Network Vision/LTE - Missouri Market (includes St. Louis)

Sikeston, MO.

This install is not right. I live 1/2 mi south of this tower and can't connect to it even from outside with a view of the tower. Traveled north of the tower about a 1/2 mi and it popped up. Never saw more than 2 "bars" of signal strength.

Yup I haven't heard of LTE 800 anywhere yet. Soon I hope.

< nothing to see here, move along >

I haven't kept up reading much outside of this thread lately.  When are we expecting to see 800 for non LTE (voice)?  I haven't been too worried about that one until a family member just started running into fringe signal issues at a new residence.

Probably early next year sometime. We don't really have a good timeline on that. It has to be brought online in clusters. Since Ericsson doesn't do anything in clusters, it may take a while.

I wonder how much longer we have to wait here in Osage for LTE. Definitely exciting seeing posts of LTE spots in the lake area.

So, Not able to connect to a lot of sites on my drive tonight. And no b41. Tried all different band settings. Its not just yellow sites that im having problems with. Its completely random. Just like others have reported it shows lte for a split second(does not register in signalcheck) then falls back to ehrpd. Actually, looking at the map these are all purple sites have not had any issues with 3g/4g sites. Its only SOME sites that give me issues.

I tried everything too disabled b41, all different band priorities, restarting phone, Updating prl and profile. Sat at the base of b41 only site and did all of this too and could only get the 2 b25 sites down the road in dif directions

All in all with the temporary issues can you still use the N5 as your daily carry? I read you had some phone and SMS issues, they get worked out?

On the 3g/4g sites is your rc_bitmap option a 0 or 1? Did your EVDO sector IDs get larger by digit or two? This is how we tell this the site is a half or full 3g NV conversion. They recently turned on our rc_bitmap option but we are still on 1x and not 1xA, even 800smr was only 1x for some odd reason. Part of the Ericfailure maybe? I think that's why they stopped and blocked the 1x800 rollout.

After disabling and re-enabling GV i think it is working fine now.

With the reports of issues that we are having with Tri-Band devices, I am now compiling data to try and see where the issue is. Anyone with a Tri-Band phone please let me know of any site that you cannot connect to.

Edit: Actually please report any site that you can connect to or cannot connect to. Please include any GCI(HEX) that you get.

yeah but either way should be a separate thread, IMO, since the issue will go away sooner or later.

I wish signal check logging was working, it would make it alot easier to track which towers are connecting while driving around

If it's issues affecting the Missouri market, whether or not it goes away soon, it can be in the Missouri market thread. The Chicago people didn't create a new thread for their issues.

I know my G2 does not hand off to Bridgeton City Hall and the new I-270 & Dorsett tower. Only two I found so far for my phone.

Also True North is on-site again at New Florissant & Reasor with no cables hanging anymore.

I just didn't want to clutter up the board with yet another Missouri thread.

I haven't confirmed for all sites, but it looks like if I toggle airplane mode it will then connect to LTE. But not sure if it was another site up the road which caused it first to go to 3g and then maybe handed off to 3g.

For me, if i do that it will connect for a second then fallback to ehrpd at some of the sites i checked.

    • Since this is kind of the general chat thread, I have to share this humorous story (at least it is to me): Since around February/March of this year, my S22U has been an absolute pain to charge. USB-C cables would immediately fall out and it progressively got worse and worse until it often took me a number of minutes to get the angle of the cable juuuussst right to get charging to occur at all (not exaggerating). The connection was so weak that even walking heavily could cause the cable to disconnect. I tried cleaning out the port with a stable, a paperclip, etc. Some dust/lint/dirt came out but the connection didn't improve one bit. Needless to say, this was a MONSTER headache and had me hating this phone. I just didn't have the finances right now for a replacement.  Which brings us to the night before last. I am angry as hell because I had spent five minutes trying to get this phone to charge and failed. I am looking in the port and I notice it doesn't look right. The walls look rough and, using a staple, the back and walls feel REALLY rough and very hard. I get some lint/dust out with the staple and it improves charging in the sense I can get it to charge but it doesn't remove any of the hard stuff. It's late and it's charging, so that's enough for now. I decide it's time to see if that hard stuff is part of the connector or not. More aggressive methods are needed! I work in a biochem lab and we have a lot of different sizes of disposable needles available. So, yesterday morning, while in the lab I grab a few different sizes of needles between 26AWG and 31 AWG. When I got home, I got to work and start probing the connector with the 26 AWG and 31 AWG needle. The stuff feels extremely hard, almost like it was part of the connector, but a bit does break off. Under examination of the bit, it's almost sandy with dust/lint embedded in it. It's not part of the connector but instead some sort of rock-hard crap! That's when I remember that I had done some rock hounding at the end of last year and in January. This involved lots of digging in very sandy/dusty soils; soils which bare more than a passing resemblance to the crap in the connector. We have our answer, this debris is basically compacted/cemented rock dust. Over time, moisture in the area combined with the compression from inserting the USB-C connector had turned it into cement. I start going nuts chiseling away at it with the 26 AWG needle. After about 5-10 minutes of constant chiseling and scraping with the 26AWG and 31AWG needles, I see the first signs of metal at the back of the connector. So it is metal around the outsides! Another 5 minutes of work and I have scraped away pretty much all of the crap in the connector. A few finishing passes with the 31AWG needle, a blast of compressed air, and it is time to see if this helped any. I plug my regular USB-C cable and holy crap it clicks into place; it hasn't done that since February! I pick up the phone and the cable has actually latched! The connector works pretty much like it did over a year ago, it's almost like having a brand new phone!
    • That's odd, they are usually almost lock step with TMO. I forgot to mention this also includes the September Security Update.
    • 417.55 MB September security update just downloaded here for S24+ unlocked   Edit:  after Sept security update install, checked and found a 13MB GP System update as well.  Still showing August 1st there however.
    • T-Mobile is selling the rest of the 3.45GHz spectrum to Columbia Capital.
    • Still nothing for my AT&T and Visible phones.
