downtown too and didn't see any either. But that may have been because I was driving and moving too fast for it to stay in range long enough to connect.

Edit: my apologies, I read that as b41. I wasn't paying enough attention. I have gotten b25 out here before, but it was before the site logger was a feature in signal check.

I think the reason he asked is because we need the B25 info before we can confirm the B26 info. Your log showed me enough. Usually while on B26 it will flip to the B25 side so i was able to confirm accordingly. Specific info is posted in the Premier sponsor section.

Finally managed to pick up the Laclede Station/Highway 40 Pole. Just B25 at the moment, was told a few weeks ago when the crew was on-site that they had all the hardware installed for Spark.

If anyone has any SCP logs they want me to check, send me a PM.

I'd send you but it's only going to show my normal b25 and two known b41 locations so not much help. I'm waiting for a future import function for SCP to possibly preload locations for the site notes.

    • Excuse my rookie comments here, but after enabling *#73#, it seems that the rainbow sim V2? requires n70 (I turned it off along with n71 - was hoping to track n66) to be available else it switches to T-Mobile.  So this confirms my suspicion that you need to be close to a site to get on Dish.  Have no idea why they don't just use plmn. To test, I put it into a s21 ultra, rebooted twice, came up on T-Mobile (no n70 on s21).  Tried to manually register on 313340, but it did not connect (tried twice). I am on factory unlocked firmware but used a s22 hack to get *#73# working.  Tried what you were suggesting with a T-Mobile sim partially installed, but that was very unstable with Dish ( I think they had figured that one out).  [edit: and now I see Boost sent me a successful device swap notice which says I can now begin to use my new device.  Sigh.  Will try again later and wait for this message - too impatient.]
    • Hopefully this indicates T-Mobile hasn't completely abandoned mmwave and/or small cells? But then again this is the loop, so take that as you will. Hopefully now that most macro activity is done (besides rural colo/builds), they will start working on small cells.
    • This has been approved.. https://www.cnet.com/tech/mobile/fcc-approves-t-mobiles-deal-to-purchase-mint-mobile/
    • In the conference call they had two question on additional spectrum. One was the 800 spectrum. They are not certain what will happen, thus have not really put it into their plans either way (sale or no sale). They do have a reserve level. Nationwide 800Mhz is seen as great for new technologies which I presume is IOT or 5g slices.  T-Mobile did not bite on use of their c-band or DOD.  mmWave rapidly approaching deadlines not mentioned at all. FWA brushes on this as it deals with underutilized spectrum on a sector by sector basis.  They are willing to take more money to allow FWA to be mobile (think RV or camping). Unsure if this represents a higher priority, for example, FWA Mobile in RVs in Walmart parking lots working where mobile phones need all the capacity. In terms of FWA capacity, their offload strategy is fiber through joint ventures where T-Mobile does the marketing, sales, and customer support while the fiber company does the network planning and installation.  50%-50% financial split not being consolidated into their books. I think discussion of other spectrum would have diluted the fiber joint venture discussion. They do have a fund which one use is to purchase new spectrum. Sale of the 800Mhz would go into this. It should be noted that they continue to buy 2.5Ghz spectrum from schools etc to replace leases. They will have a conference this fall  to update their overall strategies. Other notes from the call are 75% of the phones on the network are 5g. About 85% of their sites have n41, n25, and n71, 90% 5g.  93% of traffic is on midband.  SA is also adding to their performance advantage, which they figure is still ahead of other carriers by two years. It took two weeks to put the auction 108 spectrum to use at their existing sites. Mention was also made that their site spacing was designed for midrange thus no gaps in n41 coverage, while competitors was designed for lowband thus toggles back and forth for n77 also with its shorter range.
    • The manual network selection sounds like it isn't always scanning NR, hence Dish not showing up. Your easiest way to force Dish is going to be forcing the phone into NR-only mode (*#*#4636#*#* menu?), since rainbow sims don't support SA on T-Mobile.
