Those of you who have the S22 unlocked out of box, what does your CSC show under service provider software version? I flashed mine from TM "locked" to U1 and still shows TMB/TMB,TMB/XAU. Maybe it shows that anytime you have a TM SIM in?

There was a workaround on some devices to get XAA to show by flashing the Canadian unlocked, then US, and I did that, but it still lists TMB as CSC.

I know it really isn't an issue unless I sell the device as truly carrier agnostic unlocked.

I wouldn't have even bothered if I wasnt having more issues with non-Jibe RCS.

S22+ factory unlocked.

With T-Mobile Esim plus verizon network sim: TMB/VZW, TMB/AAA.

Disable Verizon SIM and it shows: TMB/TMB, TMB/XAA.

So it will be missing the advanced photo editing.  Likely the same for the S21 series.

Google may be covering that for phones from Android 8 with 3GB of Ram, although they are reserving some functions just for Pixels.

Feeling the same. Factory unlocked here. Got it for my account's s21 ultras and s24 ultras, but the s22+ is still waiting. Wifi versus over the air made no difference.

Being impatient I just popped in a spare VZ SIM and updated and back to T-Mobile.

Performance seems fine so far. Haven't played with AI features. I know circle to search is useful on my wife's Pixel 8.

S22 gets the s21 features: One UI 6.1 update: no photo cleanup AI as reported.  Does have:  circle to search, advanced charging settings for battery protection, and customize alarms.  Also has Google's Bluetooth based find my device network option.  Reportedly can (have not tested yet) move subjects from one picture to another, copy from one image paste into another, speed up or slow down parts of videos, edit movies on any galaxy device, Samsung account family groups.

Plus the s22 adds the following AI features: real time translation during voice calls, can change the tone of your writing, interpreter of live conversations, samsung notes to summarize and correct etc.  and photo editor. Has actual advance intelligence feature topic in settings with option to do it only on your phone.

*#73# does still work if you previously enabled it.  ADB disabling of system updates not tested.

I forgot to mention, the 6.1 update kinda fixed one annoying bug for those of us who band lock. There has been a bug where when locked to NR-SA, if the phone overheats something will crash, you will lose signal and you can't change to any other bands without a restart. The loss of signal still occurs but now you can move back to LTE without restarting.

I was locked to the 3 5G SA bands on my s22 before the update because it works so good and I like to search for new 5g.   After the update, all bands including LTE were enabled. I was easily able to disable LTE again and be locked to only 5g SA.

Has anyone experienced a ridiculous amount of difficulty with Google messages with RCS enabled?  It has been a train wreck for me for the past year so I now use WhatsApp.  That works very well for all of us.... Android and iOS.

No? RCS on Google messages works great for me, messages between anyone with RCS enabled go through with no problems. Don't remember the last time I had an issue. I only have issues with people on iPhones on different carriers from T-Mobile.

    • Someone told me a couple years ago, that there were problems getting certain modems to aggregate overlapping spectrum even if the overlapping parts were actually blanked. So I think there might be firmware issues that need to be resolved first, which T-Mobile might not consider worth the effort for 4MHz at this time.
    • Tbh not that surprising. Every ISP seems to want to have an MVNO to pitch to their customers to make them stickier and maybe make some money in the process. And unlike USCC the MVNO should be able to cover TDS's entire wireline area, with infrastructure costs that are borne by someone else. Entertaining, yes. Surprising, not really...particularly when competing against Comcast or Spectrum, or even eventually T-Mobile fixed + mobile. This also strengthens my bet that they'll rebrand all their fixed wireless stuff as TDS, as that runs on spectrum they're keeping for now.

    • Probably not worth the fiddling given that that's a few percent of the band. Also, if they really wanted to push my assumption is there are still guard bands in play for the n41 carriers so they could fit two "100 MHz" carriers into 194 MHz anyway. Looks like minimum guard band is less than 1 MHz and a 100 MHz channel is only 273 30 KHz resource blocks, which is a bit over 80 MHz total, so if they really wanted to pull another 5% or so capacity out they could.
